Still got some way to go with the weather though. Hot and humid again yesterday, although the cloud cover kept the high down a bit. Only mid 90sF. Supposedly we’re gonna get some weather today, possibly a tropical storm or even a small hurricane. Nothing to get as worked up about as the people seem to be though. Our ISD sent several emails about “monitoring the situation” and even my auctions sent emails about possible alternative pickup days if the weather is unsafe to move around in. Seems like massive overreaction to me.
I didn’t get to my client yesterday so that is my main focus today. I spent the day doing office stuff, with a little scrapping and grocery shopping at the end of the day.
Today, I’ll be driving around, and maybe even making a pickup or two if my site visit doesn’t take all day.
Earning money is a prep…
And I’m a prepper.

Tuesday. Good morning!
Today is Monday for me – first day back to work after the summer holidays. Joy, but it pays the mortgages.
I think and hope that Mr Musk read A Step Further Out. I probably won’t live to see it, but I hope humanity’s move into the cosmos will be glorious.
I hear you. Somehow, we are having a very expensive year, so the extra income from working after retirement is very welcome. But I am feeling very much “oversubscribed” at the moment.
In other news, we had a mass shooting event at a rave over the weekend. Some nutcase shooting into the crowd with a Kalashnikov. They have arrested the perp, but they are not releasing any personal info. Normally, the police will at least say “native Swiss” or “immigrant from XYZ”.
The obvious suspicion is “Allahu Akbar”. The very fact that they refuse to say what background he has is likely all the confirmation we need…
I believe most of the folk medicine remedies that originate with my wife’s Chinese relations are made up by the batsh*t crazy “Big Ayee” (loosely ‘Big Auntie’), the oldest sister of the 70/80 year old generation.
To a certain extent, this is about honoring the elders, enforced by the “Big Achoo” (‘Big Uncle’), “Boss” of the family’s rackets, in charge of keeping the checks flowing to the cousins, but Big Ayee also derives a lot of power from squatting in the family’s crown jewel real estate asset, a shotgun (I don’t know the Seattle term) house in West Seattle with the picture postcard view of Downtown.
Big Ayee’s offspring is also an unlicensed weed dealer in West Seattle, contributing to the rackets.
Teens. Youth. Aspiring rapper. Yeah, not fooling us, but I guess it’s harder to search the archives and compile stats.

Up and moving a bit. School cancelled after school activities, but not classes. They’re trying to ‘time’ the TS. Get the attendance money, but don’t get the busses caught in street flooding. Mind you, we’re more than 60 miles inland.

Still planning to go to my client’s house later.
Not super excited about a week of rain but we need it.

