Warm and humid here in FL. Maybe a bit cooler than usual for this time of year? Hard for me to know, as I can’t remember last year when we were here.
Spent the day recovering. I hurt my neck on one of the coasters and I think that is making me feel ‘weird’. I’ll know better today.
Today we move to the next part of our trip. We’ve got a 1pm appointment so it’ll be re-packing and driving for a bit.
I’ve got solid, if not blindingly fast, internet so I’ll get the next 5 days stubbed out for the site. If I have time. It was too late and I was feeling too weird last night to be sure I’d get all the times right.

Take some time today to remember our absent friends. Anniversaries are a good time to spend a little extra effort.

Unusually, I’m at a bit of a loose end. I probably ought to go and buy some respectable-looking summer clothes, but I am not feeling inspired to subject myself to shop assistants and changing rooms. Meh. Maybe I will just read my book. I am noticing, without liking, how small the print in paper books has become. I got used to, and spoiled by, the Kindle and selecting large fonts. Getting old sucks, but less so than not getting older, I suppose.

Vertical. Mostly not sore, which is an improvement. Swelling in the neck can lead to all sorts of unpleasantness, but because of my normal medical regimen, I can’t add additional anti-inflammatory drugs… no stacking allowed. in any case, I feel better today.
Remembered to actually download several new books to my kindle. They show up in my library, but aren’t actually on the device until you request them. I may not be able to get the kindle on the internet due to their limited browser so I’m glad I remembered.
Folding laundry. Having a laundry machine in the middle of the trip makes it a lot easier to pack…

I reread the well printed and well bound POD (print on demand) trade paperback published by the Nancy Yost Literary Agency in 2025 that I bought from Amazon in 2025. I am reading it for third time already, very unusual for me in just one year. I am eagerly awaiting the release of book number two in the series. By the reception on Amazon and elsewhere, many other people are impatiently waiting also.

Article discusses increasing the production and release of sterile male screwworm flies, and faster building of production facilities to create more sterile males that can be released. Females can only mate once, so increasing the number of sterile males can decrease egg production.
The article also mentions the risk to the cattle industry, noting that there may be an increase in meat prices due to this. I’m inclined to agree, although I don’t know much about the cattle industry other than there is currently a smaller supply due to drought and feed prices, etc.
There is some concern that the feds aren’t being very transparent about the infestation, and don’t show much of a sense of urgency in their response.
And beef imports are not the issue, nor is border crossings of people. Beef from Mexico has been blocked for a while. From the same article:
