Tues. Oct. 14, 2025 – I wouldn’t mind an open source version of Shotspotter ™

Cool. Then warming. Still no rain. Well, not for me. I’m pretty sure some of those dark clouds that were roaming around rained on someone. It did stay relatively cooler all day though. I could actually do a little bit in the attic without overheating.

I was up at a reasonable time, and made breakfast for D2 before her friends came over. They spent a few hours watching Hamilton and singing along. I read while that was going on. Afterwards, I got busy with my pantry project.

I cleaned up the cutout drywall, insulated, and hung new drywall to close up the wall and ceiling. Of course it wasn’t as simple as that, and it took a quick trip to Lowe’s for spray foam. I picked up some screws and a fresh bucket of drywall compound while I was there.

I had the insulation stored in the attic, some from the bathroom project, and some stored there waiting for me to rip and replace the nasty 50 year old blown in insulation. That isn’t a job I’m looking forward to, and I’d just pay someone to do it if I didn’t have all the stuff stored up there in the way.

After I vacuumed up the drywall dust and assorted old insulation, I changed out the A/C filters. I’ll change them again after I’m done with all the mud and sanding too, but that is for another day.

While in the attic, I moved some stuff around, found more ebay ‘inventory’, and tossed out some rat poison baits.

I really hate doing anything with fiberglas insulation. REALLY hate it. When I do the attic, I’ll fully gear up in protective measures, but yesterday I just wore gloves and was very careful about what I touched.

Today I’ll do the first layer of mud and tape on the drywall, and do at least two pickups. I won a couple of things for next summer at the BOL, and some more supplies for projects there. Some small random things too, since I was making the trip.

Sometimes I just pick up things that might be useful later. They almost always turn out to be something I need in the future. I’m pretty sure I’ll need the foam version of a toilet wax ring, for example. Other stuff ends up coming in handy. IF I can find it and remember I have it…

Stacks are good. Skills are good. Friends are better.

Lot of weird deaths and accidents this last few days in the news.   Not saying there’s anything sinister involved, but stuff does seem to ‘clump’.

The Western Way development on the edge of the Disney property is a smorgasboard for the Pedos who live in that part of Polk County.

Contrary to popular belief, Disney does not have a lot of buildable land left in Florida, and the last two parcels suitable in size and zoned for parks are on the road between Western Way and The Coronado Springs resort.

If you are a parent and you take your child to participate in a sports event at the Disney property, staying at either one of the Western Way hotels or Coronado Springs outbuildings, you are ringing the dinner bell for the predators IMHO.

For God’s sake, don’t take them to the pools … or Target.

Whoa: Who Letitia James Has Living in Alleged Mortgage Fraud House Just Made Her Situation Much Worse

With New York Attorney General Letitia James facing federal mortgage fraud charges, a new revelation has added another layer to the story.

As RedState reported, James, who bragged about weaponizing the justice system against now-President Donald Trump, is accused of lying about a house she bought in Virginia in order to secure a lower interest rate. When she filled out the forms, she attested to it being a second residence, which carries with it owner occupancy requirements and stipulations on how many years must pass before it can be rented. Instead, she immediately rented it out, a move that would have changed the terms of the loan, leading to a higher interest rate, had she not allegedly falsified the application.

So who is living in it? If you only read The New York Times, you’d think it’s just a “grandniece who needed tranquillity,” but according to a new report, that grandniece is actually a fugitive from justice, wanted in the State of North Carolina on some rather serious charges.

[grand larceny, possession of burglary tools, etc.]

Is the attorney general of New York, who is currently facing federal criminal charges, harboring a fugitive in the house she allegedly obtained through mortgage fraud? Because it sure seems like that’s what’s happening here, and the fact that this is a family member and not some random person makes it so much worse.

“Wildfire: A Hidden Legacy Novel (Hidden Legacy, 3)” by Ilona Andrews
       https://www.amazon.com/Wildfire-Hidden-Legacy-Ilona-Andrews/dp/0062289276?tag=ttgnet-20/

Book number three of a six book and one novella paranormal romance fantasy series. I reread the well printed and well bound MMPB published by Avon in 2017 that I bought new from Amazon. I have the other three books and the novella in the series and will reread those soon.

Totally cool series for me. This makes the fourth series that I have read from Ilona Andrews, a husband and wife writing team based here in Texas. The Innkeeper, Kate Daniels, and The Edge are the other series of books. They are now starting a couple of new series of books.

