And another hot day. Pretty much should be like yesterday, and if we don’t cross 100F in the afternoon, I’ll blame global cooling. It’s still cooler than several years in the last 10, but 100F and humidity in the 90%RH range is plenty unpleasant, especially if you are in the sun.
Which I tried to avoid, but was somewhat unsuccessful while teaching D1 how to pull the door card and change out her mirror. The fusion blast was especially strong on my head yesterday. D1 actually did part of the work, fastening and unfastening bolts and screws. She put most of the door back together.
Then I took some stuff to the shop and puttered there for a bit. Found two computers in a box lot of junk electronics. I’ll have to power them up and see what I got. Also received the luggage I bought on ebay. It was in like new condition… so I’m very pleased. I had to disassemble part of the handle mechanism and put it back together, it had become jammed, presumably in shipping. Took a little time to figure it out, but it went back together easily enough.
Today I’ve got an appointment in the morning to get the new tires put on D1’s ride, then I’m doing pickups. It’s mostly household supplies and stuff for the BOL. The auctions are spread out around town which is annoying and will take longer than I’d like. Still, the savings are significant.

For those who claim that it will be impossible to deport all the illegal aliens, I have a modest Swiftian proposal:
Inasmuch as no illegal alien still in this country can claim that they are in any way innocent of the crime or of not knowing that they should GTFO, and it is a scientific fact that the human body is upwards of 98% water, I propose dehydrating them in the interest of saving weight, reducing volume, and eliminating the need for life support on departing flights.
It would also make the flights much shorter, as we can load a Boeing C17 with 2×25,000 lb “pre-packs”–approximately 25,000 dehydrated and encapsulated illegal alien invaders–fly it out over the ocean, open the rear cargo hatch and drop the cargo. With suitable packaging we could get the added benefit of creating artificial reefs and increase fishing opportunities.
With 100 C17’s in the fleet making a conservative four trips per day in short turn-around scheduling, that would be 10 million illegal alien invaders per day, putting the lie to claims of a transportation bottle neck.
As a practical matter the bottleneck would move to the dehydration step, which would probably require taking some failed green tech such as the Ivanpah Solar Bird Fryer and repurposing it. Back of the envelope indicates limiting the C17 requirement to 10 planes serviced by 100 IED’s (Ivenpah-Equivalent Dehydrators) each would give a throughput capable of solving the problem in a month when fully operational, give or take a few days depending on the variable length of daylight.
It is also perfectly predictable that applying such a large hammer to the problem would lead us to finding other nails, which immediately suggests that the Commie Problem, the Progressive Problem, the Democrat Problem, and others of diminishing size down to perhaps the Bad Haircut Problem could also be solved with the same apparatus*.
Indeed, it is expected that once the current crop of AI’s examine this brilliant plan the construction will begin immediately as they come to the obvious conclusion that it is a perfect way to solve the Humanity Problem.

I have the ringer on my OOMA turned off, and the volume turned way down. If I’m sitting next to it (in my office) I can just hear that the answering part picked up and that someone is or isn’t leaving a message.

I can’t remember the last time I made an outgoing call on it, I might not even have a phone handset attached.
