Thur. June 25, 2026 – had the date wrong, joke’s on me

By on June 25th, 2026 in culture, decline and fall, march to war

What’s not a secret is that Houston in Summer is HOT. H-O-T hot. Well, not as hot as some years but still hot. 100F and 80+ % RH is hot. And that’s what we’ve had, and are gonna have. Sunny too.

Spent yesterday doing pickups, mostly, but some household stuff too. Got back early enough to make dinner for the wife.

Today I’ve got a couple more pickups, and they are dispersed. Not disbursed, like I typed the first time. Although I guess technically someone might be disbursing my goods to me…

I need to decide if I’m headed to the BOL this weekend or if I’m just headed up before the rest of the family for the 4th. A couple of days won’t matter but a week will. So much to do though, and never enough time to do it.

‘Course that’s true at the BOL as well as here.

Easier to just say “STACK”.

But then you all know that.

We’re having a relative heat wave this morning. For the first time this week, the outdoor temperature was not in the 50s when I opened up the chicken coop.

Definitely a wimp. Two hours working in the sun at a measly 25C, and I quit. Granted, the sun is intense here, and granted, I have no reason to hurry, but still… Wimps’R’Us.

Anyway, I got 3-4 meters of foundation for the stone wall dug out, the dirt sieved, and the rocks put back into the trench as a foundation. The soil here is incredibly rocky. By volume, somewhere around a third of the soil I dug out is rocks. Epochs of erosion in the mountains…

We are way behind on rainfall. The Spring showers usually come in April, but this year April was dry. It’s also hot, for us anyway. Of course, the news is all full of how record-breaking it is. Then you read an article on X, where someone went back to actual weather data, and – oh – 2018 was similar, 2003 was a lot hotter, and… Bottom line: it doesn’t happen often, but it’s really not unusual, either.

  3. SteveF says:

We can use the brains of the unwanted AS the server farm!

I am loathe to tell you that that is a dumb idea, but that is a dumb idea. What possible use can be found for the brain of a Democrat, a commie, a paedo, or an inbred invader? (Some category overlap may be observed.) Use them as intelligences to replace artificial intelligence? Nonsense! You might try to use them in training AIs, as a “don’t be like that” exemplar, but I have my doubts. Anyone who’s raised teens is aware of how little a bad example does to deter a developing mind from stupid behavior.

“JD Vance is getting a lot of heat right now because he’s become the face of the administration in trying to deal with the Iranian mullahs, as thankless a job as one could ever imagine. The Iranian mullahs are degenerate freaks who want to annihilate every Jew, then every Christian, from the face of the Earth, so you can see the problem he faces in trying to negotiate with them and in discussing the results of those negotiations.

As long as the capability exists to take them out one by one, the mullahs will comply.

Vance probably has a manilla folder full of pictures taken from the cameras on the laser aiming systems on the aircraft.

“Here’s you in your breakfast nook early one morning, enjoying your ”Nut n Honeys’.”

Here in North AL, we have had more rain than usual. Supposedly high pressure will settle in over the weekend and then we will get back to a normal south summer. 90+ temps and 80%+ humidity. Yay.

I will say I welcome the slow down in rainfall. I’ve been mowing twice a week. That is unacceptable!

“Justic Samuel Alito wrote for the majority in the case of Wolford v. Lopez.”

“The ruling applies to private property open to the public, such as stores, restaurants, and gas stations, as well as other locations covered by public accommodation laws.”

“Plaintiffs argued that carrying a firearm is an “implied right” unless the property owner opposes it. They said Hawaii’s law flips that presumption and requires the property owner’s consent prior to accessing the property with a handgun.”

This is big, very big.  It is a small step to State to State reciprocity from here.

  22. lpdbw says:

I am not sure but I think that this shoots down the 30.06 law in Texas and the federal law forbidding guns in Post Offices.

Unfortunately, no.  And probably a good thing, too.

30.06 is a property right.  Owners of property have a legislated protection (however stupid it is) to prohibit concealed weapons under all 3 protections of the Texas gun laws.  As a store owner, I can say “You can’t carry concealed with a permit, you can’t carry concealed with Constitutional Carry, and you can’t carry open.”  That is my right to assert.

What they ruled is that property owners have to affirmatively assert that right, and the default protection to gun owners is “on”, rather than “off”.  In public spaces.  Hawaii legislated the default to “off”.

The stupid part is that criminals don’t care.  Responsible, sane, sober, moral, prudent people like me are no threat, and we’re the only ones who honor the stupid signs.

I’d love to see efforts to enforce liability on property owners who disarm their customers.  You disarmed me; you have a responsibility to protect me.  Some trans Democrat comes in and shoots the place up, that’s on you.  You removed my right to self defense.

About the Post Offices, and all federal properties, I’d love to see that overturned.  Military bases, courthouses, police stations, maybe some limits.  Some.  Jails, for sure.  Mass transit?  It should be criminal to stop us from carrying.   There’s Democrats out there, and they want to kill you!

