Cool and clear, but warming significantly later. Supposed to be nice. It was mid 70sF when I went to bed. Forecast looks good for a nice weekend.

I spent Friday doing stuff. A few things got done around the house, then I started my errands and they kept me busy until almost 8pm. It’s a great life, if you don’t weaken.

Today I’m headed to the BOL where a huge list awaits my attention. HUGE. But I will get at least a few things done. Well, probably just started, not finished, but we’ll see.

Sometimes the list gets re-ordered, and sometimes it gets ignored. Sometimes things get the attention they need. We’ll see if this is one of those times.

One thing that always gets some attention is stacking. I’ve got stuff and fuel to stack on this trip. And relationships to strengthen. The relationships are probably the part most people skip when they’re prepping. Don’t. They will be critical to success or failure.

Cool to start, but clear and warming later. The sun was like a laser and a phase conjugate mirror aiming system, and my arm was like a giant jiffy pop popcorn… It was HOT in the sun yesterday. Should be again today, and tomorrow.

Spent the morning getting ready for my afternoon. Most of my pickups don’t even open until 10am, and yesterday I had one at 11am and one at 2pm… that’s opening time. So not only am I trying to combine trips geographically, but in time as well. Anyhow, I did my pickups. Emptied the truck after and now I’ve got today’s pickups.

Today I’m on the other side of town picking up. I’ll also be dropping in on my auctioneer to see if he’s really sure he can’t fit some of my stuff in. If not, I’m going to go to a new guy. I need to get this stuff selling…

So I can buy some other stuff. Like a new boat lift at the BOL, or a deck, or replacement for the rotted dock posts, or all the other things… like a shed for the mower and mower stuff. Retaining walls. Tree felling. Mower deck. And the list goes on.

It’s a great life, if you don’t weaken…

It was 75F most of yesterday at the BOL, in the shade anyway. Hotter in the sun and there was more sun than in Houston. Should be another fine day here today.

Yesterday I spent the morning getting ready to head up here, then the afternoon getting here. Details of after that are in yesterday’s comments.

Today I’ll unload the truck and do some minor chores. I might do my Spring maintenance on the mower, if I feel like I have time. And if I can find the supplies I need. It’s desperately in need of pressure washing, and new sharp blades. A smart man would change the oil and filters too.

Otherwise, there is a list of things that need doing, but I want to be home earlier than usual. I might find some small things to fill the day. And some of my choices will depend on when I wake up.

Always be working, always stack.

Not bugging out though. Warm. It’s been warm these last two days, starting as if it was cool, but getting to 80F pretty quickly. We had sun and some clouds most of yesterday, enough clouds that I didn’t load the truck, but no actual rain, and quite a bit of sunshine. I expect fewer clouds and more sunshine today.

I did get a couple of things done. Almost $100 for the aluminium scrap from the laptop things, and I kept the heavy cast aluminum caster bases. Paid for the lot, and $20/hour for scrapping, and I get to keep the batteries, chargers, and inverters. Win.

Took a load of trash to the dumpster too.

Then stopped in and saw my buddy and his wife at the Fun Store, did a quick trip through Goodwill, got gas and food at Costco, and made it home to make steak dinner for me and my wife. That will be our anniversary dinner. 21 years and counting.

Today I’m going to load up the truck and head to the BOL. We have a community cleanup day (which I will miss, but I do more than my share by mowing communal property, and all the road work and grading I did this year) and our annual LOA meeting. Our LOA is the Land Owners Association (like HOA) and had expired so has no enforcement ability. The dues are voluntary, and the meeting is mainly about road maintenance and one guy who always b!tches about his neighbor’s lot conditions. I like to be seen as participating and part of the community, so I always go.

It’ll be a short trip as I really just have to unload the truck, mow, and attend the meeting. I’ll probably sleep in Sunday and then come home. I don’t intend to stay late.

Of course, everything is subject to change.

The only certainty is that the universe laughs at our plans, and I’ll continue stacking.

Cool and damp, then warm and damp. Yesterday at the BOL was the nicest day of the year. Cool, crisp, sunny and bright. More please.

Did my thing at the BOL in the morning. Tried to do a number of things in the afternoon, but mostly spent it trying to clear a drain.

Today, I’m sleeping in a bit, the back at it.

Dunno what happened to the post, or if I wrote one. Not really sure. Meds kicked in for my back and I went to sleep. Thought I did everything I usually do…

Cool and damp to start, but should warm up and the local forecast calls for sunny and clear. Yesterday was nice, despite some overcast and a bit of coolness. Today should be nice too.

Did Easter with the kids. As long as they want to do kid stuff, I’m willing to play along. Our “big” meal was Saturday night, so they could head home in the afternoon Sunday. Kids have stuff to do this week.

I got the outdoor stuff mostly done, and even started on moving stuff around and sorting, but didn’t get any “real” work from the list done. That is the plan for today.

If I can get a couple of things started, even just to prep for the next visit, I’ll feel good about staying up here. There is a lot to do and we’re busy for most of the next couple months worth of weekends. I will probably have to come up mid-week at some point, if only to cut the grass. I really need to crank out a few things to feel like I’m making progress.

I need to look at some of the stacks here too, it’s been long enough now that some of it might be aging out. Fortunately, my storage conditions are actually better up here than at home. Still should probably rotate some things.

There’s always more to do.

Mid 70sF and probably damp. Maybe even wet. We apparently got almost 4 inches of rain on Thursday, and there was water on the garage floor when W arrived. It was mostly cloudy when I arrived, but the forecast is for rain. Lake is very high.

I did a bunch of things in the morning, including writing checks and going to the mailbox. I also did some ebay correspondence. Then I got the truck loaded, two new propane bottles filled, and headed out.

When I got here I did a quick and brutal mow of the front and side areas. It was pretty dark when I finished so I bet it looks bad. The grass was about 18″ on the side area and I mostly pushed it over with the mower. It has to look better than the overgrowth. If not, I’ll mow again. Weather permitting.

And if the weather is nice, I’ll do outdoor stuff, including hanging some cameras and pulling cat cable, as well as getting the mower serviced and put to good use. If it’s not nice, I’ll do inside stuff. There is plenty to do.

Too much really. I need to find some stuff to outsource. I can’t do it all, even if I could do the work. I just don’t have time.

I will do what I can in the mean time.
