Cool again, and very nice Fall weather. Sunny, not crazy hot, still damp though. More of the same please…
Did my volunteer morning yesterday. We had everything together and working at the end of last year, but the district technologist installed some nice upgrades over the summer. He failed to reconnect a bunch of stuff that we’d done, so I spent most of my time getting that sorted. I’ll do more today.
Spent the afternoon trying out a couple of noisemakers in good company. I have to be reminded sometimes to get out of the house and make time for other things. I used to do that with my Wednesday ham radio lunch, but haven’t joined the other guys in a long time. Most of them probably don’t even remember me it’s been so long, and I was only a part of it for a fairly short time.
Today I’ll be back at school working on sound gear, and in the afternoon I have to do a time constrained pickup, or at least get an appointment made, and do some work for my client. I’ll be able to bill him after this round of stuff and that will be nice. I might even have time in the evening to do some more work on the cart or decor.
Or the universe might smack me around some. Still, my mojo seems to be working, as the exact sealant I ordered for the plastic panel repair on the golf cart showed up in an auction this week. I missed out on the rear seat kit that showed up last week, but things I need are coming my way. Or I’m picking them out of the endless stream…
Whatever the mechanism, it seems to be working again after a brief hiatus. It certainly helps with all the projects I’ve got going on, and with the stacking.
Oh yeah, threw away another 75 damaged cans from the long term food store. My storage conditions are teh sux. The ‘breakage’ is the tax I pay to have the stuff available if I need it. I’m glad I didn’t need it. I’ll replace it over the next month or two.
Stacking! Yea!

Tuesday. Good morning!
The forecast was for nice weather (calm, cool, dry), so I went out in the woods at 0 dark thirty.
The forecast turned out to be incorrect. It was foggy/wet, and blowing rather hard. I had to change my plan to find a spot with some shelter, as experience shows that game avoids exposed places when it’s windy (so would you…). Didn’t see anything, but it was nice to be out and about. Invigourating, even. Breakfast tastes that much nicer after an early outing.
Have a good day!
About the Iwo Jima statue alleged vandal, I think he would probably have a greater life expectancy behind bars than released on bond.
Not that I would approve of armed vigilantism.
Perhaps the funnest aspect of turning money into noise, that! Enjoy.
Nobody likes going to games at the Toxie Dome so the attendance and payroll have always been among the lowest in baseball.
Up extra early this am. Cool 49F outside with clear skies and a full moon makes it bight outside for 4am. Seem extra quiet this am. No dogs barkin’ and really can’t even hear the highway. Rain due by end of week otherwise blue skies and warm days.
Iwo Jima?
Sadly, nobody cares. The youngest WWII vets are 100 years old.
Local Faux News likes to use the Honor Flights in propaganda pieces over budget standoffs, always taking the side of the Dems.
The story is either “Mean Republicans Close WWII Memorial” or “Heroic Dems Reach Compromise To Keep WWII Memorial Open”.
Might be because my dad married late, but some of us have memories of our Grandfathers, or uncles who were WWII vets. And we’ve been ‘mediated’ to revere that generation and the historic battles they fought.
We remember and hold the memory dear.

Kinda late to the party Elon.
Elon Musk Claims Ukraine Is a Money Laundering Scheme for US Politicians
But better late than never.

So many people discover reality later in life. I don’t get it, especially in engineers, who are supposed to be able to observe systems and understand cause and effect. I have hopes that Elon is smart enough to change, and stay changed. Trump did, when he realized you can be a go-along-to-get-along Democrat, or you can love America, choose one.
ESR is the latest libtard-to-normie convert. It’s been interesting watching his progress.
But I don’t trust converts. They can be allies, and then turn around and damage you harder. Me-again Kelly, MTG, Masshole, Tucker Carlson, Joe Rogan, Megan McArdle, etc.
The uncle that I lived with was a WWII veteran. He was wounded in Germany in a tank that got hit and rolled down a hill. My other uncle was also in WWII but never talked about what he did during the war. That uncle almost got into trouble when he signed up for the draft. He was conceived while his parents weren’t married. The parents hid the result and celebrated his birthday six months past the actual date. When he signed up for the draft, got his birth certificate, found out he was born six months earlier than he was informed, the draft board was not amused.
The other side of the coin is my father who dodged getting drafted for Korea by having kids. I was 11 months from my brother and was used as a draft dodging excuse. I was not really wanted once the Korean conflict was over and was pawned off to the abusive aunt and uncle.
CNN is reporting that Texas may be swinging to a blue state by stating early voting is leaning towards the democrats. That will not be good if it is true. But CNN, being CNN, where truth and facts just get in the way of the agenda, who knows?
Ray, EVERYTHING CNN reports are lies. Nothing can be believed.
RIP Susan Saint James. #xx.
Talarico sits at the top of the ballot in Texas, and the Dem base is fired up.
Senate, House, and Governor will be party line votes. The other races’ outcomes will depend on ballot construction in the county and how long the voter can sit still without the dopamine hit of their devices.
My county has the House seat — Pete Sessions? Really? — below Senate followed by all of the statewide races through Comptroller In one neat column, ready for the straight line voter on either side.
That is #1.
Yeah, CNN are a bunch of Dumbo spin doctors.
People magazine did a good job with Susan Saint James obit:

