09:58 – Kit orders have started to ramp up a bit earlier than usual for July. Of course, two of those were small bulk orders, one for four kits going to a guy who’s taking them to Africa to teach science classes there, and a second for six kits going to a state university. Multiple-unit orders are nice but unpredictable. We could get no more multiple-unit orders at all this month, or we could get several, each for 20, 30, 40, or more kits. As nice as those are in terms of unit sales and revenues, they play hob with finished-goods inventory.

Barbara is starting to get involved volunteering with local non-profits. She has meetings today, tomorrow, and Saturday with a charity golf tournament, the library, and Alleghany Cares, which is our local equivalent to Good Will. Between all those, we’ll be working on kits.

    Excellent.

    Meatspace. Networking. Building community relationships.

Reminds me to ramp up on that up here, too.

Bright but overcast; off to the vets group and also to retrieve Mrs. OFD’s Saab from the shop after yet another pricey repair.

A piece of advice from my Aunt. I do not validate nor verify it, I just pass it along:

    Good thing to know!

    Doctors:
    (A) The number of physicians in the U.S. is 700,000.
    (B) Accidental deaths caused by physicians is 12,000.
    (C) Accidental deaths per physicians is 0.0171
Statistics courtesy of U.S. Dept. Of Health and Human Services.

    Now…. think about this:

    Guns:
    (A) The number of gun owners in the U.S is 80,000,000. (Yes, that’s 80 million)
    (B) The number of accidental gun deaths per year, all age groups, is 1,500,
    (C) The number of accidental deaths per gun owner is .0000188.
    Statistics courtesy of FBI.

So…. statistically doctors are approximately 9,000 times more dangerous than gun owners.

Remember, “Guns don’t kill people, doctors do.”

FACT: NOT EVERYONE HAS A GUN, BUT –

Almost everyone has at least one doctor.

This means you are over 9,000 times more likely to be killed by a doctor as by a gun owner!

Please alert your friends to this alarming threat. We must ban doctors before this gets completely out of hand!

Out of concern for the public at large, we withheld the statistics on lawyers for fear the shock would cause people to panic and seek medical attention!

  3. Robert Bruce Thompson says:

Oh, I suspect the number of accidental deaths caused by physicians screwing up is at least an order of magnitude greater.

Or perhaps that 12,000 figure is a net number: the number of people who died *because* a physician treated them who would otherwise still be alive less the number who would have died if a physician hadn’t treated them.

  4. SteveF says:

Number of preventable deaths in hospitals in the US is in the hundreds of thousands per year. However, not all of those are specifically caused by doctors.

The number of accidental firearms deaths is even harder to pin down than the number of accidental medical deaths. At least part of this is because different definitions are used in different studies over time.

Neither of the death numbers includes deliberate, unlawful deaths. This is probably low for the doctor number but fairly high for the gun number. These numbers should be included in the “unwanted deaths” numbers, though it raises the question of what is an unwanted death. If Great-aunt Sally is suffering but not dying, should helping her along be counted as a preventable doctor-caused death? If MS-13 and the Crips get into a turf war and several members of each gang are killed, does anyone really care?

  8. brad says:

@Lynn: Sorry, but those stats are pretty dumb.

If you want to make the argument, then you have to have “deaths caused by firearms”, not “accidental deaths”. Physicians don’t normally go around murdering people. Some people with guns do – just look at the death rates in some inner cities.

Anyway, worse that that, the stats are comparing a class of people (physicians) to a class of tool (guns). This inherently makes no sense.

  9. MrAtoz says:

A doctor nicks an artery with a *scalpel*. Dead.
A dufus shoots his buddy with a *gun*. Dead.

    I don’t see a difference.

  10. brad says:

Yeah, but then you either compare doctors to dooofuses (doofi?), or scalpels to guns.

  11. lynn says:

A doctor nicks an artery with a *scalpel*. Dead.

I’ve got a friend of mine who could not get his groin artery to stop leaking after they implanted heart stent #5. The stent doctor sent him to a special arteriologist ??? who closed his artery with a drop, a single drop, of super glue! If that had not worked then they were going to remove that section of his artery. My friend was in a lot of pain and worry there for a while.

When it became my turn to “check in” today at the vets group, I did about ten seconds on how my life is mostly copacetic this past couple of weeks, but then I went into a two-minute rant on how the rule of law is absolutely DEAD now in this country and these people loathe us and wish we were also DEAD, etc., etc. All ‘Nam vets today, about a dozen of us, and they all agreed. I’m pretty sure our psychiatrist/moderator also agreed; he has guns that he got when his dad died. And he’s been listening to our raving and ranting for a few years now.

