Thur. Jan. 27, 2022 – making progress, and yet falling behind…

By on January 27th, 2022 in ebay, gardening, lakehouse, WuFlu

Cold again, with more damp.  Maybe getting to the low 60s like yesterday.  We had occasional sun, but mostly overcast, and I expect the same today.

Spent the morning doing email and phone calls.  Actual talking to people.  I know, how strange.  Had to call the insurance people and get a quote for the new house.  NOT cheap as it turns out.  Also spoke with them about the work on my Ranger (I can still get it done if I can find the time) and the burglary at my storage unit.    Then I spent some time on the phone with the county clerk in Houston County.  She was able to pull the deed history for my new properties, and the boundary descriptions.   It’s pretty cool to go back  to the original land grant, Ramon De La Garza in this case.  Only took a couple of steps.  And I confirmed that the mineral rights were separated from the land rights before it became a subdivision.  Most of the area was in timber production prior to the ’70s, and there is still a lot of timber in the area.  She printed old scans to a pdf, emailed them to me, and I was good to go.  She was apologetic that it cost $1/page.  The $5 is the smallest bill I’ll pay in this process, I’m pretty sure.

So I made some progress on something.   We completed the sales contract and got it back to the seller, and hope to close on the 21st of Feb.

Didn’t make any progress on getting more stuff to auction.  I’ll have to email the newest auctioneer and try to get some stuff placed with him.  I need to get some bins filled from the burgled unit too.   Today I’ll do something, so I don’t fall farther behind.

Girl Scout cookies arrive next week and the house needs to be clear for that.

I did get some needful things and some good stuff for the house and the new place too.

The seed display had a LOT of good veggies and tons of flowers in it.  I think I’ll scatter a bunch of the flowers at the new place.  Most of the veg were varieties I haven’t tried and failed with yet, so I’ll give them a try too.   The seeds sold 4 packets for a dollar.  I never saw any that cheap before, and the label says they have the same number of seeds as the other guys… wonder if they’ll germinate and what the rate will be.  It’ll be ‘science-y’ content for sure 🙂

That’s that for today, I better actually get some stuff done.

So I can stack some other things that will help more.

Issa Ismail, a barber from Detroit, Michigan, was born a woman. When she was 19, she announced that she was transgender and started transitioning to a male by taking testosterone. She took hormones for six years, and they completely changed her body. She also surgically remove her breasts, but soon realized she wasn't happy as a man. In February 2021, after developing depression, she decided to 'de-transition' back into a female and stopped the testosterone therapy altogether. Now, she has shared her experience in the hopes that she can help others who are struggling with their gender identity and are unsure about transitioning.

I thought I read about someone suggesting slipping the clot shots in with other vaccines, to overcome "vaccine hesitancy". Wasn't able to find that when I searched a minute ago, but I'm pretty sure the idea was floated.

  6. SteveF says:

You aren't unhappy because you're in the wrong body. You're mentally ill and unhappy and latch on "I'm in the wrong body" as the explanation. But once you're in the "right" body, you're still mentally ill and unhappy. This shouldn't be controversial, but in Wokemerica it's unacceptable to even raise the topic. Well, I guess that's one way to cut down on the controversy.

You know, the population with children (a decreasing number of people in our current version of civilization) is increasingly getting upset with the number of vaccinations (30+ per child at this time).  And with many of those vaccinations, their children get sick for a day or two.  A lot of those mommas have blown off vaccinations so that when something really bad happens, their children are truly screwed.

I remember the pediatricians fighting Varicella (Chicken Pox) 30 years ago on the basis that the shot was riskier than the actual disease and the push to approve the jab was in the interest of convenience for the parents.

    Times have changed.

I gotta wonder about the state of things at Ford if they couldn't manage to have a full display at an auto show. Of course, Texas laws are weird so there may have been a restriction about the vehicles only being present through a dealer.

Some men say that you don't turn down a girl-girl-guy threesome no matter their body shapes, the number of tattoos they have, or the number of mental illnesses they have.

I question the judgment of those men.

Haven't talked to anyone but my wife in days. Business correspondence – email – but no talking. The weekend will bring neighbors for a beer, most likely, and that'll be enough socializing for another week. Introverts'r'us.

Covid – the Omicron numbers are so high here that basically everyone will have been exposed by the end of Winter. The government has even said that, most likely, all measures including certificates will be eliminated in the Spring. After all, what's the point? Either you are vaxxed, or you will have been sick, or both. Meanwhile the hospitalization numbers are quite low – Omicron really isn't nearly as dangerous as the earlier variants.

