Wed. July 11, 2018 – living in a PA story

Currently 77F at 730am. Liars call for sunny and dry.

Woke up this morning dreaming I was in a PA novel. The event was over, and people were getting to their rendezvous points. It was a bit like after the hurricane when the evacuees return.

Group of friends joins us. We see signs of life everywhere. LOTS of people made it through and now they are out looking for stuff.

We go out in a jeep, meet up with a group, and are ambushed and all killed. My pistol is some skinny metal thing with a wire trigger guard that won’t fire, won’t chamber a round, and won’t shoot straight. I blue on blue one of our guys before we’re all killed and captured.

Not a good way to wake up.

Better get some breakfast cooking, or the little one will unleash the kraken….

Tues. July 10, 2018 – whew, glad that’s over

Yesterday was in fact a very long day. Glad that it is over.

75F at 730. Yesterday was so humid you couldn’t spray paint. The texture got weird. I ended up bringing the pieces inside to dry. And then the sky opened up anyway, so good call.

More work today, but a later start, and the work from yesterday….

(I see liberal heads exploding over Trump’s SCOTUS pick. Filthy hypocrites didn’t mind when the court was stacked left, but it’s the end of the world now that it might be right leaning.)

Mon. July 9, 2018 – another week begins

A bit earlier than normal. 75F at 530am. Not usually up at this hour, so no real idea if this means HOT or just normal hot today. Pretty sure the humid is a given.

Oldest at sleep away camp, youngest trying to test out of this grade level in math today, and I think one of the barriers is to keep everyone from trying is to make the test earlier than normal school. It would have weeded me out….

Anyway, gonna be a long day.

Fri. July 6, 2018 – missed me, missed me, ….

At the last minute, after the first gusts arrived, the storm system that was aimed like an arrow at my house jogged west a hair and completely bypassed me last night.

Weather station says ‘no precip’ for me.

Today is 74F and 91%RH to start my day, and it’s sure to be hot and humid later.

A quick review of headlines shows a pause in reporting, probably due to the weird split week. I’m sure the slide continues.

I’ve been mulling the idea of ‘crowdsourcing’ and the ‘wisdom of crowds’ as presented in the business press, and I think they are making a fundamental error, but I don’t have my thoughts organized yet. Perhaps later.

In the mean time, the rain and heat here have put a damper on my preps. (hah) Zukes not thriving. Grape vine going wild but no fruit. Everyone but me has garden produce… waaaa.

Anyone do anything interesting to prep this week? Anyone signed up for learning a new skill or going to a new community meeting?

Thur. July 5, 2018 – cooler, with rain

Or anyway that’s what it looks like out my window.

Only 71F with 90%RH, and while this does meet my ‘Rule of 10s’ it feels like it will be cooler today. And modern life is all about the feelz and not about reality. So I’m just being modern! 🙂

I hope Colin made it through the fire works without too much distress. Our little dog isn’t bothered by thunder or fireworks, and I’m reminded to be thankful for that at least a couple times a year.

I’m also thankful that there weren’t any attacks yesterday. Every day without is a good day.

Go buy some ammo, spend an hour at the range, teach someone to shoot.

Wed. July the Fourth, 2018 – Independence Day

78F and raining here in Houston. Gentle rain so far.

This day is the anniversary of the Colonies declaring their independence from Britain. It marks the beginning of the armed rebellion. By the very nature of our founding we are different.

I’ve got nothing particularly profound to add, but to note that the list of grievances that justify the rebellion looks awfully familiar.

Be safe today, and everyday, but exercise your freedom. Don’t give up, don’t settle.

Tues. July 3, 2018 – getting close

78F at 730am, invoking Nick’s Rule of tens, it’s gonna be hot!

Got an appointment to have my fangs cleaned and checked this am, then off to a customer site to do a quick tune up and temp install prior to his big party.

Kids are at day camp, learning about decomposition.

May head over to the pool in the late afternoon and see what else needs doing before our big 4th party.

Buzy bee, that’s me.

Mon. July 2, 2018 – time marches on- at double time

78F at 7am doesn’t bode well for any wild penguins that might be lurking in the bayous……

Here we are, half way through the year already. Seems like an eyeblink, yet the weight of passing time is there too. Funny how that works.

More in a bit, gotta feed those darn kids. As mentioned elsewhere if you feed them, you’ll just have to feed them again, and again, and again…..