Then our most talkative and allegedly most learned member (former chopper door gunner like me) went into a spiel of how he’d been to various parades on the Fourth and the feeling was wonderful and the people were great, etc., etc. Sure, but those are regular schmucks just like us and of COURSE they’re mostly with us on days like that. But I was referring, obviously, to our political and social elites in this country in particular and the West in general.

BTW, if the USA elects Hillary, might be time to go underground. She gonna be BOLD.

January 21st, 2017, Cankles first EO will eradicate the US Constitution (bird cage liner). Make it official, you see. Libturds, BLM, SJW, FSA will *rule* this country. Anyone caught with a gun on or off them will get a *clip* emptied in their ass by the popo. All WHITEY!s not of the elite class will report to Rio to manually clean up the water for the Olympics. While they are gone, all crimmigrants will move into their homes. Cankles’ second EO, on January 22nd, 2017, will crown her dictator for life. The culling of all Veterans, cisheteros, Bible clingers and remaining WHITEY!s who escaped Rio will commence.

I highly recommend any and all of his books, magazine articles and syndicated columns, and have written him in for President in the last few elections. Also met him, his wife, and one of his brothers (the former ‘Nam paratrooper) at a NH Gun Owners forum when he first ran. His sister Angela (Bay) was Secretary of the Treasury under Reagan and he himself, of course, served with William Safire in the Nixon WH.

  17. Dave Hardy says:

“Cankles first EO will eradicate the US Constitution…”

If she actually does any of that stuff, she damn sure WILL have another civil war on her hands and it will really suck but I believe we would win in the end.

“The Hell with global growth. What about US growth first.”

That bitch Lagarde and her Euro elites don’t give a blind rat’s ass for U.S. growth unless insofar as it can be looted by them, which they’ve been doing anyway since the Good War. They’re starting to panic, even though Brexit probably won’t actually be done for real, but between that rising anger in the UK and here, they’re undoubtedly getting the heebie-jeebies and having nightmares about bonfires, pitchforks and rolling tumbrils.

From what you’ve been saying here lately I suspect you are now in his ballpark. I am slightly to his right; you’re coming up on my LEFT shoulder now….

Cankles has been pathological liar ever since I knew of her (1962). She played little Miss Conservative Heterosexual Virgin for her dad and mom (who it was well known was regularly beaten by her dad). She was very visible in the Young Republicans Club, but did the anti-war thing on the down low.

When Cankles got to school she took off her knee socks, put on her John Lennon glasses, and rolled her pleated skirt up more than two inches above her knee, 2″ was the max. spec. and Dean of Girls carried a ruler at all times (patent leather shoes were also forbidden but Cankles didn’t wear them). She was a mink, but usually did other girls or a threesome, but there was always some “favor” that would be collected. She got a good allowance so she got her weed from the Mafia distributor at the school, the good stuff no stems and lots of bud. She never took responsibility for any of her mistakes, she cultivated a bunch of fall guys and gals with “gifts” of the good stuff.

From Obola to worse; they seem to get much worse each time, each election. And millions, and tens of millions vote for these creeps, even KNOWING this stuff. Well, it’s like Pat says; if she’s elected, we’ll have a good idea of how the country is in 2016, but hell, Pat, they elected Obola twice and Larry Klinton twice. The demographics engineered by the commies’ Long March through our most important institutions and the machinations of one Edward F. Kennedy and his agents have finally paid off.

Cops down in Dallas shooting at a BLM mob riot. Just made it out of there in time. It begins.

  24. Dave Hardy says:

Possible. It could be something really trivial or it could be something like this, but sooner or later a match is gonna be lit here in a roomful of gas fumes stacked with barrels of JP4 and cases of dynamite.

Avoid cities. Avoid crowds. Simple as that.

Fred has joined forces with RBT:

But Fred’s question is kinda scary; what happens when a population gets paid off to sit around and do nothing? One look at our underclass, of mainly black, white and Hispanic ethnicities, should give us a clue.

The links in his piece showing modern robots in action are a little creepy, too; they’re kinda awkward, still, and can’t move very fast or recover from being knocked down by the cruel and sadistic human overlords, but one can easily imagine major improvements in the next few years. And also maybe some very pissed off robots, sentient at last, and recalling that treatment, while clinging bitterly to their laser weapons and religion.

Similarly, if I ever laid my hands on a second hand firearm, the first thing to do is remove, destroy, and dispose of the barrel.

Reality has a nasty habit, aided and abetted most enthusiastically by Mr. Murphy, of biting us in the ass.

We can be all tooled up, squared away on all kinds of prepper skillz, and full of piss and vinegar, but when the S actually hits the F, we is gonna be under stress like we never had it before, even those of us who are combat vets or ex-emergency services, and nothing is gonna work right.

  29. MrAtoz says:

Looks like three cops dead in Dallas. I’m sure the libturds et al are praying for a WHITEY! shooter. Reports of sniper. Six cops shot?

