Steamy. REALLY steamy. That’s my guess for today. It got very wet last night, and I’m sure the ball o fire in the sky is still going to be there. That combo equals “steamy”. It was pretty dang hot yesterday too, until late in the day. Then it was almost nice.
Spent the morning doing all the “leaving the BOL” chores, and then part of the afternoon too. But I did get out before dark, and got home shortly after dark. Then the rains came…
Today I will sleep in, in my own comfortable bed. Then I’ll try to figure out what I can get done in the next few days before I head back to the BOL. I’ll spend a week doing something major without everyone else there. Or maybe two minor things. But it’ll be just me for a week. So I better have everything here in order.
Plans. I got ’em. We’ll see how that works out.
Stacking is cool though….

Monday. Good morning!
Warm and a bit overcast. The kind of summer weather I like. Off to the office presently for a meeting, and maybe lunch with colleagues thereafter. Megaproject persists.
Straw-, blue-, and raspberries with yoghurt for breakfast. Refreshing.
Have a good day.
Some years ago I was driving my daughter and a couple of school friends someplace. I referred to some other drivers as dingleberries. Most of the kids ignored it but one girl, a Ukrainian, needed an explanation. No, a dingleberry is not like a strawberry or anything else you’re familiar with. She’d been in the US for five years or so by that point but apparently hadn’t been around anyone as rude as Yours Truly.
Yeh, and I am one of those people. I am neither employed nor am in the work force. And I am living just fine. Of course, you could argue that I am on the government dole because 98.6% of my income, not counting interest and dividends, is from the government coffers. However, I earned that money through SS “contributions” ripped from my paycheck; and being significantly damaged during my contract with Uncle Sam that made me government property, with a serial number, to do with what they wished, including getting killed.
Rude or just well informed? Perspective matters.
The loaner Chihuahua’s woke me up at 5:30 to go out, yipping and whining. Since I stayed up late watching Project Hail Mary this was annoying. Six more days…

It has actually been an unusually cool early summer / late spring. If the el nino prediction carries any water (heh) it might be a cooler and damper summer/fall as well.

Well, Chihuahuas were used as food by the central American natives, so not entirely useless, this might be considered a form of stacking?

Merriam-Webster’s first definition for dingleberries uses an example of drivers on the road.
But I assume it was definition #3 that you meant.
Oddly, there really is a berry with that name. I learned something today.
They omit the one I first learned, which was for hispanic decorative trim on automobiles. Apparently, I learned wrong. The correct term is “dingle balls”.
And it’s up to 90F in the shade, and continuing to rise. Yikes.

I told her the “poop balls” definition and that the term also refers to people who act like idiots.
And then, because teenagers are teenagers regardless of land of birth, she whispered “dingleberry!” at me every time she saw me for the next six months.
LOL!
The World is furious (including American commies) that tRump cheated at soccer.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino’s entire post on X is worth reading.
Not seeing any discussion of the referee “background”.
But I did notice this:

