Sun. Nov 11, 2018 – travel day

Nice cool day with partial overcast yesterday. Hot in the sun though. Lots of good food.

I’m working on an idea. I think I’m
Seeing a cultural phenomenon develop. I think I’m seeing a Normalization of evil. I need more time and thought but when I see storm troopers parading and marching thru the park and people cheer, there is something going on.

It’ll have to wait though. Home later today, God willing and the creek don’t rise….

  1. 27º and cloudy right now. Lake Effect bands have stopped. They hit 5 or 6 times yesterday – making for interesting conditions. “Hey – it’s cleared up.” “Here it comes again.” “Hey! The sun’s shining.” Right now it’s overcast, and the tracks from yesterday are still clearly defined. It’s over for now.

Like other kinds of storms, you don’t really understand them unless you’ve experienced them. We get them every year. Over a foot yesterday (officially). 10″ in the orchard, which is as good a measure as any.

It will likely all be gone by Thanksgiving. That’s the way it works around here.

  2. Mid 30’s and freezing rain all d@mn day.
The roads are slicker than snake snot.

    Driving is… sporty.

  3. Yesterday #1 son and I were driving around. I had my hubs locked, but leave it in 2wd most of the time, so I know where the limits are.

I went around some of the corners “sideways” – just hanging out enough to be fun while maintaining control. Son thinks it’s great fun. It is. Unfortunately, many drivers don’t seem to know where their limits are, as evidenced by the number of folks calling AAA for a hand out of the ditches.

    Sporty, indeed.

  4. _The Survivalist (Solemn Duty)_ by Dr. Arthur T. Bradley
    https://www.amazon.com/Survivalist-Solemn-Duty-Arthur-Bradley/dp/1722119527/?tag=ttgnet-20

Book number eleven of a twelve book apocalyptic series. I read the well printed and bound POD (print on demand) trade paperback. I will order the twelfth book when it is available. There will probably be more books in the series.

BTW, the Amazon self publishing press is still running as this book was printed in Lexington, KY on October 12, 2018.

It has been a little over a year since the SuperPox-99 virus killed 98% of the Earth’s inhabitants. The SuperPox-99 virus was engineered to rapidly infect and kill in a future war. What was not envisioned was the intentional release by a researcher to cleanse the planet of the human parasites. Two percent of the people survived the virus, one percent are immune with no effects and one percent are now almost mindless infected animals.

Things are still in almost total chaos. Small communities are trying to gather together but the totally failed infrastructure and limited resources are making it very difficult for them to flourish, much less survive. The Raines father and son are separately helping communities to improve but not always in the way that they envision.

  5. We are at 57 F here in the Land of Sugar and the temperature is heading downward soon. We are supposed to be 32 F Wednesday morning now. Of course, we are getting the rain the California needs. But this is nature as we are a swamp and California is a desert. Our subtropical weather is both a blessing and curse.

Looks like I will be walking by myself today. It is too wet for Lady and the wife ran off to Lewisville to check on her dad.

Oh yeah, my father-in-law has been hit by the credit card thieves again. They generated three new credit cards two weeks ago. Lifelock emailed and texted the wife so she got them all canceled. It was painful as usual though even with Lifelock’s help.

I am losing any sense of pity for the banks. They have made it just too easy to get a credit card. And I can guarantee that my wife will not pay any bills for her father that he did not generate.

The forecast for Wednesday in Austin keeps drifting back and forth on the possibility of snow.

Snow doesn’t stick, but customers are headed out to our Taylor biohazard -er- test site on Wednesday morning. Black ice on the track will make the 100 MPH demonstrations challenging from a braking perspetive.

Lock/freeze your FIL’s credit file at all three credit reporting agencies. It works. I had a couple of letters from PayPal saying my credit card application had been denied because my credit report could not be accessed. I never attempted to open a PayPal credit card account. Happened with some other credit whose name escapes me.

So in my experience and thus limited sample, the locking/freeze does seem to work. If a bank issues a credit card with checking credit then the bank really has problems and deserves to be destroyed.