Direct election of Senators was Hearst Media social engineering designed to crush the power of The Deep South, along with Income Tax and Suffrage.
Florida never even looked at the amendment, along with Georgia, South Carolina, and Mississippi.
Louisiana and Alabama bent the knee after ratification.
Texas went for ratification early.
The German-language reporting I heard mentioned fired cartridge cases of two calibres retrieved; “pistol or machine pistol” and “Sturmgewehr”. The former probably indicates 9*19mm, but the latter left me wondering if some CH reservist used a SIG 550/551 (5.56*45 NATO).
If it was indeed 7.62*39mm Kalashnikov, that would not be the case.
Bills: Brad, I share your pain. The bills awaiting our return from holidays included a doozy for car tax, and the electric company upping their rates. Property taxes are due around now too. Then there will be the credit card purchases from our travels. I had better be working!
The Navy has traditionally belonged to the Senate since that body has to approve the appointments of civilian leadership and flag officers as well as the platform.
Another area where direct election of the Senate changed who held the levers of power, from the states to the concentrated political power in DC.
Pre 17th Amendment, by determining who sat in the Senate, the Navy ultimately belonged to the states, not the Federal Government, like the Army and Marines.
Hearst’s meddling overseas was much easier once the Navy was no longer under state supervision of long term strategic decisions like where to put bases or what kind of ships to build.
It is a big club, and you aren’t in it.
Hearst’s glory days are long in the past, but the corporation still wields a considerable amount of power, starting with 20% ownership of ESPN.
Checking quickly lest I incur the wrath of the sticklers, I see Virginia was among the states that never looked at the 17th Amendment.
The Navy state of that era.
There is little as amusing as the wrath of a lawyer against the legacy media, unless it is a retired army lawyer.
Kurt Schlichter tears the Washington Post a new one.
Nice post, Mr. Nick. I especially like the reference to “aliens” changing our timeline. I wear a “I want to believe” patch on my hoodie. Alas, our current knowledge of math and physics says we will never be visited by aliens (if they are out there). The distances and fuel requirements are just too great. Maybe a natural phenomenon of a worm hole or an actual warp drive yet to be discovered will change that. Also, of all the, now, quadrillion stars would another civilization come here? And the new space telescopes are indicating our count of the number of galaxies and size of the Universe is wrong.
I almost missed this one:
Judge Rules Trump Admin Cannot Deport Noncitizens for Supporting Terrorist Organizations
Another activist judge telling the Executive the judge runs the branch.
Really, some dickwad comes here on a visa, says down with America, and has free speech rights that protect them? F that. POTUS can deport any non-citizen for anything, period.
This will be overruled, but is another case of lawfare against tRump and only tRump.
In other news, the Devil showed up in Vegas as Hell froze over. Overnight temperature was 77ºF. The A/C actually turned off for more than 15 minute stretches.
Yah, nice isn’t it?
64F here, overnight, for hours.
The house here has been heak soaking at 105/75 for a month so it didn’t really cool down below 70F inside until the wee hours.
The Clancy jury is deadlocked as 3 men try to explain to 9 women why it’s wrong to kill your children.
Here’s a link to a very, very dark, almost disturbing George Alexopoulos cartoon on instagram. I saw it on X first but figured links to X are a problem here like they are in many forums.
Don’t click if you’re easily triggered. It introduced me to a new term, “strangle hands”, describing the hand gesture Clancy supporters use.
It was 60F on my patio when I stepped out at 5am. Highs for the week predicted in low to mid 80s, about 20 degrees below last week. Lows will be going down to mid to upper 50s. Cold for this time of year in central Cali.
yeah I do most of my proofreading after posting
At least the judge sent them back for more deliberations. She should get life as a minimum; death would be better. She tried to kill herself, so why not death? Don’t give me that postpartum and meds BS. She took the kids one by one to the basement and strangled them. She is evil. Unimaginable evil.
She needs some time in “pound it in the a**“ prison or a lot of disturbed women will get the wrong message.
That same scenario happened on a jury in which I was part. Kid burned a house with a man inside. The men, 6 of us, had to convince 6 women, that the kid was guilty. The women were all mushy about a bad childhood, misunderstood, give him chance, etc. The men were all “barbecue his arse”. The deliberations would been over in 37 seconds if not for the women. Instead, it took 8 hours, spanned over two days. Eventually the women were convinced, and we got a “state’s case true as presented” verdict, different than a guilty verdict as the kid was a juvenile.
Insurance is due this month. $4,800 for the year. Two vehicles, maximum coverage, house 125% of value, travel trailer, umbrella liability and personal effects. My outflow has exceeded my income for the last three months.
$1 million will generate $40k a year indefinitely invested carefully, but if the only other income is SS, that is tight in the Austin area.
Amateur.
I favor a not guilty verdict. Not even insanity defense, straight not guilty.
And then let the ripples spread. Women will not be allowed to get firearms licenses (where needed) because they’re just one hormonal surge from shooting into a crowd. Women will not be allowed to hold high-stress jobs such as surgeon, police officer, or EMT because they might have a hormonal fluctuation and make a terrible, life-ending decision. Child custody hearings will be strongly tilted in favor of the fathers.
A lot less tight if you own all your things. But yeah, inflation is only going to get worse and to keep up, investments are going to get riskier and riskier until it all crashes down. And then the $40K won’t mean spit.
n
Indeed. Some clown on Reddit said it was impossible for me to live on $4K a month. Yes, it is possible. But not with his $2,500 a month mortgage payment. Being debt free opens up a lot of possibilities.
When I got laid off in 1993 it took months to find a job. I was down to my last $450.00. I was getting desperate and really scared. A mortgage, two vehicle payments, credit card debt. The stress was real and significant. Once I got employed again I made a decision that I would become debt free as quickly as possible. I did without a lot of things for several years to make that goal.
On reading this, I realize that it could be taken in several ways.
My intent was, get back to me when outflow exceeds inflow in approximately sixteen of twenty consecutive months.
To be fair, several of the heavy outflow months have been money sent to the kids, which are nominally loans, though I’ll believe in repayment when I see it. (Many years hence. I told The Elder Child to pay off the mortgage and school loans first, then pay me back. The Child can look at repaying me for covering her schooling after she’s graduated and has a job.)
Even aside from that, expenses are usually higher than income. This is largely because income keeps getting impacted by “family issues” interfering with my ability to work. eg, I’ve been woken in the middle of the night every night for over a week, and many nights in the past month or so. I’m unable to focus on billable work. That’s on top of the many hours spent in dealing with my brother’s estate, taking care of the family house, and other ripples.
So if the woman is not guilty, what happens the next time some guy had a “hormonal surge” and kills his kids and the wife? No charges?
Precedent and equal protection under the law, my dude.
What about hormonal surges when every day the same kids won’t get off my lawn? Is it ok to cap them myself or do I have to call a parent?
Everwhere you look, hormonal surges:

