By on September 17th, 2015 in Barbara, business, personal, politics

08:21 – I’m losing track of days. Barbara pointed out last night that she’s taking a vacation day tomorrow, not today. For some reason, I was thinking that yesterday was Thursday. At any rate, she’s off tomorrow.

The way things seem to be trending, the American people are making it pretty clear that the last thing they want as president is a politician. On the Republican side, the leaders are: Trump, a demagogue but not a politician; Fiorina, a businesswoman who destroyed Hewlett-Packard, but not a politician; and Carson, a non-entity, but not a politician. On the Democrat side, we have a small group of elderly political hacks, but no non-politicians. Sounds to me like the Democrats are badly in need of a non-politician.

The FedEx guy sneaked up on Colin yesterday, even though the main front door was open and Colin had an unobstructed view of the street through the glass storm door. FedEx delivered one box from walmart.com that contained the five boxes of dog treats that I’d ordered. When I checked the walmart.com site, it claimed my entire order had been delivered, but none of the bottles of Bertolli pasta sauce were in the box. When I checked the FedEx tracking number, it told me that everything had been delivered, but below that line it said that a shipment had been damaged and was being returned to sender. This is the second time this has happened on a Walmart order that contained items in glass.

11:21 – September 30th is Barbara’s last day of work at the law firm. On Thursday, October 1st, she comes to work for our company, The Home Scientist, LLC.

I need to get ready for that so that she can hit the ground running. Actually, I’ll probably give her the rest of that week off so that she can enjoy some free time, unless she just wants to start work immediately. Of course, one of our corporate benefits is that any employee can take as many paid vacation days as he or she wants to.

The first week or two we’ll focus on Barbara learning the business. Eventually, I want her to be able to do everything other than design new kits and write manuals. She doesn’t have any lab experience, so I’ll continue doing stuff like making up chemicals myself, but I will have her at least watching me to get some idea of how it’s done.

I intend to transfer all the administrative to her, including inventory, ordering and receiving, and so on. She’s much more organized and detail-oriented than I am, which isn’t surprising considering that she’s a librarian. I think this will all work out very well. The problem may be in her handling of mistakes. I expect mistakes. They’re just something that has to be dealt with. But Barbara REALLY hates making mistakes, so I’ll have to get her past that. We simply have too much to deal with to expect perfection.

Purely for entertainment value, I’d love to see a Carlson/Fiorina ticket from the Republicans. If nothing else it would be amusing to hear the leftist moonbats explain how Carson is racist and Fiorina is sexist.

  2. Robert Bruce Thompson says:

The last thing we need is Carlson or any other theocrat anywhere near the white house.

  3. nick says:

We’ve had religious presidents before and it just doesn’t matter. Non-issue from a practical standpoint for the citizens.

In any case I’d rather have anyone with a strong belief system, a solid self identity, and a well developed moral code, than the amoral relativist shapeshifters and that we tend to get. At least that way I can make predictions about their actions because they will be more consistent.

I stepped through a door at 9:00 this morning and realized I had failed to call in to check on jury duty last night. I was NOT in the courthouse as required. What ran through my head was everything I needed to do to minimize the damage of not properly bowing before the almighty state.

Then I realized that today is Thursday and I have to make that call at 4:30 pm today for jury duty on Friday.

  5. Robert Bruce Thompson says:

You apparently equate lack of religion with a weak belief system and amorality, which is a canard. Our best presidents have been atheists (or deists, which amounts to the same thing). Our worst have been mostly explicitly religious, and I include Obama in that group.

  6. Tom Lucas says:

I’ve stopped ordering anything in glass bottles from Walmart. They don’t do anything to protect them during shipment, just throw them in the box. I’ve received two shipments with glass containers and both had broken bottles. Even the canned goods I’ve ordered arrived dented.

  7. nick says:

“You apparently equate lack of religion with a weak belief system and amorality, which is a canard.”

Well, this seems to be the norm.

Our founding fathers were exceptional in every meaning of the word. The deists and atheists still had been shaped by their surrounding milieu which was strongly religious. It’s not surprising that their consciously chosen beliefs were equally strong.

  8. Robert Bruce Thompson says:

Give me a break. Their beliefs were not influenced by their religious neighbors any more than mine are by my religious neighbors. They didn’t believe. Nor do you get to attribute their strong belief systems, which they arrived at independent of religious teachings, to some nebulous religious osmosis from the environment.

I mean, I like all of the Mormons I’ve known, but if I moved to Utah I’m not suddenly going to convert to LDS because of the air I’m breathing.