Mostly took the day off today, just did some household stuff. Back to the salt mines tomorrow…

The dealers would never let a $20,000 Maverick roll of the lot unless it was a very good fleet customer with the right connections needing a one off, say, for a kid.

In the old days, they would sell the low end import pickups for MSRP but missing key safety equipment for the US … like rear bumpers! … but those days are long gone. I don't think anyone imports a pickup anymore beyond Hecho en Mexico like the Maverick and the Sport Bronco.

There's a book titled Irreversible Damage: The Transgender Craze Seducing Our Daughters by Abigail Shrier where she examines this. Jordan Peterson, Ben Shapiro, and Joe Rogan have all had her on their YouTube channels and podcasts as a guest.

Essentially, you take an adolescent girl, the same personality type that in the 1990s was probably into witchcraft/Wicca, and who is likely homosexual, likely has depression or anxiety ("negative mood" would probably be the overarching terms psychologists would use)  and put her in today's transgender woke world and suddenly some of them think they're a guy.

It's like, "No, you're just a mildly depressed adolescent girl with a lot of social anxieties who is attracted to other girls and you don't know how to process that except to change your pronouns so you can find acceptance in the transgender clique at your middle school or high school."  Then her (his?) mid-20s hit, they've grown up, they've gotten their anxiety and depression under control (as much as one can), they're comfortable in their homosexuality, and now they realize that, nope, they're not a trans guy. They're a woman and always have been but now they have years of hormone therapy, legal name changes,  and possibly surgeries to undo. That's on top of the ridicule they'll have to endure for all that backpedaling.

  25. drwilliams says:

Ongoing compliance is what allows the aggressions and encroachments to continue.

I hadn't thought of it until a moment ago but now I wonder about the effect of decades of teachers and mothers telling children "Don't fight back if someone hits you. Run and get an adult." and police arresting anyone who dares to fight back against a bully or a mugger or a mob. It might be that this is why so many Americans are willing to meekly submit when they're bullied — there's no other word for it — by tyrants, Karens, and cowards with obvious self-serving agendas.

Workday. Geesh. That has no business being in there. If the yoga pants in HR want to do the dirty work of the C-suites and enforce a vaccine mandate at this point, they should be required to track the employees' jab status even if it means an old fashioned filing cabinet.

My wife got a booster last week, and the experience has made her consider going back to private practice if the VA mandates a fourth shot. There are plenty of job opportunities at places which do not take Medicaid/Medicare money and thus tied to Biden's only surviving mandate.

Of course they can get away with the stupidity because the stores on the US side of the border aren't going to enforce a similar mandate, specifically Vermont and New Hampshire. Heck, New Hampshire is moving to make Ivermectin available on a pharmacist's discretion.

In the last decade, I’ve lived in two “safety valve” areas providing relief for liberal stupid in nearby geography — SW WA State (well, relatively speaking) across from Portland and unincorporated Williamson County Austin. I lived in Spokane, WA, for about 9 years.  Canada's wonderful, marvelous, near perfect socialized medicine system provided an unending stream of patients to the 2 medical centers in Spokane.  It seems that if you want timely diagnostic and elective procedures, you have to jump over the border from Canada to get them.  But don't say that care is rationed!  That's a lie!  It's just sometimes delayed a little bit.  Like, until the patient dies.

That's why a town of 100,000 people had 2 major hospitals.  And why Washington had, at the time, more veterinary MRI machines than all of British Columbia had for humans.

  39. lpdbw says:

    Modeled after the VA

The VA serves as the closest thing we have to socialized medicine in the US.

I understand the Bureau of Indian Affairs runs something similar.

And of course, when we get "Medicare for all", we'll be nearly indistinguishable from Canada.

  40. Greg Norton says:

That's why a town of 100,000 people had 2 major hospitals.  And why Washington had, at the time, more veterinary MRI machines than all of British Columbia had for humans.

The new Washington State University medical school is in Spokane instead of the school's main campus in Pullman.

Go back about 12-13 years in Florida, and every pill mill clinic around the state had an MRI machine parked out back. GE builds them into semi trailers, probably a lease deal.

I saw the local pill mill’s MRI trailer every day on my commute to/from work. As I’ve noted before, the place was so busy that, instead of shutting down the mill, Tampa cops directed traffic on that part of the highway.

Here is a picture of the Lightning, no generator in the bed disguised as a toolbox. The floor manager told me that there are only four prototypes for the shows.   All of the other vehicles (with window stickers) had to come from a dealer.  He ordered a dozen trucks back in August, the dealer sold the nice ones and gave him the cheapies.