“Love at First Byte” isn’t seen much anymore. George Hamilton currently owns the rights to the film.
Re Elections. Turned off the phone ringer, up to a half dozen campaign ads a day. Messages are also getting hit hard.
California has a wealth tax on the ballot: amusingly the usually hardline left democrat unions have come out against it, apparently they realize that the grab won’t stop with the billionaires but will eventually come for their own bloated pension plans.
“Oft evil will shall evil mar”.
Stayed late at my volunteering to keep making progress. I think I have 22 of the 24 mics ready to work now. The district mics were set up all over the place… so I ended up zeroing everything and starting from scratch with all the mics. Should be able to start working on actually running a show with the kids soon.

76F and overcast with the occasional raindrop. Not where I thought the day would end up.

There are a couple of pickups I should do today, so I think I’ll head back out.

This day is just getting away from me … 3pm already and almost nothing accomplished.

Her father (or fake father–I can’t find my Lying Somali Scumbag spreadsheet just now) is dead. But Ilhan was allegedly the youngest of seven siblings. If she was 18, then every one of the other six was of legal age. The press had been studiously incurious about her other siblings over the years–not much is known about alleged brother Elmi (who may not be one of the seven) and sister Sahra Noor , and we don’t even have reliable names for the other four. One of the key troves of evidence in the current investigation is reported to be Sahra Noor’s cell phone, leading to the suspicion that there was something in the texts that provided evidence of fraud.
If that is indeed the case, then Sahra Noor* will be under enormous pressure to cut a deal and spill what she knows. If she hasn’t already. The four siblings not publicly identified are most certainly known to the U.S. government that admitted them, and along with Sahra, all could be at risk of being charged with immigration fraud and deported (if they are in the U.S.).
But another facet to this puzzle is if the older siblings immigrated to the U.S. as adults, why was Ilhan’s age dialed back so she could be admitted under her father’s paperwork? The most credible explanation is that she is not a sibling of the others.
There may be a popcorn shortage ahead.
*A 2019 report from Star Tribune stated that Noor now runs her own health care consultancy in Kenya. Prior to this, up to 2018, she was a high-level executive at People’s Center Clinics & Services, the Twin Cities healthcare non-profit.

“Valor’s Duty (Children of Valor #3)” by Kal Spriggs

Book number three of a ten book young adult science fiction series. There is also a two book sequel series and a seven book sequel series, nineteen books in all. I read the well printed and well bound POD (print on demand) trade paperback self published by the author in 2018 that I bought on Amazon in 2026. I now own books #4, #5, and #6 in the series and plan to buy the #7 to #10 soon.
Jiden Armstrong is the older child of two archaeologists on the dry, dusty planet named Century. Jiden is fourteen planet years old which is equivalent to sixteen Earth years and was forced by her parents after her misbehavior to attend and graduate from the five month military prep school that her grandmother runs for the planetary military. She then interned at a logistics and supply company which blew up in her face when she notified the planetary authorities that people in the company were selling stored military spare parts off planet. Now she is attending the Century Military Academy as a third year cadet. And the academy is making it mandatory to have implants installed in your brain.
This is a great story about making mistakes and overcoming difficult situations to make something of yourself. Somebody online recommended this book to me and I really enjoyed the book. If you are a fan of Heinlein juveniles then you will probably love this book also.

I am not sure that I was bothered by any of these problems. In truth, I am bothered by the fact that Windows 11 is not as easy to use as Windows 10.
Even though it’s 70F and a nice night, I’m skipping the time outside and going to bed. I’m beat and tomorrow will involve a lot of driving after my volunteer hours.
I need some extra sleep.