  8. “Texas: 9 Arrested In Organized, Illegal Voting Scheme”
    https://freedomoutpost.com/texas-9-arrested-in-organized-illegal-voting-scheme/

“Yes, there is voter fraud going on despite what Democrats tell you. The interesting thing is that it is Democrats engaging in it! In a report you probably aren’t hearing about in the mainstream news, nine people were arrested in Edinburg, Texas for participating in an organized, illegal voting scheme. Interestingly enough, they all have Hispanic last names.”

    Why do this ?

  9. “Home again, home again, jiggity jig, good evening JF…..”

Bonus points to anyone who knows the specific reference.

I should have mentioned Armistice Day. Talked about it with my wife, but didn’t make it into the blog.

Cool rainy drizzle here in Houston, and very strange to arrive in Houston and have it be colder than where I left… with blue skies, fluffy white clouds, and a nice balmy temp.

Huge pile of work waiting for me here, and the kids have to get back to school for the next week anyway. I think this trip was just a couple of days too long.

Well, food, get the animals back home, and bed time…

  10. Blade Runner of course.

Remembrance day is a big deal up here. Made me think of OFD among others.

“We sleep safely in our beds because rough men stand ready in the night to visit violence on those who would harm us.” Usually misattributed to Orwell.

  11. “Broward County: Employee’s Affidavit Confirms Elections Staff Filled Out Blank Ballots”
    https://freedomoutpost.com/broward-county-employees-affidavit-confirms-elections-staff-filled-out-blank-ballots/

“Why Snipes was allowed to stay in that position with her criminal history is beyond me. She needs to be removed immediately.”

“Seriously, is Broward County full of crooks and criminals? It sure seems so. The latest out of the county where elections staff under the direction of Brenda Snipes now stand accused of election and voter fraud as a Broward County employee has filed an affidavit claiming to have seen staff members filling out blank ballots.”

We tried this before. They would only lock for a month since he did not have a government issued id. He now has a state id as of a couple of months ago so the wife should be able to lock his credit for a year now.

Seriously, this crap needs to stop. If the banks and credit agencies do not stop this then we will have massive government regulation.

  13. We tried this before. They would only lock for a month since he did not have a government issued id.

I locked mine by going online to just one credit agency, Equifax. The lock is supposed to also transfer to the other agencies. I provided no ID. The lock remains until I release.

  14. Lock any minor children you have too. Seems that stealing kids’ social security numbers and getting credit in their names is a thing, even though they should come back as minors. Wife did it so I don’t know the details.

Congrats to Rolf, who got it first try.

    How about this one?

“Ordinary fuking people… I hate ’em.”

  15. We’ve been having a lot of coyotes this year so I would like to carry while walking my nightly 1.2 miles. Sometimes I just wear workout shorts and a tank top for maximum airflow. My Charter Bulldog .44 special really pulls down my shorts. I have thought about buying a lighter .38 special, the S&W bodyguard .38 five shot revolver but it will still be too heavy for workout shorts.

My dad suggested that I get a belly band for carrying so I ordered this today. “ComfortTac Ultimate Belly Band Holster for Concealed Carry, Black”. Maybe it will fit on my 40 inch waist.
    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01DEGYTC6/?tag=ttgnet-20

Does anyone have any experience with belly bands ?

Man, your experience is so different from my wife’s experience. Your experience is quite reasonable. My wife’s experience was horrible, three hours long if I remember and arguing with several people. That is why we lifelocked my FIL.

  17. In honor of the military veterans in my life, my father-in-law, my son, three of my uncles, eight (maybe nine) of my wife’s uncles (the wife has twelve uncles), I am taking a day of vacation tomorrow. Maybe I will actually work on the house as I have promised the wife to do so.

BTW, our Bible School teacher had everyone stand up this morning who had a veteran in their immediate family. Over 80 people out of the 100 people in the class stood up. That was fairly interesting.

And of course, happy veterans day to the several veterans on this board.

  18. I haven’t used a belly band, but… It’s synthetic. I wore a wrist brace out of (I think) the same material. After a couple of days, it started stinking of mildew. YMMV, of course…

  19. @MrAtoz,

    Winner winner chicken dinner!

    One of the classics.

How about “This is Scooter Lindley, Junior Blue Blaze irregular 41 and a half. Hang on.”

  20. One of my all time favorites: Buckaroo Banzai in the 8th Dimension. Peter Weller starred for a season and directs “The Last Ship”. Robocop, of course.
