It was 44 degrees and calm when I took Colin out at 7:30.

Things are pretty much the same as yesterday.

Hang in there Barbara. I know how frustrating things are for you and Bob. It sounds like you have a good support group, don’t be afraid to lean on them.

Best wishes, hopes, and prayers for everyone.

Dad’s Sciatica started acting up on Monday, after a few year hiatus. Getting worse by the day. I’ll just have to ride it out in my recliner like I did last time. Mrs. Dad’s root canal on Tuesday went well, then it reversed course and she’s back in tremendous pain. The Endodontist is really busy with folks using up their dental benefits before the end of the year (not an issue for us, we have to pay cash). He has promised that he’ll get her in today, he’d better.

Well I have sat in the chair as long as I can stand. Have to recover so I can drive Mrs. Dad to the Endodontist (positive thinking).

Yep, it’s gonna be some time before things are back to normal. I’m sure it’s scary and frustrating, but it is getting better and will continue to get better.

@Dad-the-chef – did you wear different shoes? Sit in a different chair? spend longer than normal driving? All those things trigger my back and leg pain, esp when something like the seat edge cuts across my thigh for any length of time.

I make sure to adjust my truck seat to avoid the pressure, I have a step that I rest my feet on at the computer if I’m just kicking back reading or watching vids, and I no longer wear my older shoes… these have all helped me. Vitamin B supplements help me with foot and leg pain (different cause but similar triggers) too.

reversed course and she’s back in tremendous pain

The pain can be excruciating. I had an abscess develop late on Friday night. Could not get to the dentist until Monday. The pain was one of those that will make you cry, bury your head in a pillow on the bed and want to scream. OTC pain meds were useless. Got an appointment first thing Monday morning (dentist is small town dentist who I have used for 30 years) which resulted in the pulling of the tooth. A root canal was not a good option due to a large filling in the tooth. A lot of strong antibiotics and I was good in a couple of days.

I now have two missing teeth in the back of my mouth. One from the incident above, the other from a cavity in molar where the cavity was next to the other tooth. Dentist said the cavity could not be filled and thus the removal.

I also have an implant on a front tooth. Original tooth was broken playing racquetball, emergency surgery on the mouth and emergency root canal to try and save the tooth. It was capped but only lasted a couple of years before the cap came off with part of the tooth. Capped again and broke in a couple of years again removing part of the tooth. Was not enough left to cap again. So tooth was extracted and an implant installed.

Involved, and expensive process. First pull the tooth. Let the gum heal and bone grow back for about six months. Then slit the gum, drill into the bone, install the first part of the implant, let that heal for a couple of months. Then slit the gum again and install the temporary post letting that heal for a couple of months. A temporary tooth is placed over the post. The the actual making of a new temporary tooth, removing the temporary post, install the actual post torqued to a specific value (that hurt), then install the temporary tooth, let that heal for a couple of months. Then the actual installation of the final tooth.

Biggest danger of an implant. Any strike in the mouth that would break a tooth will now break the bone instead. That metal post and base unit apparently do not bend or break and will take bone with it if the impact is hard enough.

Michael Flynn Charged should serve as reminder to never, ever, say anything to any federal agent. Do not answer questions, do not speak, do not say hello, say absolutely nothing, remain completely silent. Don’t even fart.

Which is just F’d up. When did we vote the b@stards all this power and authority?

Note that it’s the FBI and they are about the most politicized and compromised law enforcement agency outside of Boss Hogg’s Sheriff’s dept….

I’m sure Flynn got the “grand jury” treatment: talk, plea bargain, or get thrown in jail until you do. I suspect his deal is to protect his son and get minimum jail time.

  9. MrAtoz says:

The rumor is Flynn will “tRump made me talk to the Russkies”. Presidents say illegal stuff all the time. Flynn, a four star, has no excuse for following an illegal “order”. If it was even that.

  10. Ray Thompson says:

    If it was even that.

Just ask Martha Stewart. If the feds want your ass, they will get your ass, with little you can do. Trumped up charges, lies, illegal evidence gathering. Best advice is say nothing to feds about anything. Silence is the golden rule.

  11. nick flandrey says:

Some would call talking to foreigners “diplomacy”. dept of State certainly does it all the time. I’m also sure that some large percentage of EVERY meaningful exchange is ‘off the record’ or backchannel, or a ‘friend at the club’ just ‘having a conversation.’ That is how the world works, esp. the world of business which is the dominant mental paradigm for Trump.

Is it in our interest as a country to be able to talk to the remaining world player, and NOT live under the shadow of nuclear fire? Or should we alienate, and aggravate that power?

The previous administration gave up Ukraine for their own ends FFS.

