Yeah, probably hot, and humid. Got pretty hot yesterday in the sun. Not horrible in the shade though, and ok when the breeze was coming off the lake.
I got a couple of projects off the list. Took longer than I’d’ve liked but they always do. Wife got some painting done, and the kids leveled up in Zelda. Probably.
Then we spent some time in the water, and after dinner we set up the projector and screen on the dock and watched “Last Action Hero”. What a fun movie. Kids laughed through it. I probably saw it in the theater, and if not, as soon as it hit the rental store. It’s been a while but it held up. Great cameos.
Today is more of the same. Projects. Paint. Some relaxing, and some socializing. Hopefully no one will be LifeFlighted today.
Stack up some community. In the long run, it will brobably be your ‘make or break.’

I have an EE undergrad. No Fluids in ABET curriculum for the degree by 1988.
I took an HP 28S, CRC Math reference, and Lindberg’s review guide into the FE, and I took the test cold. I knew the calculator inside out and understood where to find things in the books.
The irony of the test was the prof who flunked half of our graduating class that Spring making yet another attempt at his FE/EIT, complaining vocally about the “the kids with fancy calculators”.

There were some other serious problems with that boat beyond just not clearing the bilge. The electrical components are sealed against sparks, alternator and starter. Other components are marine rated to eliminate sparks. The exhaust manifold is contained within a water jacket to keep the heat down.
Something caused the spark that ignited the fumes. When I fueled my boat the bilge blower was on all the time. I waited five minutes after fueling before starting the engine.
Generally with a raise in pay and other benefits. The vote is rigged. They vote AGAINST the raise motion. To vote YES is voting to deny the raise. So they vote NO, tell their constituents they voted NO on the pay raise. People believe them when in reality by voting NO they voted for the raise.
Most members of congress and senate are in the job for the money, the easy lifestyle, and living off the efforts of others. They actually do very little work. Fact finding missions to Italy? Nope, just a paid vacation on a private jet provided by the government.
When I lived in San Antonio I had the unfortunate occasion to be on a flight with Henry B. Gonzales. He would fly first class to and from DC. When questioned on the expense he claimed he needed to do work on the flight. Bull Nuggets. He was fast asleep after consuming three or four of the mini bottles of booze.
One time when I was leaving DC I was next in line at the ticket counter. Some chap pushed in front of me. I called him out and told him to move. He then stated “do you know how I am?”. I said no, get in back of me. He then said he was congressman so-and-so and he was priority. I told him to F-off and get behind me. He did but in the process cut in front of other people in line.
I hung around after I got my ticket. He then berated the ticket agent because there were no first class seats and as a member of congress he was entitled to first class and demanded first class. He was still told no by the ticket agent. He demanded to see a supervisor and left with someone. I have no idea what happened.
The fireworks last night ran until after midnight. We had 15 seconds of rain yesterday. Not enough to wet the house roofs down. Tonight will be constant barage and tomorrow night will be the war zone.
It is 87 F outside at 845am. Gonna be a hot one today. Not a cloud in the sky. Maybe we will be lucky and get a thunderboomer at 4pm or so.
Church is just one service at 10am today. Should be interesting.

Another part of the pattern, one which I don’t believe I have ever noted on this forum.
The pattern is that there seems to be a coordinated effort to dilute the patriotic and traditional holidays of the United States.
The “War on Christmas” is a real thing, and so is the “co-incidence” that most of our holidays have suddenly been joined by made-up carp.
We just had Father’s Day, but the media spent a lot more time on Juneteenth, a made-up holiday based on a non-event and non-existent historical practices.
We used to have Washington’s Birthday and Lincoln’s Birthday in February. Then they got rolled into President’s Day, a federal holiday with the date floating to maximize the weekend for federal workers and bank closures (you do know that we don’t have 4-day weekends because federal law prohibits banks from closing for four days?)
Then, mysteriously, the entire month of February became Black History Month, which was then joined by another Democrat-declared federal holiday, MLK Day, which is in January.
Note that we don’t have a White History Month or a U.S. History Month.
Mother’s Day in the U.S. is the second Sunday in May. The Cinco de Mayo push by brewers and distillers has been on for years to provide an excuse to get drunk and celebrate illegal immigration. Even wikipedia is forced to note that it is more popular in the U.S. than Mexico. Our country has sunk so low that some courts have held that high school students can be forbidden to wear American flag teeshirts, but the Mexican flag is okay.

Solar Experiment:
I just added an AC digital timer to the Jackery 2000 solar “generator” and a multi-gadget charger connected to it. I’ll turn it on 12:00am to 3:00 am. It currently will charge two iPads and a Kindle. I’ll add my Garmin Tactix one night a week since it holds a charge for about two weeks of regular use. It’s really blowing my Apple Watch out of the water for what I use them for.
The Jackery is still charging from solar every other day. Today’s a charging day, but the it is overcast right now. 66% juice left.

Book number two of a two book fantasy series. I read the well printed and well bound trade paperback published by Ballantine Books in 2021. I suspect that there will be a third book in the series someday.

That is your 50s. Just wait until you hit your 60s. I turned off the light last night at 1am and tossed and turned for at least an hour. Maye two hours. The alarm went off at 815am and I was rudely jolted awake. And I cannot take naps.
Since I have been retired (2nd time, 7 years ago), I usually wake up at the crack of 9am.
Of course, I stay up until midnight or longer, watching the latest ‘binge’ program. Which I could probably pause with the DVR, or streaming.

@Jenny, Old at 50? Only if you have stress from overwork or health issues. Everyone has different cures and different life clocks. I am tempted to say “tough it out,” but that would be counterproductive. Some people thrive on stress, but many just kid themselves about it. Engineers and scientists are natural problem solvers, but most are not good at solving their own problems without advice or help. Sometimes that help is self-reflection, followed by changes and a different course of action. Wish you the best.

@jenny, getting old is not for the weak. It’s loads better than it used to be though, with most of the bad stuff now 10-20 years delayed. I’m heartened to hear some of the folks here who have a couple decades on me and are still busy every day.
– had a really nice night. Front row for the fireworks and they were like a ¾ sized version of a full on professional show. Lost track of how long it went, it went so long. And no worries about the crowd, or the drive home. Plus we spent time chatting with friends.
Kids watched a movie and spent some time with our friends’ kids (who they know from swim team and neighborhood stuff at home.
Nice night too, once the breeze started back up.

I think the heat took all the stuffing out of me this week. Had health crises in 2012 and massive car crash in 2014. Left me reeling for a few years. Much better these days but I swear the two events aged me.
It’s been a long time since I’ve felt as old as today without being actually ill. All ok. Just a shocker to have a list of tasks and zero motivation or energy to tackle them. Yowzers. Looking forward to cooler weather.
Movies – Elvis, meh. Not sure it had much to do with Elvis. Liked the music. Couple next to me walked out about ⅓ way through. Minions – died laughing. Missed Phantom of the Open.
@Jenny, you have replaced OFD’s intolerance for heat on this site. If memory serves, he didn’t like much over 60. I don’t like much below 60. 90 feels cozy. On Saturday, we watched fireworks from our yard, and it was 82 with a breeze. Felt chilly. I always hated winter in the Midwest, where it occasionally went below zero. Cold hurts; heat relaxes.
However, I confine heavy outdoor work to cooler months here. I do respect sun and heat.