  9. Robert Bruce Thompson says:

Re: walmart shipping, I’ve had mixed experiences, bad initially but better recently. I had an earlier order that experienced the same problems: FedEx returning it to Walmart and Walmart’s terrible web system thinking it had already been delivered. In that case, it was actually redelivered to me the next day, just after I sent them an email telling them the items were missing. The re-shipment had all the stuff in glass wrapped in heavy craft paper to pad it, which all subsequent shipments from them have also used for glass items.

I’m glad that Walmart is battling Amazon. I plan to take advantage of that as long as it continues. But Walmart must be getting killed on shipping costs. My last order was for $55, so it got free shipping. A flour sifter arrived in its own box a few days ago. Then yesterday 10 pounds of dog treats show up in its own box. And now they’re going to have to ship me a dozen or more items in glass bottles in yet a third box.

I’m sure that Walmart has killer deals with UPS and FedEx, but even so.

  10. Miles_Teg says:

    Did Colin ambush the treats?

  11. Miles_Teg says:

If you think Obama is religious I have a bridge I’d like to sell you…

I’d swear you called him an atheist a year or three back.

  12. Jack Smith says:

Obama’s religion is Marxism and anything else is window dressing as a means of gaining power.

  13. dkreck says:

I’ve been having some issues with Amazon Prime shipments. Two day was always the case in the past but lately I’ve had some going over that. An order I placed early yesterday afternoon is set for Monday. I would have thought Friday.

Two weeks ago I ordered a laptop on Thursday, shipped out of Texas on Friday and arrived in San Pablo, little north of Oakland CA, at 4 am on Tuesday. It then set there until late Thursday afternoon when it was put out for delivery to Fresno CA where it arrived on Friday afternoon at 4. Was it Amazon or UPS fault? I don’t care but honestly I think it could have been there Wed (yes labor day fell in there). I week for a medium sized package on Prime! And what was it doing for the 2.5 days it just sat in SP?

  14. nick says:

Were they raised in households devoid of religion? In communities devoid of religion?

Their beliefs were in opposition to and shaped by the surrounding religion as much as a fish is shaped for the water it swims in.

Had they been raised in india as indians, would their beliefs have developed in the same way?

I suppose it’s possible, but seems pretty unlikely.

The long history of man shows a consistent need to invent belief systems to give structure to the universe. Given that, it seems to me that attacking/denigrating/denying another’s particular belief system comes down to ‘my god is better than your god.’ Since this is not provable, there’s not much point to it.

That isn’t to say, that depending on what you value, some belief systems aren’t better at providing those valuable things than others.

If you value individual freedom and liberty, certainly some belief systems will be better at providing and supporting that.

If you value your life as a pampered high priest and hate farmwork, then Aztec human sacrifice works just as well as Anglican christianity of the 1800s for you. Sucks for the sacrifices. Sucks less for the landowners who are tithing to support the church.

Who could be more free in his person than a fundamental islamist? He’s free to take as many wives as he can support. He can beat them if he wants. He can take slaves and treat them as he wants. He can do whatever he wants, within the structure of islam. As long as he doesn’t WANT to do anything outside what that structure provides, he’s more free to act than most. His beliefs give him absolute certainty in his actions. I know several western males who revel in the culture of the middle east for just those reasons.

We are all of us products of our environment. Deism, atheism, agnosticism, they are all as much about what they are not as what they are and I see no real difference from that than Lutheranism vs Roman Catholicism or taoist vs confucianist.

Belief in the supremacy of the individual, is no different than belief in the supremacy of Kali the many armed goddess. It’s belief. It fills the same need for a structure make sense of the universe as any of the religions.

IMHO, obama is a radical moslem on jihad, out of disrespect no capital letters are deserved. (that statement ought to get the NSA snoops ears up). BTW, this is why I use moslem: http://historynewsnetwork.org/article/524

When a moslem is on jihad they do not have to adhere to the laws in any way. This is so that they can surreptitiously perform their duty. They still get their 72 virgins in the end.

Sorry to disagree with you Bob, but HP’s current CEO, Margaret Cushing “Meg” Whitman, is doing far more damage to HP than Cara Carleton “Carly” Fiorina ever did.

After watching Carly’s performance at the “debate” last night, I would put money on her if she was pitted in a cage match with Trump.

Obola is a Utopian Socialist. Once the government is running everything, the government can then turn the entire country, and the world, into a utopia. All previous failures of utopias were due to incompetence of their founders.

Just remember that in Utopian Socialism, the rule still applies. All people are equal but some people are more equal than others.

And, Obola is also a Muslim on Jihad. There are no rules for a Muslim on Jihad, their actions and lies do not matter, it is all about the end goal. And, what is the end goal? Utopian Socialism under Allah.

