Tues. July 10, 2018 – whew, glad that’s over

By on July 10th, 2018 in Random Stuff

Yesterday was in fact a very long day. Glad that it is over.

75F at 730. Yesterday was so humid you couldn’t spray paint. The texture got weird. I ended up bringing the pieces inside to dry. And then the sky opened up anyway, so good call.

More work today, but a later start, and the work from yesterday….

Seems like a nice day so far… course it’s 90F at 9, so probably gonna be hot!

According to my FEMA brief, TX still has 2569 households in FEMA paid housing. Puerto Rico has ~300, USVI has 61, and CA has 200…

    FL still has 170.

I note that off the top of my head, everyone involved in this and the original Bundy case has been vindicated, but LaVoy is still dead. Makes a compelling argument that dying for the cause is not a good plan.

(NB, from watching the video of the shooting FWIW, I believe LaVoy was murdered by the OR state police)

79º and sunny. Headed to the dump shortly. Finally got the old bed cut up & ready for the scrap yard, along with the other sheet metal parts I had lying around. Next week will be heavy metal (rotors, hubs, etc.) that I’ve accumulated. I don’t much care what I get for it, so long as it’s out of the yard.

  5. Nick Flandrey says:

@jim, that’s my take on scrap too. The money is just bonus and small motivator. The real benefit is getting it gone.

    on the scanner-

constables are working a possible drug buy at a local ‘known drug house’ that is a couple of blocks from my house, in my neighborhood.

  7. Nick Flandrey says:

wife says “oh yeah, everyone on the FB neighborhood groups calls that ‘the drug house.'”

    hmm.

    So then what?

Still in Tahoe, but today is a work day. There is a CALSA conference at Squaw Valley Resort. Kalifornia superintendents. The next briefing is, I’m not making this up, “Cultural Sensitivity In Teaching Math.”

    Example:

    Teacher: What is 3 x 3?
    Kid of Color: 8?
    Teacher: That’s correct sweetie!
White Kid: No, it’s really 9!
Teacher: Check you White privelage at the door fukstik.

You can’t mnake this shit up.

I am not surprised in the slightest. These are the same socialists who have called conservatives baby killers and anti-women for several decades now.

Just wait until the hearings. They will try to bork Brett Kavanaugh or try something horrible like they did to Clarence Thomas.

Clarence Thomas and Robert Bork were victims of a Democrat Senate. No one imagined what Gingrich pulled off less than five years later, and Kabuki was the order of the day.

The only problem this time around is that, until McCain assumes room temperature, any nominee has to receive the blessing of Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski. Pence can’t break the tie IIRC.

Susan Collins is a well known RINO. Lisa Murkowski’s father was blown out of office as Governor of Alaska by Sarah Palin in the 2006 Republican Primary. Neither woman is fond of the conservative wing of the party.

As much as I loathe the man for personal business reasons, here’s hoping Rick Scott removes Bill Nelson from that Senior FL Senate seat. Something tells me that McCain, upon his passing, has a done deal from the Governor of AZ to put his wife in his chair for the next two years, cementing the Murkowski-Collins stranglehold on the Senate.

I am going to go optimistic and predict a new low in creating false accusations in the press. His wife will be said to be working K Street and his daughter pulling a train on her high school football team. As for Brett he will be found to have a boyfriend(s). There will also be some discussions on new uses for cigars.

  13. nick flandrey says:

Yep, they aren’t even going for durability with the accusations. As long as it holds up for one round of thrashing in the press, they’ll say anything.

    “Second civil war?

“Sure, if we don’t start fighting back in other ways now. How? Complaints to the police for disturbing the peace/harrassment. Talking back in less dire circumstances. Hell, if it comes to that and you’re feeling assholish, confront them for wearing t-shirts with mass murderers. Bone up on the facts and statistics and get in their face with them.

“But mostly, at home and at work, politely and firmly point out that these tactics are Nazi tactics, and that they are no part of a civil society. Point out they are deluded and crazed partisans. Keep on it.”

He can from all the accounts I have read.

I am fairly sure that at least one SCOTUS justice has got his job with the vice president breaking a tie in the senate.
