Wed. Nov. 4, 2026 – nice break, but back at it

After yesterday’s rain and cold front, I hope today will be dry and mild. Not holding my breath, but one can hope. It was 66F when I went out for my tiny little fire, down from the mid 70sF during the rain. Heck, it was into the 80sF before the rain started. Dry and mild would be nice.

Slept in a bit, then did auction stuff, until I went out to do my pickup. Spent the rest of the afternoon poking at stuff at the shop. I should be able to take another load to the auctioneer next Tuesday.

Today I’ll do some stuff in the morning. I need to order some stuff for my client’s upgrades, and do some design work for my buddy’s new store cams. That should eat most of the day. In the afternoon, I’m headed to school for another rehearsal. In the late afternoon, if I’m lucky, maybe I’ll put some decorations away. We’ll see what happens.

Things look to be getting more fractious and contentious at home and abroad. All reasons to stack, in a stealthy way.

I have no idea how to fix this

CWII. The corruption is too deep for any peaceful solution.

I don’t mean only corruption of the electoral process. There’s also the job market, the education system, family court, the criminal justice system, the news and information systems. Generally, the broken social contract. The processes and relationships have been corrupted so they do not serve their purposes for society as a whole, twisted for the profit or social change goals of the few.

    Wednesday. Good morning!

Winter seems to have arrived here. It is frigid. Scattered and bedraggled looking cranes are passing overhead, going south. I suspect they are the last, and harbingers of proper winter weather. The folk name for them here is “snow geese”, which is a clue.

Yesterday, for the first time, I tested heated socks, and was very glad of them during a few hours outdoors. Tomorrow will be a full day. I must look out my warm gear… I bought a heated jacket recently, but it is not here yet, so I will go old school with a woollen blanket (Czechoslovakian military surplus – good stuff). I got myself a few Swiss Army blankets in the summer, with the intention of making myself a warm poncho. My round tuit has not yet sufficed. I wonder where the blankets are? Might have to ask W1…

Grim news and much leftist media crowing about the US midterms results. I hope things are not really as bad as they are making out. SteveF’s cheery first post today makes me doubt that, and he’s an optimistic soul.