The gap between 1962 and 2025 is unlikely to be devoid of such instances. It seems FIFA has overruled the refs before, but now we have TDS.
@MrAtoz:
I will confess to asking myself, “Where’s the MAGA angle?” when I read that tRump was asking for a re-evaluation (read: withdrawal) of the player’s suspension, and on reading that the player wears a USA shirt, thinking. “Oh, of course”.
This is regardless of whether or not the suspension was warranted. c.f. various tariff threats emanating from the White House.
In other words, tRump has form in this.
G.
Note: I’m generally sympathetic to tRump’s positions – or have been. I’m shifting towards wondering if the left’s statements about, at least the beginnings of, dementia have some truth in them. I don’t think I suffer from TDS. In fact, I believe that he makes good points about unsanctioned immigration.
And in any case, I’m old enough to remember the 1972 Olympic basketball travesty, and total lack of concern from the rest of the world afterward.
The same world that has had very little concern for the rules when it came to the East German women’s swimming team’s blatant use of steroids, the Chinese fielding girl gymnasts with forged birth certificates, and the years-long pursuit of Lance Armstrong that culminated in a disqualification based on re-re-reanalysis of a sample that was illegally retained after it was supposed to be discarded.
So, yeah, the rest of the world can suck it, just like the cheaters in the WNBA.
But would you, if you did?
Not that I have a dog in the FIFA battle? Can’t everyone just take their juice boxes and participation trophies and come back to play kickball next year?
Note that most of the WNBA “athletes” are lesbians, so they probably don’t.
Has anyone else noticed that the UK and the EU are telling old people that they can’t have air conditioning at the same time that energy use is spiking from every tv in Europe being on 24/7 to watch ze futbol?
I have not been following the games or any controversy. I really just don’t care.
Likewise I’m at a point where determining the truth, degree of truth, or outright insanity of any claims pro or con President Trump is just more effort than I’m willing to expend. It’s easier just to consider the source and assume it’s lies or insanity for most of it.
I watched what happened to the US under Carter and his weakness. I watched what happened under Reagan and his strength. I watched the betrayal and dealmaking and the power of what we now call the deep state.
I’ve watched the dems sell out their supposed base on international trade, immigration, labor relations, civil rights and a variety of other things.
I’ve watched the press pick and choose what to report, what was ‘true’, what was false, what mattered and what didn’t. I watched as they revealed themselves to be partisans and against the USA and the reasonable best interests of our nation.
I cared. I thought something could be done about it.
When someone tries, they get killed. Their family gets threatened. They get co-opted at gunpoint. They feel like no one really cares, so why fight?
My circle of ‘give a f uck’ is much smaller than a year ago, 4 years ago, 10 years ago. Short of shooting the bastards, there is very little chance of making a big change (and even then, someone else will put on the makeup and the red nose and wig and step right back into the big shoes). SO, build up big enough but not too big. Amass some resources to take care of those important to you. Avoid attention. DO THINGS. Do them in the real world. There are millions of people doing just that. Find them, recognize them, emulate them.
Let the elephants dance, but stay in your safe mousehole, watching, and don’t get squashed by their big feet.

Life is a mystery.
I haven’t paid much attention to European difficulties with heat this summer but have been watching reports from NYFC. Mammasdummy told everyone that they have to turn their thermostats to 80, but a janitor got a picture of the thermostat in his office yesterday or today and it was set to 67. During the blackout which covered much of NYFC, many buildings, including hospitals, were on generators or were without power, with the mayor’s office telling people who did have power to turn off their ACs to help with grid recovery (which is good advice) but a reporter with camera crew found that a number of government office buildings were powered in the midst of the blackout and their lobbies were at about 72 when the outside air temp was pushing 100. And the electric buses which replaced the diesel buses have been running their normal schedule and consume enough electricity to power an estimated 1,000,000 window AC units. I have seen no reports that the buses’ charging stations were affected by the blackout or brownouts.
ref recent discussion about what is wrong with people.
If you look up “Big Lie” on Wikipedia, you get a decent definition in paragraph 1, and a perfect example in paragraph 3. Wikipedia is oblivious to what they did there. It’s their story about the 2020 election and calling Trump a liar that’s the Big Lie, and as such their paragraph is ironic.
It’s this combination of slanted media coverage, and selective non-coverage of stories that is used. Because over time, it works. It wears you down, and gets internalized.
The left makes many false statements, day in and day out, through many forms of media, carrying a single, anti-Western bias. The enemies of America and the West and Whites use every tool in their toolbox to drag us down and paint us in the most unfavorable light. Including jury tampering and lawfare.
Trump wielding power and influence in favor of the US is part and parcel of his MAGA promise. Especially in regards to something as inconsequential as a world kickball contest.
If we win, it’s a feather in our cap. If we lose, so what?
They have diesel generators onsite to charge them.
OK maybe natural gas
He probably did, but soccer, so who gives a shirt -r?
Yeah, it turns out that Trump used the same secret drugs that wer used on Biden for years to get buff for a few hours. Then it was just a matter of his good makeup team losing the orange and he slipped in to play goalie for a couple of games.