  21. OFD says:

Again, what one needs to think about, is why it is that the actual rulers, the real powers behind the “throne” of the WH, would allow a socialist muslim creep to run the country, when the actual ruling political structure is a corporate fascist oligarchy. I think they’re having fun with us and toying with us, and the fact that he’s half-white is a bonus for them. It has tended to exacerbate racial tensions and violence as we have seen, on the one hand, and accelerated the increased polarization of ordinary people out here.

The question remains, however, as to which figurehead they’ll put in charge of the asylum next. Gary North is sticking with his prediction that Cankles will get it, but she seems to be falling apart and doing everything she can to blow herself up. From all accounts the Repub “debate” last night was a total frigging joke, so what gives?

At this point, and facing economic/financial disaster writ large and an ongoing worldwide immigration nightmare, I’d almost be ready to see a committee of generals and admirals step in, with enlisted scum advisers and consultants, of course, maybe some old fart veterans. Hard measures would have to be undertaken; it’s either something like that or let’s call the whole thing off and break up the Empire once and for all and get out of that business once and for all.

  23. MrAtoz says:

And the Dumbocrat Chair keeps covering for Cankles on debating. I’m beginning to think she will fold like a pair of BJ’s used shorts. With flakes coming off. Ick.

The libturds are doing everything to get The Mighty Trump ™ as the Redumblican nominee. They think he can’t beat Cankles. Maybe not, but the debate would be sooo entertaining. The Redumblicans are running scared because of TMT’s polling. You’d think the conservatives in the country are tired of the Redumblican Country Club.

  24. OFD says:

Gary North thinks the Repub country club imbeciles are so terrified of Trump as the nominee (and they will NEVER nominate him) that they’ll do anything to not have to, including whatever it takes to bring Mittens back. Because the Jebster just ain’t gonna cut it and Carson is impossible and there’s no one else. So, maybe Mittens vs. Cankles.

The “conservatives” in the country WERE tired of the country club, and so they organized the Flea Party dopes, with their phony Revolutionary hats and clown costumes (whereas in real life back then they wouldn’t have been fit to lick the dust from a real patriot’s buckled shoes or boots). These clowns made it to Mordor and promptly joined the enemy, of course, and in any case, they were/are one-issue cretins; all they give a shit about is their money, period. Wars mean nothing, immigration means nothing, but threaten their SS or IRA or Roth or stock market funds and they crap themselves. Where are they now?

So Trump has been generating some numbers, as has Sanders on the other side, but in the end, the regime gets what it wants. Probably Mittens, as Cankles don’t look like she can run the course much longer, no matter how much help she gets from her hardcore fembat supporters. Obummer has washed his hands of her and given his green light to Bipolar Joe, and where is Larry Klinton in all this?

In my haste this morning I neglected to give due credit to the labeling of “o” as a Marxist Socialist, and the relation to islam.

Another twist of history is the relation of the nazis to the moslems. And what about Stalin, what role does he play in this path of return of the mahdi and end times?

Why is it that we so easily accept that we are predestined to fulfill these prophecies of the end times? We supposedly have free will. But is that just a part of the fiction that the “elders” have passed down through time?

    What is your tribe?

The problem may be in her handling of mistakes. I expect mistakes. They’re just something that has to be dealt with. But Barbara REALLY hates making mistakes, so I’ll have to get her past that.

I don’t suppose that it would work to point out that expecting perfection in a repetitive task performed by humans is a mistake? Contra my norm, that’s a mostly serious suggestion.

One thing also to ponder, a real Muslim man has four wives. So, for this to be a Utopia under Allah, all men must have four wives. Therefore, the population needs to be 20% men and 80% women. Since the lottery of birth declares that there will be 50% men and 50% women, something must be done with 80% of the male babies.

BTW, is this Utopia under Allah just for men? Or is it for women also?

And what about the other sexes? How can this be their Utopia under Allah?

I submit that there can be no Utopia under Allah.

I know that if it was me that was in that store I would have feared for my life and the weapon would have been discharged multiple times into those clowns (pun intended). May have even reloaded and emptied the gun again.

Oh man, how could I forget? The number one country in the world of male to female conversions is Iran. So, the simple answer is just convert 60% of the men to women and that solves the Utopia under Islam issue. One day a guy is Mohamed, the next she is Caitlyn.

    Oh wait, he actually said,

“Jeff Dunham: [Walter is complaining about suicide bombers] You know, Walter, those guys actually believe that if they martyred themselves like that, there’ll be 72 virgins waiting for ’em in paradise.
Walter: Well, April Fool, dumb-ass! If there are virgins waiting for you, there’ll be 72 guys just like you! “Oh, no, this is not what Osama said it would be!” Seventy-two virgins? Why not 72 slutty broads who know what the hell they’re doing?”
