I did my pickups, mostly. Chatted with on of the auctioneers I’ve known for a while. He confirmed that the big place in the Woodlands has thrown in the towel. They couldn’t get loads at the price they needed to be profitable. Their costs were high too, being in The Woodlands. The other stopped doing retail auctions and will be selling whole pallets, probably until they run out of stock, but maybe he’ll make that work. He was the last place getting really good loads.
Then I got gas at Costco. We’ll see how my mileage looks on this tank. The last HEB tank I only got 14 mpg. I usually get closer to 18. I suspect too much alcohol in the fuel. Also picked up flowers and cake for my wife, and some crab claws. They’ll make a nice treat.
Today I’ll work on stuff. Dunno which stuff, but I’m sure there will be plenty.

As I’m sitting here, outside temp is upper 40s. Yesterday’s high might have hit 75. Sitting out with the chickens was a bit warm when I was in the sun, comfortable in the shade. And I’m giving some thought to taking the blanket off the shelf; last night I was quite chilly. (What? Close the windows at night? No!)
Yah. Wife and I haven’t put in the 2025 taxes yet. She had some reason for the delay and said she’d handle it. Hasn’t given me her 2025 income numbers so I can’t do it. I’ll file separately in a couple weeks if she doesn’t get to it, and let her be in default. Very annoying.

There is a practical limit for bandwidth, particularly below 1 GHz, where Starlink’s MVNO agreements will provision part or all of the service for users in densely populated areas.
I’ve always believed Starlink to be a stalking horse for the last of the terrestrial broadcast TV and radio spectrum in the US and Europe, whether sold off by Congress or piecemeal purchase/shutdown of stations similar to what happened to my undergrad alma matter’s PBS channel about 10 years ago.

I actually got our 2025 biz and personal taxes to the CPA to file/pay before April. That’s the first time in a decade. We usually do the October extension.
Still farting (see what I did) around with the new iPhone. In the transfer process not everything transfers. Several Bluetooth connections needed to reestablished. The digital ID had to be redone. Some logins such as Sirius/XM had to be redone. Trivial, but annoying.
Before getting the device I had to do several steps. Helpful for Mr. Atoz when he gets his DUO.
Unpair my Apple Watch.
Turn off Stolen Device Protection.
Turn off FindMy.
Go to Verizon and turn off SIM protection.
Delete the phone from my F-150.
Once the transfer of the information and the eSIM was done I then had to reset the old iPhone back to the Out-of-the-box condition. I then had to verify the phone worked with Verizon. The first call failed, the second call worked. No issues since. Verizon now knows about the phone in their accounts.
Then pair with my F-150.
Pair my hearing aids.
Sign into some accounts.
Overall not a difficult process, just tedious.

The power bill at my house hit another new record dollar amount last month, but the energy used was not much more than during the same period last year.
Its all about the jerbs, son. Jerbs come first.
My electric bill last month was up from same month last year. 804 kWh vs 587 kWh last year. Even with the floor newly insulated a few months ago and mostly closing the curtains. T-stat set at 80f.
It was just freaking hot. Lots of days hit 105f and a few 110f days with morning lows of 77f.
I’m fine with a $114 bill. I remember having almost $300 bills at this time of the year. I can’t control the rates, only kWh used.
I think I have the house “tuned” enough that a timer for the water heater or more insulation in the attic will not beak even in a decent time period. I’m not yet sure about the floor…. it’s still a novelty that it feels cool on a hot summer day.

This series is real pulp like old science fiction with lots of action and dialogue. I love it !

Very tiny little fire tonight, as time was short following a big dinner, a round of Catan, and then pool and darts. The kids stuck it out until midnight.
W and I went down to the dock and there were some stars out. Some haze around the edges, but straight up was sorta clear and the sky was nice and dark.
Now it is time for a shower and bed.