Trump’s USPS Drops the Hammer — Blue States Hiding Voter Data Will Get Zero Mail-In Ballots

    Barrett agrees with you.  From

        https://www.scotusblog.com/2026/06/supreme-court-strikes-hawaii-gun-restriction/

“Justice Amy Coney Barrett wrote a concurring opinion, joined in part by Justices Clarence Thomas and Neil Gorsuch, in which she pushed back against Jackson’s insistence that property law, rather than the Second Amendment, is at the core of the dispute. She contended that Jackson’s argument “misunderstands the role of historical evidence in a Second Amendment challenge.” For purposes of determining whether the Second Amendment is implicated at all, Barrett wrote, it does not matter “that a property owner has the right to exclude anyone who wishes to enter her property with firearms. No one doubts that all property owners in Hawaii could bar the carry of arms on their respective premises, if they wanted to.” But, Barrett continued, “the Second Amendment does not apply to private parties. It does apply to the States. And when a State enacts a property law that regulates arms-bearing conduct, that law implicates the Second Amendment.””

       https://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2026/06/dealing-with-islamic-extremism-how-the-soviets-did-it/

“Obviously, the U.S. would never adopt the Soviet approach. However, what the Soviet’s response reveals is that in any negotiations with Iran, there can be no quarter.”

“At a time U.S. negotiators should have been playing hardball with the mullahs, they played softball. When we needed a team of “Rambos” to negotiate, we were given a team of “Pee Wee Hermans.” The absence of toughness by the U.S. was taken by the mullahs as a major weakness to be exploited.”

“If we turn our clocks back four decades, we can see that one non-Muslim country—the former Soviet Union—proved successful in showing the world how to negotiate with Muslim terrorists of the mullahs’ ilk.”

“On September 30, 1986, four Soviet diplomats were kidnapped by unknown terrorists in West Beirut, Lebanon. The terrorist group responsible did not immediately acknowledge responsibility, leaving Moscow to speculate as to the motivation for the kidnapping. But the Soviets realized time was not on their side and the longer they remained indecisive, the more likely their diplomats would not survive. Additionally, they knew the importance of coming up with a plan of action that would discourage future actions against their diplomats.”

“Accordingly, they identified a key Muslim fundamentalist leader in Beirut (there was a long list from which to choose) and moved quickly to locate his family. Abducting a male member of that family, they had him castrated, immediately sending the severed testicles to the terrorist leader. While the leader did not know whether his victimized relative had been shot in the head and killed before or after the castration, the message was clear—more mutilations would follow unless the Soviet diplomats were released.”

“Three of the diplomats were quickly released alive and unharmed; the body of the fourth—who had been killed two days after the kidnapping—was released as well. Responsibility for the kidnapping was later attributed to the Islamic Liberation Organization, which had been hoping to pressure Moscow to force Syria to end an offensive operation it had undertaken against Muslim fundamentalists in Tripoli. But the group—as well as other Muslim extremists who might have been thinking about kidnapping Soviet diplomats—was taught a lesson in brutality never to be forgotten.”

There are several lessons here. The Soviets/Russians are certainly capable of initiating brutality, but in this case it was a response to an act that of brutality that clearly showed that the Islamics rejected the rules of civilization. The response was not merely in kind, it was a refusal to be subjected to asymmetrical warfare while continuing to play by civilized rules.

The trap in the Geneva Conventions for civilized nations is a commitment to continue being civilized when the opponents are not. We got suckered in agreeing to such b.s., and it was the Soviets and the other commies that did the suckering. That clause should have been rejected and a couple others should have been heavily modified–we’ve been paying the price ever since.

the federal law forbidding guns in Post Offices.

    – remember that this was a bad law, (fairly) recently enacted, in response to a POSTAL EMPLOYEE shooting people.    There is no reason to honor any precedent set by this POS law.   It banned carry by people who DIDN’T DO the shooting, because they could.   And extending it to the parking lot is extra bad as it effectively bans carry during your entire trip to and from the PO.

ALL gun laws that restrict ownership or use are un-Constitutional.  ALL OF THEM.    The founders were perfectly capable of writing in exceptions and conditions where they wanted them, and they didn’t.

yes, that means felons can have guns.  Yes, crazy and divorcing people too.    Even wife beaters.   you have to accept the negatives with the positives because the 2A is absolute.   And there has to be swift justice available too, almost any crime of any real seriousness was a capital offense at the time.

Also applies to ALL federal property outside of federal parks, which have their own queer regulations.  For instance, technically, if I want to go to Bear Creek Park in West Harris County, I can’t bring a handgun along.  Not even locked in a safe in my truck.  Not even if I stay outside the whole time and don’t go into any facilities.  All because it’s a Corps of Engineers Reservoir.