BTW, anyone think ol’ Ronnie didn’t make a deal with the iranians while a candidate? Or were they just so sh!t scared they released the hostages on their own? 444days. Never forget.

Sh*t scared. I watched the inauguration in 1981, and the Iranians couldn’t load the hostages onto that airplane fast enough in the split screen view from DC and Tehran. The Mullahs made sure the plane was in the air before Reagan stopped speaking.

Reagan before and after the assassination attempt is like a night and day difference. To see the former, find his late 70s appearances with Johnny Carson on YouTube. At least one is out there on the official Carson channel IIRC.

  14. JimL says:

My Dad voted for Carter in ’80 because he thought Reagan would get us into WWIII. In 84 he voted for Reagan because he realized Reagan was right.

    https://www.cnbc.com/2017/12/01/why-saudi-prince-bin-talals-friends-havent-protested-his-arrest-commentary.html

“But since November 5, bin Talal has been detained in a room at the Ritz Carlton in Riyadh. The hotel has become a de facto prison for more than 200 of his fellow princes and Saudi officials as new Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman conducts a sweeping and stunning purge of his real and potential political opponents.”

Wow. Saudi Arabia might actually make it as Salman is cleaning house before he ascends the throne of Saud in January.

Yes. I have been interviewed by both the FBI and CIA. I should have told them to go pound sand.

Don’t forget that Flynn was fired by Trump for lying to the Vice President.

Rush says that Flynn was ordered to talk to the Russians during the transition about coordinating our efforts in Syria and Libya. One wonders what else Flynn did.

    Yup.

  19. RickH says:

Just one of many times Jerry said “don’t talk to the feds”; this was in 2013:

Ms. Stewart was charged with lying to a federal officer by denying that she had done something that was not a crime even if she had done it. The conclusion to draw from the Martha Stewart case is that you should not cooperate with any federal officer for any reason whatever, lest you end up in a jail cell. When I was growing up we were taught that the authorities were our friends and we had a civic duty to cooperate with them; but surely not at the peril of being sent to Club Fed because you said you hadn’t done something that wasn’t a crime to begin with? Unless you have perfect memory, you are likely to get a detail wrong. If you have a detail wrong, you can end up in jail.

With a bit of the googles, you can find Jerry saying this back in 2004: https://www.jerrypournelle.com/archives2/archives2mail/mail303.html#Stewart

    Just saying…

  20. MrAtoz says:

Rush says that Flynn was ordered to talk to the Russians during the transition about coordinating our efforts in Syria and Libya.

If that’s it, the only thing to see here is Flynn lied and got witch-hunted. I don’t see how this translates into collusion with the Russkies to get rid of Cankles. Maybe something else will come to light.

YUUUP, reminds me, several years back some Special Needs types were arguing with me on technical issues over here:
    https://forums.geocaching.com/GC/index.php?/forum/11-gps/

Then they got personal and demeaned me by stating that I used standard, traditional USA units while, they the smart people, used SI (metric) units.

My response was that I used that which worked for the bicycle mechanics at Kitty Hawk and when I thought that I became smarter than they were, I would switch to MKS.

Now, which do the AlGurglars use for global warming fraud:
    1. °R and BTU or,
    2. °K and cal’s?

  23. lynn says:

Now, which do the AlGurglars use for global warming fraud:

The “program” that I saw used degrees C. I am fairly sure that there was no mention of energy in the program, just a geometric progression on the temperature. There was no science in this program whatsoever.

In fact, they cannot put true science into the global warming programs. A true global warming program would require full energy and material balance around the plants up into the stratosphere. Way too many details and never going to happen.

  24. SteveF says:

It’s illustrative to put up a map of all the nations in the world which use the metric system.

And then hold that next to a map of all the nations in the world which have put a man on the moon.

Yah, the metric system is better by almost any metric (yes, that was a pun) but the condescension of the metritards gets annoying.

Michael Flynn: I don’t know anything at all about the case. That said, lying to a federal officer should not be a crime. It’s clear that the intent of this law was basically good, but it is regularly abused to entrap people. Who doesn’t make a mistake? Misremember? Misstate something? As far as I know, you aren’t allowed to make your own recording of any interview, so ultimately they can lie about what you said.

Hard to believe RBT has been in the hospital for four weeks?! Hope he starts making rapid progress.

  29. Roger Ritter says:

Another point in the traditional vs. metric fight is that traditional units of temperature are better fitted to human life. In traditional, we go from 0 degrees (damn cold) to 100 degrees (hot). Metric goes from 0 degrees (cold) to 100 degrees (dead). Metric fits the laboratory better, but traditional’s better for living.