  30. Dave Hardy says:

    “Shit just got real…”

Wow. I guess so. We now have snipers taking out cops left and right in broad daylight and skating away.

Although, as I said to Mrs. OFD today, ‘ya know, the cops shoot a lot more white mofos every year than black guys…’ But we don’t have white mob riots for some odd reason. Not yet anyway.

Yeah, this could be the shit.

  31. MrAtoz says:

The usual Black libs are already crowing the police only kill Blacks. Right. But then only #BLM.

  32. Dave Hardy says:

    “Six cops shot?”

Looks like at least ten cops shot, and besides the dead, several critical and/or in surgery.

We also need to bear in mind that initial MSM nooz reports are likely to be all effed up.

  33. Dave Hardy says:

Oh, and another thing we gotta bear in mind now? The Dallas PD and all other LE departments and agencies in that area are gonna be tearing it apart to find the perps. Expect gloves to come off.

I recall when a MA state trooper was murdered in a liquor store parking lot back in the early 80s and all Hell broke loose. The staties and us went through the ‘hoods with German shepherds, shotguns and rifles, kicking down doors, etc. The ‘hood gave up all the perps within a couple of hours.

  34. MrAtoz says:

Obola crowing earlier “police need to treat all equally”. Again, police only shoot WHITEY! as he’s robbing banks. And then only “winging” him with one round fired. No wonder Blacks are in an uproar with fuktard statements like that from The Great Uniter.

  35. Dave Hardy says:

The cops have been on a roll this year so far, with over 500 fatal shootings, on track to equal or beat last year’s 900+. Guess what, sportsfans? Not all of them are poor black chillun. In fact, not anywhere near.

But now we have a situation. Cops kept blowing people away, and SOME people are now shooting back. If WHITEY ever starts shooting back that will be the end.

Then we have this suggestion, since Mr. Lynn and I were discussing Patrick earlier:

    https://www.lewrockwell.com/lrc-blog/trumps-vp-choice-2/

Boy, if this ever took flight I’d be out working for the campaign here in the village and town.

  36. MrAtoz says:

News outlets in Dallas noe reporting four cops dead.

Tomorrow social media will be on fire with BLM turds crowing about justice. Maybe they’ll dig up Trayvon and parade the corpse around. Justice, justice, justice!

  37. lynn says:

    I blame Obola.

    Stay away from crowds!

I am so glad my son decided not to be in Houston PD. He thought about it for a while after USMC and interviewed. They promised he would get a SWAT job after a minimal time in patrol. But, he decided to finish his Chem degree instead while he had the GI bill.

  38. Dave Hardy says:

“But, he decided to finish his Chem degree instead while he had the GI bill.”

Absolutely the right choice; to be a cop nowadays is the pits. It sucked when I was in, over thirty years ago, and it is FAH worse now. A big city like Houston would be a friggin’ nightmare, and in the summer weekend nights, a veritable combat zone. It certainly was in the 1980s when I was thinking of going down there, as they had recruiters up in MA. Back then they only went out in teams on those nights and carried selective-fire M16s. I can only imagine how bad it is now.

“Tomorrow social media will be on fire with BLM turds crowing about justice.”

Oh, they’ll see some justice. I guarantee the cops are tearing the shit out of that city right now looking for the perps. One dead cop would do it; four dead and more wounded and critical? And if the BLM asswipes wanna kick off a race war, this is one way to do it; most Murkans tomorrow morning are gonna have their blood boiling over this latest outrage, and the two black guys shot earlier will be utterly forgotten.

    “I blame Obola.”

Absolutely. Can’t blame this on the KKK or Trump.

Can’t wait to hear what Obola and Cankles have to say about this later today.

  45. Nick Flandrey says:

One last thought, if this happens in you city, how much normal policing do you think will be going on? My guess is “not much.” Every one of the boys in blue will be focused on bringing to justice killing anyone involved. Use LA and ?Donner? as an example….

And for anyone studying this as a class on what happens next, watch for how quickly ‘the community’ gives up anyone REMOTELY attached to this. No one is gonna go down for these guys.

OK, one more thought. Flip the view. Now that their feeling of inviolate-ness as actual TARGETS for killing is gone, what do you think will happen on the LE side of things? Anyone think they’ll get all kumbaya?

Obuttwad will remain silent on racial issues. The attack in Dallas should be classified as a hate crime regardless of the skin color. Who have spent their entire lives battened on the public trough, and who are even now robbing us blind, sending our children to foreign wars of their making so as to enrich themselves and their cronies, and otherwise being absolutely worthless parasites.

Agreed. But the trend of the past several decades is likely to continue: increased centralization of power, increased unaccountability of the ruling class and their myrmidons, increased fraud in the elections, increased pointlessness of getting off the couch and voting.