Does anyone remember "old oil" and "new oil" from the 1970s ?  People would buy crude oil from an established oil well, "old oil", for $1/barrel.  This pricing was established by a Presidential Mandate.  They would then generate paperwork that the crude oil was "new oil", oil from a new well, and sell it for $5/barrel to an unsuspecting buyer.

I feel some old brown hydrogen to new green hydrogen coming on.

So if you stick your foot in there while the power running boards are moving up, do you get your foot crunched ?

Man, you must think I am stupid. Yeh, prior incidences may confirm your suspicions but I smartened up the last 10 years, I think. You have to close the door for the running boards to raise. So I am either inside the truck which would make putting a foot on the boards awkward or outside away from the door that I have just closed, which is just as awkward.

Now, darn your rotten hide, you have made me curious. I need to find a gullible student at high school, pay them a dollar, and see what happens.

You (or the gullible idiot) could be standing on the running board with the door open and then you press the switch which tells the car that the door is closed.

The passenger side is where the action will be at as you close your door and start the truck while your passenger is standing on the running board, having forgotten to open their door first.

Of course, get a heavy enough passenger like me and the running board motor might just smoke.

Another idea: Take one of those confiscated cell phones and make a video.

Just load it in the potential shear area and crunch it, complete with sound effects.

Seems to me there would be some safety thing implemented, like on a garage door opener. Maybe stick a 2×4 so it would impede the running board movement, and see if there is an override that stops the running board from retracting.

Are you crazy? With the price of lumber these days??? No, use a freshman. They're more plentiful than 2x4s and worth much less.

On the possible chance that Ford did not think of stupid people, NO. The risk of damage is too great.

There is probably a patent on the circuit that detects an obstacle in the path and reverses the motor. Midwest, so the royalty checks probably go a Mailboxes Etc. on the Gulf Coast of Florida.

    Bounce-back

The running board will reverse direction and move to the end of travel if it encounters an object while moving.

How About A Pilot Project To Demonstrate The Feasibility Of Fully Wind/Solar/Battery Electricity Generation?

    Reposted from the MANHATTAN CONTRARIAN

    Francis Menton

“A reasonable question is, has anybody thought to construct a small-to-moderate scale pilot project to demonstrate that this is feasible? Before embarking on “net zero” for a billion people, how about trying it out in a place with, say, 10,000, or 50,000, or 100,000 people. See if it can actually work, and how much it will cost. Then, if it works at reasonable cost, start expanding it.

As far as I can determine, that has never been done anywhere. However, there is something somewhat close. An island called El Hierro, which is one of the Canary Islands and is part of Spain, embarked more than a decade ago on constructing an electricity system consisting only of wind turbines and a pumped-storage water reservoir. El Hierro has a population of about 11,000. It is a very mountainous volcanic island, so it provided a fortuitous location for construction of a large pumped-storage hydro project, with an upper reservoir in an old volcanic crater right up a near-cliff from a lower reservoir just above sea level. The difference in elevation of the two reservoirs is about 660 meters, or more than 2000 feet.”

failed to live up to expectations

“So the closest thing we have to a “demonstration project” of the fully wind/storage electricity has come up woefully short, and really has only proved that the whole concept will necessarily fail on the necessity of far more storage than is remotely practical or affordable.”

Long story short, the absence of any demonstration in the U.S., or any proposal for one, is ipso facto proof that the green energy advocates know that it is not feasible.

So we need a national demonstration project, which ideally would have:

    1) a population that has been educated to the certainty that green energy is cheaper and better

    2) a city and state government headquarters that has legislated green energy requirements

    3) corporate headquarters and personal residence of a pale sweaty billionaire who can take part in the consequences both personally and in share price (all straight up, right fossil-fuel-is-evil boys?)

The current storage technology is moving towards green hydrogen created by extra electricity from wind turbines and solar panels.  The green hydrogen will be used to fire gas turbines until the gas turbines, pipelines, and storage facilities fail due to hydrogen embrittlement.

About two thirds of the electric power in Texas comes from gas turbines so we know that they work. The Powers That Be just want to convert the gas turbines from natural gas to green hydrogen which is turning out to be a huge project due to hydrogen embrittlement.

You can find the definition of green hydrogen at: “Infographic: What are the Colors of Hydrogen?”

Usually there is more information in what we're not told than what we are told. e.g. Hunter's dad's mental state; moochelle's law career; convert everyone to vegan; green power; etc.