“Canines and Cocktails, Book 4 of Oberon’s Meaty Mysteries” by Kevin Hearne, Delilah S Dawson, Chuck Wendig

A fourth book of three novellas added to the ten book Iron Druid fantasy series. There are several other novellas for the series also. I read the well printed and well bound POD (print on demand) trade paperback published by Horned Lark Press in 2024 that I bought in 2026. I own several of the other novellas and plan to read them soon.
The Iron Druid Series starts with “Hounded” released in 2011:

Atticus O’Sullivan is a 2,000+ year old Druid living peacefully in Arizona, USA in modern times. His Irish Wolfhound Oberon is also many decades old due to Atticus’s special teas. Atticus also has another dog, Starbuck, who is learning how to speak telepathically to Atticus and Oberon.
Atticus and the two dogs are in Tasmania via his special pathways for Atticus to heal several Tasmania Devils from a cancer that is spreading amongst them. And of course, somebody is murdered right in their presence. And, some perfectly good sausages are wasted that the dogs could have eaten.
The other two novellas in the book are good reading also. I would classify them as horror (dark fantasy). All are canines and cocktails related.

“Supreme Court Asked To Hear Case On Concealed Carry Across State Lines”
https://dailycaller.com/2026/09/01/supreme-court-asked-to-hear-case-on-concealed-carry-across-state-lines/
“A petition asking the Supreme Court to hear a Second Amendment case from a trucker argued that Minnesota’s refusal to honor out-of-state concealed carry permits violated the constitutional provision protecting the right to keep and bear arms.”
“Liberty Justice Center first filed the lawsuit in January 2025 against Minnesota Department of Public Safety Commissioner Bob Jacobson over the state’s refusal to recognize the out-of-state permits of two truck drivers, David A. McCoy II and Jeffrey A. Johnson Sr. In the petition filed Aug. 24, the group claimed Minnesota’s approach was turning the Second Amendment into a “second-class right.””
Cool. I hope that they take it and correctly adjudicate it.
We should have the right to take our guns just about anywhere in the USA.

I thought I heard “Jim Acosta” on the news today.
Wasn’t he stabbed and killed in a women’s prison when he was caught hoarding tampons? Or am I confusing him with some other cross-dresser?

