Mon. Oct. 12, 2026 – bringing civilization to the savages day

Cool to start, but getting pretty warm late in the day. It was at least in the high 80sF yesterday afternoon, and maybe a bit beyond. Cool night though, with a nice breeze after dusk. I’m hoping for more of the same today.

I slept in but still got a couple of the tasks further toward completion. I put off the attic stuff until today as it was pretty hot by the time I was ready to crawl into it.

Today will be continuing on those things, and maybe landing the circuits into the breaker panel. I’ll mow late in the day before I head home. I’m sure there will be some other smaller tasks like applying another de-greasing treatment to the leather chair I bought and brought up weeks ago. The commercial treatment really does work, it just needs several applications.

Anyway, plenty of stuff from the stacks will be coming home with me to advance the golf cart project, and several items were used in yesterday’s work. Prepping for the win!

Stack what you’ll need later, if you can find it now and the price is right.

    Monday again, already? Good morning!

A short work week for me. I have Friday off to go bash Bambi. The rest of the time until then is going to be very busy, though. Ah, well.

Prepper win. W1’s town runabout blew a headlight bulb. I had a spare on the shelf. It was a bear to get the old one out and the new one in. Those Japanese car builders (or their enslaved children robots) obviously have much smaller hands than I do, or they installed the bulbs before mounting the engine, battery and fuse box.

Prepper fail. That was the last H4 bulb I had in stock. Need to get a couple of spares. It must have been an old unit. The price on the box, for the H4 hi/lo bulb, plus a parking light, brake light and indicator bulb and three fuses was only 2.50!

Autumn is coming in here. Yesterday was cool, rainy and blustery, and it got down to 8C in the evening. It was chilly this morning working on the car, but it is dry and sunny, which was kind. I am looking forward to the autumn colours in the woods at the weekend.

    Have a good week!

The newer LED headlight assemblies have to be replaced as a unit. Calibrated in the computer system. Generally failure in one unit requires both to be replaced. My truck lights self-adjust, so there is machinery involved. Last I checked, if a unit quits, the replacement can run over $4K.

Subbing today. The home economics teacher or whatever it is called today. She left nothing for the students to do. Which is typical for her class based on prior subbing. 100 minutes for the students to do nothing but talk, watch videos on their laptops. What a waste.

A couple of the students did not charge their laptops over the night. Of course their cell phones were charged, don’t want to miss that. But something used for education, nope, not a priority. These people will be entering the work force in a few years. They still need their hands held, clueless about basic math, zero knowledge of what is happening in the news. But they all know who is dating who and who is cheating on who, the words to the latest hip-hop/rap/junk song, and the latest dance craze. Priorities.