I have been camping with people like that. I show up and sleep in the bed of my pickup, they show up with a three bedroom tent and air conditioning. Of course, now that I am old, that sounds awesome.
I looked for this article/picture, and what I found was a post with a picture of Mamdani with a generic thermostat overlaid. No indication the thermostat had anything to do with the Mayor’s office. And, the thermostat was set to “heat” mode and clearly said “heating”, which is not something you’d see in NYC yesterday or today (unless someone was intentionally messing with the settings to set up the picture, which also makes it unreliable). I guess that’s what happens when you get your news from Facebook. As for the rest of your comments, falsus in uno, falsus in omnibus.
Or, just barely conceivably, you found a different post than I saw. But you do you.
“111 Million U.S. Adults Do Not Have a Job and America Spends More Than a Trillion Dollars per Year on a Social Safety Net for Them”
https://thelibertydaily.com/111-million-u-s-adults-do-not-have/
This is bad, very bad.
They believe in Uncle Santa Claus more than they believe in supporting themselves.
Mr. Snyder is always a glass half empty guy and needs a block of salt near his pronouncements. Of his 111 million not employed number, 60 odd million are retirees. Some millions are legitimately disabled. Some unknown (to me) number are home makers. I’m sure that leaves an appalling, growing millions of fraudsters or at least questionable beneficiaries, but not as alarming as the headline number.
Well, that sucks if that 111 million number includes 65+ million retirees. But the USA is spending about three trillion dollars per year right now on Social Security and Medicare. Both of which were funded by the same retirees.
In fact, both Social Security and Medicare are self funding at 73% from taxes on working people, like me and my wife, at the moment. And the 27% deficit is made up from US government bonds that both bought from the US Treasury over the years. So that portion of his argument is not valid. Still that leaves 111 million – 65 million = 46 million adults who are not working in the USA.
There was a post last week that measured temps in some public areas of City Hall:
https://nypost.com/2026/07/02/us-news/mamdani-cant-even-get-city-hall-to-stick-to-his-78-degree-ac-rule-as-temps-in-building-hit-as-low-as-54/
Access to non-public areas was denied by staff.

That 46 million is reasonably whittled down further by other groups such as homemakers, military and other U.S. government spouses posted overseas, students, trust-fund babies, etc.
Then there is the illegal cash economy largely dealing in drugs and s*x and mowing Democrats lawns in California.

Given that the left in the USA are now communists, I believe them to be mentally unbalanced. And they will start a civil war OR a split in the USA in the not so distant future. The USA south and central will never go communist and not allow ourselves to be ruled by communists.

Suggestion: for your next hunting trip, go to Ohio or another state which has a large Caribbean or other “migrant” or “refugee” population. Just be aware that hunting Haitians will probably be boring because they’re not as smart or agile as, say, elk.
re the number of adults not working, what I take from the number is not how many people are collecting benefits of one form or another but how few people are doing the work which keeps everything going. I’d been guestimating that about half of the people in the US were working and that half of those were doing productive work, for a very fuzzy definition of productive. It looks like that first number was well on the high side.
Cool, I got downvoted on my comment that the left is mentally unbalanced.

I’ve got a pc repair guy running in my youtube shorts on the other monitor while I do auction stuff. It’s amazing what people do to F up their machines. One slightly bent CPU pin, and no post. One guy forgot to connect the power header to the MB. One guy’s gaming rig cost almost $10K and wasn’t running.
One guy plugged his very expensive GPU into the 4x PCI slot instead of the 16x slot… and was getting incredibly low framerates, but still playable…

Project Hail Mary is a MGM movie, a wholly owned subsidiary of Amazon. Yup, the movie starts with Leo the Lion roaring.
The word on the streets is that Jeff Bezos negotiated the contract with Andy Weir personally and paid him $3,000,000 with full rights over the screenplay. Bezos don’t screw around with his scifi movies, he is a big fan of the genre.

Only two weeks past the solstice and days are notably shorter. If I don’t get out to open up the chickens until 0500, only a few have come down yet and they aren’t yelling angrily at me. In the evening, they’re already on the roof of the coop before 2100.
Note that they have a nice, safe coop with a roosting rail, but almost every evening most of them will be perched on the peak of the coop roof and I have to pick them up and put them in the side door. Some, the more intelligent of them, deal with it quietly. Others pitch a fit every time. The only time they’re all in is when the weather is quite bad. I’d like to just let them stay up but it’s not safe. The wind has picked up and smashed the run to the extent that I can’t keep raccoons from finding a spot to squirm under.
Wind brought down a branch across the street. It was quite big too, 20ft long and 8″ around where it broke off.