If those guys win we should all meet up in Hawaii.
Americans Need To Seize U.S. Assets Foreigners Are Sending Abroad

Keep it simple: Confiscate any money held by alien, legal or illegal, that was not gained through legal employment. . If they can’t legally work, they can’t make money.
Remittances should not be possible without clearance from a federal database showing that all taxes have been paid, and then only within reasonable limits, say 20% of total declared income.
Not happening.
If you want to understand why, visit a Wal-Mart in an agricultural area around 5PM on any Friday afternoon.
An HEB also works if you live in Texas.
As long as the good or service, real wealth, produced by the labor remains here, the dollars need to leave the country and not come back for as long as possible.
The printing presses in the basement of the Eccles Building have been running full throttle since 2009.
The last time I went to the Toyota dealer to have something specific done to my Camry, I watched three “Mama and Papi” couples wander the Tacoma section of the lot until the “Si habla” salesman appeared. Not all of the dollars leave the country, and at least some of the Tacoma production is moving back to San Antonio.
“Mama and Papi” don’t worry me nearly as much as Colonists, especially the Muslim variety with “Engineering and ”Medical” degrees who immigrate kinda sorta legally and have been busy assimilating large parts of the big cities in Texas for a while.
They’re starting to run for office and have been funding political campaigns for a while.
Just ask “MAGA” Mays.
There are many areas of the country where $40k from investments and $20k from SS will give you enough to live on. Comfortably.
No one needs to live in Austin, New York, or similar commie enclaves once they retire.
I’m fortunate that my monthly SS payment exceeds the average value of $2,085.98. In fact, most of my normal expenses are met by my SS money. I draw from savings for hobby stuff, travel, and gifts to my kids and granddaughter. But then, I live fairly frugally, paying all the expenses and groceries in my GF’s paid-for house.
Also, good retirement planning does not mean you keep the capital forever. It is still a good plan if it decreases every year, so long as you don’t run out before you die.
And that is the big trick question. My aunt had a good nest egg, including her home. Burned through it all and the last four years were in a nursing home. My MIL did not spend enough to keep herself more comfortable. Such as insulation for her home, adding central heating and A/C. redoing the wiring from 2-wire ungrounded to 3-wire. It would have made living in San Antonio much more comfortable. She left too much to her heirs.
And speaking of heirs, about $280K is due her son. Specifically for her son’s care by the MIL’s verbal instruction. Not legally obligated according to the will, but morally. That certificate renews in 8 days and the BIL’s oldest son wants the money to be sent to him to control for his father. We said no, not happening. It is the BIL’s, and his wife’s decision. Then the BIL’s oldest son said he wants it in writing that we will give the money to his father for the father’s care. We said no, nothing will be in writing as we are not locking ourselves (wife and I) into a corner. We will play it as it goes. Our, and the BIL’s decision, when the time comes. We will honor the MIL’s wishes and feel that carries a higher responsibility than legal.
Not happening.

If you want to understand why I do not give s flying f*ck at a rolling donut what the ramifications of shutting this shiite down tomorrow would be, just consider that the same kind of tax avoidance by U.S. citizens results in the IRS destroying their lives.
I do not care if Perdue can’t disjoint their chickens, and I do not care if the crops rot in the fields. Robots took over the line jobs in Detroit, and the last sob stoy broadcast on 60 Minutes was from the union hall that was consolidated from no less than seven unions halls that existed as recently as the 1980’s.
The U.S. used to have an agricultural guest worker program, and there is certainly enough support for such among the Republicans that it would be a slam dunk were it not for the PLT’s using illegals as the shock troops to steal the country.
Shut it down, send the illegals home, imprison every last man jack involved in giving them jobs, and make them do hard time on an agricultural prison farm, rotating between stoop labor and mucking out the hog confinement operations with a teaspoon and leaky boots.

Vance faces a narrowing window where he can pull his head out and denounce Tuquar for a lying sack sucking hard from his position atop Mount Kneepad at the bus station, or wake up one day and find that Bessent is passing him in the polls.
Nice tiny little fire, no aviation at all tonight, and no critters. Very quiet.
Time for shower and bed.
I’m glad no hurricane hit us. I’m kinda blase’ about most of them anyway, and I’m kinda p!ssed at the credence given to the weather liars and forecasters who feed the frenzy. I do also wonder what the shelves looked like at HEB today, and if the populace bought the hype.
