Thur. Sept. 25, 2025 – 092525 – who was that masked man?

By on September 25th, 2025 in open thread

Yeah, it’s gonna be around 76F this morning, and as humid as the swamp gets. Probably. And later it will get hot, and some parts of Houston will get rained on. Like yesterday. I’m glad it’s boring, and not hurricanes lined up, but it does make this opening segment kinda lame.

Like yesterday. Kinda lame. I did move some stuff around and do some more sorting and cleaning. I also feel like I’m getting the beginning of a scratchy throat, so I’m not ready to push hard. It’s so humid that even though it’s low 90sF, it’s draining to do any physical work. And it has been pretty much the same for months. That is a bit unusual and it’s certainly tedious.

Let’s see if I can go a paragraph without using ‘it’s’… or an ellipsis. FAIL! It’s so hard..

Kidding! I kid. Apparently the kids think the ellipsis is a boomer thing. So is capitalization and spelling, as far as I can tell, or at least it’s not their thing.

This interweb thing is changing us. Like MTV and the quick edit/jump cut, short form content is altering our brains. The “internet arguing style” is showing up in real life too. It’s not an improvement.

Today I hope to do more of the same– cleaning and organizing and moving stuff around. Also, I’ll do a couple of pickups. If I get all that out of the way, I might have time tomorrow for some noisy fun.

Staying current with all the tools is an important prep. So is stacking- both the tools and the time using them. Get some noisy fun time in before the month is over.

    Up with the chickens.

Hours before, in fact. I was woken before 0400, probably by yelling or thumping from Grandma or the aide.

I opened the coop at 0610. The eastern horizon was just barely lightening but at least a couple of the chickens were already awake. 100% cloud cover and light rain, which is the forecast for most of the next several days except that the light rain is expected to be heavy for most of them.

When I closed the coop last night, as usual several of the birds were on the roof. About ⅔ of the coop is covered by the tarp atop the run. The peak of the coop’s roof is right about at the edge of the tarp, meaning that the three birds’ butts were all soaking wet. They had a nice, safe, warm, dry, recently cleaned coop but chose to sit on the roof and be rained on. At least three of my chickens are literally too dumb to come in out of the rain. As usual, I clipped the low-powered light to the edge of the roof to shine some light into the coop, lifted the three dumbheads in, and gave them a minute to climb on the roosting rail or otherwise get themselves settled.

Years ago, I claimed that streaming economics were broken, and price increases were inevitable. But I never anticipated the rapacious response of the suits in the C-suite.

The short explanation is that they do it because they can. Sure, some people cancel their subscriptions, but not enough to make a difference. Most subscribers simply put up with it.

“US distillate inventories are projected to be lower in 2025 and 2026 due to a significant draw in 2025, driven by refinery closures, reduced biofuel production, and increased exports, raising concerns over supply stability and price volatility.”

The USA is not ready for WW III either.  We are in the middle of shutting down very old refineries (10 in the last five years) and concentrating distillate fuel (gasoline, diesel, kerosene, jet fuel, etc) production in a very few locations.  The Houston Ship Channel and the Louisiana Gulf Coast will be high priority targets in WW III.

And yes, Peak Oil is coming again as certain countries (Mexico, Venezuela, etc) cannot run their oil fields and their refineries productively.  And some of the worlds largest reservoirs are going dry (China, North Sea (England, Scotland, Norway, Denmark), etc).  Today’s oil fields require a lot of high technology (directional drilling, fracking, etc) that all come out the USA.  Running a refinery that is not a tea kettle takes incredible experience and expertise just to keep it from blowing up (step 1 is vaporize the crude oil), much less making fuels that are usable and not full of crap that clogs engines.

We are shipping 20+% of our distillate production out of the USA now to Mexico, Caribbean, Europe, Canada, Japan, etc. It may be 30% now, I am not sure. Oh, to be a captain of a gasoline tanker with three million gallons of gasoline on it. No smoking !

“Ivanpah Solar Power Facility — which at one time was the largest solar plant in the world — is set to be shut down after it lasted only a third of its expected life span and reportedly killed tens of thousands of birds.”

“The Ivanpah Solar Power Facility is located in San Bernardino County, California, and spans “approximately 3,471 acres of [Bureau of Land Management]-managed public land and incorporates three 459-foot tall power towers and 173,500 heliostat mirrors,” according to the U.S. Department of the Interior.”

At least this crazy idea had some basis in science and engineering.  But even the addition of natural gas burners to preheat the steam generators and continue the steam generation after the sun went down could not make the plant work economically.  The Laws of Thermodynamics are not very forgiving.

“Company’s attorneys threaten job-listing website for publicizing its job listings”

“Most Americans assume that when a company posts a job opening, it actually wants someone to apply. That’s how the labor market is supposed to work.”

“But in the world of immigration sponsorship, job postings sometimes serve a very different purpose: checking a box for the government, while keeping American workers in the dark.”

“Under the Department of Labor’s PERM process (Program Electronic Review Management), employers seeking to sponsor foreign workers for green cards must first prove they tried to hire Americans. The law requires them to place ads, review resumes and certify that no qualified U.S. worker was available before moving forward with sponsorship.”

“Yet most Americans have never seen these ads – because employers often place them where no one is likely to look. They thus satisfy the letter of the law while ensuring the jobs are already earmarked for someone else. That’s where Jobs. Now, a U.S. worker advocacy group, stepped in. By republishing these hidden ads online, Jobs. Now gave them the visibility the law intended, visibility that many employers have quietly worked to avoid.”

    Sounds illegal to me.

Now that Comey is indicted, what will happen? Comey will probably get no punishment and get a new book “How I was Indicted By Hitler” funded by Soros.

  31. SteveF says:

The bribe royalties for Comey’s book will be paid by mid-tier authors getting smaller advances and lower royalty rates. Census Bureau Releases Estimates of Undercount and Overcount in the 2010 Census

The U.S. Census Bureau released today results from its post-enumeration survey, providing a measure of the accuracy of the 2010 Census. The results found that the 2010 Census had a net overcount of 0.01 percent, meaning about 36,000 people were overcounted in the census. This sample-based result, however, was not statistically different from zero.</blockquote

    >

    https://www.census.gov/newsroom/releases/archives/2010_census/cb12-95.html

    Delaware’s 2020 population was about 990,000.

A +5.45% overcount is about 54,000 people, or 150% more than the entire net overcount for the 2010 Census.

2010 was done with paper when the electronics were not delivered on time.

2020 was done with software running on iPhone 8’s.

Is it a coincidence that Blue State’s dominate the overcount list?

Is it a coincidence that two of the largest overcounted states don’t want the feds snooping in their voter registrations?

Is it a coincidence that the change to electronic census taking coincided with the largest, and TOTALLY UNPRECEDENTED overcounts in the history of the modern U.S. Census.

I know there have been bigger fish to fry, but I cannot emphasize enough that something smells to high heaven and it needs a full congressional investigation with full authority to crack the 70-year non-release of census records and find out WTAF went on.

Final question: If collecting 2020 Census data electonically had such a high error rate, how good are the accuracy claims of electronic voting? (And are any of the actors involved in both?)