The Hidden Legacy Universe is a complex place. The Osiris serum that induced magical powers in humans was released to the general public in 1863 and the world was never the same. The serum was banned after a while but the world was irreparably changed. Families starting breeding children for strength in magical powers with breathtaking results. Magic users are segregated into five ranks: Minor, Average, Notable, Significant, and Prime. The Prime families operate mostly outside the law since they are so powerful and incredibly dangerous.

Nevada Baylor runs a very small detective agency in Houston, Texas ( ! ) that usually works on scammers and divorce cases. She is a 25 year old hidden Prime Truthseeker, she can unerringly tell lies from truths and can force people to emit truths. In fact, she can burn a persons brain if she wants to. Her mother and father started the detective agency but there is a huge mortgage to a Prime Family that funded the effort to try to save her father from cancer. The effort failed and left them with a huge mortgage when Nevada was 17.

Connor “Mad” Rogan is a Prime Telekinetic and a noted combat veteran, famous and feared for leveling a village in the Mexican-Belize war using only his powers. He is a billionaire with a private army and wants Nevada Baylor very badly. So badly that he bought all of the property around the Baylor household in a one mile radius so he can protect Nevada and her family.

Nevada and Connor’s first meeting was when he kidnapped her and chained her to the floor in his house basement. Things have gotten better since then. Mostly. Now that Nevada is filing to create her own house, she is being listed as a Prime too. So is her middle sister Catalina, a siren. And her youngest sister is a literal monster with an well known reputation. But, several people want to stop the creation of the House of Baylor, including her very estranged grandmother that Nevada has never met.

    From Newsweek,

JB Pritzker looking at prosecuting ICE agents in Chicago.

Prosecute? For what crime(s) is the Illinois governor seeking prosecution?

Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker on Sunday suggested that state prosecutors might examine the conduct of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents.

“The tables will turn one day,” Prtizker told FOX 32 Chicago. ”These people should recognize that maybe they’re not gonna get prosecuted today, although we’re looking at doing that, but they may get prosecuted after the Trump administration because the statute of limitations would not have run out.”

So, the crime consists of being a federal agent during the time Trump was President. Pritzker’s legal theory sound insurrectiony to me. What’s the statute of limitations on formerly working for a Republican chief executive? I’m asking for myself.

“IEA data shows that global oil demand actually expanded by 750,000 b/d year-on-year (y-o-y) in third-quarter 2025, led by a rebound in petrochemical feedstock use following the tariff-induced slowdown in second-quarter 2025. However, the agency expects oil consumption to stay subdued through the rest of 2025 and in 2026.”

Crap.  The oil glut is going to get worse.

This is only temporary. Most of the major crude oil reservoirs outside the USA are in serious decline. Of course, the 25 million barrels per day equivalent of crude oil and LNG that we are shipping from the USA are severely masking that.

Washington State How police, FBI traced alleged school shooting threat to a Kennewick home

    – some interesting details about tracking the kid down.

FBI agents on the East Coast had received information from a person living in Florida, who has not been publicly identified, about a map of the interior of an unnamed school that was posted to TikTok as a 5-second video. The FBI was able to match the layout and room numbers to Kamiakin High

the FBI has floor plans for every school in the US????

    Know to police.

Using law enforcement databases, the phone numbers were matched with names. The internet provider then was able to match one of those names associated with a xyTel customer living in the Badger Canyon area of Kennewick. The address was home to Mason Bently-Ray Ashby, 14, according to court documents. He was familiar to the Benton County Sheriff’s Office after the FBI had contacted deputies in July about online threats it said Ashby had made. Ashby had begun threatening his online girlfriend with photos of a loaded handgun and making statement about being “backed into a corner” and “forced with one choice,” according to information from an FBI report included in court documents..

    Win for the surveillance state.

Over 30 missing children are miraculously rescued in trafficking sting in San Antonio

    By JACK TOLEDO

    Published: 17:07 EDT, 14 October 2025 | Updated: 17:30 EDT, 14 October 2025

Over 30 children were saved from child traffickers in San Antonio after authorities set up stings across the state to bust multiple repulsive operations.

Operation Lighting Bug was a multi-agency initiative that targeted crimes against vulnerable youth and located missing children in San Antonio, Texas, from July 28 through August 15.

It was a combined effort that resulted in several arrests, the recovery of sex trafficking survivors, and encouraged 120 additional missing juveniles to return home, resulting in cleared entries from state and national databases, according to a statement by the US Marshals.
