Another one just like the other one. Cool to start, warming to hot later. Yesterday, today, and probably tomorrow as well. It’s not bad, but the cool morning sets an expectation that makes the hot afternoon feel like a betrayal. Kinda. Still better to have some relief, and the lower humidity has been nice.
Did my hobby thing yesterday. Didn’t actually do much else. By the time I got home and ate, I was tired, napped, then did some office stuff. Not the productive day I was hoping for.
W and D2 get home today, so I probably won’t get much actual work done today either, but I’m going to start out like I will. Gotta try, right? It will be nice to have the pack back together. I’m not really digging this new thing where the kids do their own stuff and aren’t around. I know it is natural, and even desirable, but I still don’t love it.
But despite what should be due me for all my magnificence, the world doesn’t revolve around what I want. Most of the time. So I’ll keep doing what I know how to do. Stack. Fix. Learn. And fall behind…

Apparently, Nick is indeed a figment of SteveF’s imagination 🙂
“On my way home. Be there in 15 minutes. If not there in 20 minutes, read this message again.”
Wishing you all a peaceful Sunday. I will be driving for a good chunk of the day, from the in-laws’ to the BOL, then back to base.
Which one? LGBTQATF has two Ts.
Note how naturally “ATF” attaches to “LGBTQ”.
Might have to restrict car privileges or permission to go to parties for the next couple weeks.
Stepping from parenting issues to legal issues, did she drive? She’s still a minor, right? If yes to both, what’s the Texas law on minors driving after dark or after 2200?
I wondered about that possibility after examining the surveillance stills of the killer when they first hit the Interwebz, but the first thing that popped into my head when I saw the shirt/hat was “LDS”.
Ding ding ding ding ding.

Christianity is a “big tent”, but it has always been my experience – which includes six years at a Fundamentalist elementary school – that the Mormons are considered “Christian” with an asterisk by the Evangelicals.
In 2012, when Mittens wouldn’t seal the deal about abolishing Obamacare in the run-up to the election, the Evangelicals stayed home rather than risk a Mormon Elder in the White House advancing the church’s agenda. Better to have a lame duck Obama and hope something better appeared in 2016.
Jeb! was coming, and he torched his chances of a Senate seat in Florida with the Terry Schiavo fiasco, paying lip service to upholding “Christian” values.
It’s a furry.
Miami spent more. Guaranteed.
If yes to both, what’s the Texas law on minors driving after dark or after 2200?
– That is a good question. W has been dealing with the legal aspects of her driving, I’ve been teaching the more physical and mental aspects. W and I will have a talk this evening. Kid claims to have been delayed by a wreck and traffic. Airtag might tell a different tale.

WRT to the murderer’s partners and motivation, the alphabet activists and militant deviants are indicative of self-centeredness and mental health issues especially when there is an extreme visual component to their issues.
I don’t think gun bans are the answer. A whole lot less tolerance for extreme behaviors and a lot more consequence for lashing out might help.

Sunny, with very light overcast. 80F and slowly rising.

That article, https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-15096571/Trans-partner-Charlie-Kirk-killer-Tyler-Robinson.html is a great example of how your online history can be linked, tracked, and finally used against you. It takes a one line quote from a game review and uses it to imply conspiracy on the part of the murderer.
It’s worth a read.

Once the Feds have the hard drive, the online activity records from the ISP can be coordinated with the browser cache to build a complete short term history of online activity, even if the suspect uses a VPN or Tor.
Again, VPNs shift packet origins in space, not time. The same goes for Tor.
Ward Clark at Redstate:
“Look, I’m as staunch a defender of free speech as you’ll find anywhere. These people, yes, have a right to say what they said, a right protected by the First Amendment. Hateful speech is protected, too, after all. But their employers also have the right to defenestrate them if they publicly express opinions and views that the employer finds hateful, and the comments these people are making are hateful indeed. These foul people should be dragged into the daylight, fired, and then roundly mocked for it.
To all of these halfwits who are attacking Charlie and the Kirks, and by extension, all of us, I would only say this:
When worn on the other foot, the shoe pinches. Welcome to Cancel Culture Part Deux; as it turns out, we’re better at it than you were.”
https://redstate.com/wardclark/2025/09/14/hateful-charlie-kirk-detractors-are-losing-their-jobs-and-its-glorious-n2193938
Mr. Clark’s last statement is incorrect. Considering the assault on conservatives over the last twenty years in which civil views, free speech in public facilities, associations, constitutional rights, ability to use financial institutions and conduct business have been threatened not only by the leftist mob but by our local, state, and federal governments, as well as the businesses that we use, the ledger has a long way to go to achieve balance, much less reach a conclusion that we are better.
William Jacobson reviews some of that history at Legal Insurrection:
https://legalinsurrection.com/2025/09/tea-party-was-a-leave-me-alone-movement-they-didnt-leave-us-alone-and-now-its-fafo/
I do not want to impose my views on others, but I am not going to allow a minority of racist, anti-Christian, America-hating communist terrorists to destroy our civilization, and I will include the yellow-dog Democrats and other enablers as targets if retribution, not collateral damage. Being on the short end of asymmetrical warfare is a suckers game that I will not play.
Taking the Second Amendment as written, SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED, would pretty well solve the problem. Most would-be shooters, whether assassins or mass-shooters, will be deterred if they know that 50% of any crowd is armed. Few people are actively suicidal, even if their body mutilation suggests a disturbing level of self-loathing.
Naturally. It comes from me and I’m, like, a genius or something.
And besides that, I’ve raised three kids. None got driver’s licenses as minors, though, mainly on account of active interference by their mothers. I did drive with them in parking lots when they were 16 (and even younger, letting six-year-olds sit on my lap and steer while we drove “really fast” at about three miles per hour) but they didn’t want to deal with the screaming and nagging if they got licenses.
A very succinct formulation:
“One key lesson that emerged from the horror of Charlie Kirk’s assassination was summed up neatly by a post on X: “They don’t kill you because you’re a Nazi; they call you a Nazi so they can kill you.” More and more people are coming to understand this.”
https://amgreatness.com/2025/09/14/why-the-left-wants-the-right-to-lower-the-temperature/
Yeah, Nazi. Trump tho.
Here’s the thing. Trump. I’m jus’ sayin’.
Nothing has changed.
And they probably have enough gas left to win the House and get Impeachment Congress 2.0.
Even Uncle Festerman is getting shit on by the PLTs for saying tRump isn’t Hitler.
In other news:
My remaining IRA is up $180K since the tRump tAriff dUmp. Must be the remaining Tesla stock…..
NVDA. That stock is currently 7+% of the S&P 500 market cap.
Enjoy the ride. When the monkey trick runs out of steam, so does the bull market.
NVDA broke support a week ago Friday, but Larry Ellison’s antics put the share price back above the critical level to avoid a meltdown … for now.
Dadgumit, I have dropped my phone a hundred times and nothing happened. The 101st time, the corner of my Samsung Galaxty S10p is totally crunched. The screen is spiderwebbed in that corner now.
Oh well, I need a 5G phone anyway.
I’ve had the same phone, a Moto E3, for going on eight years. I never dropped it farther than from a desk to a carpeted floor and it was in excellent shape for the first six months I had it. Then my then-eleven-year-old daughter finished playing a game and put it into my backpack. Put it in wrong, with the screen against something with a hard corner, and the phone got a crack a couple inches long near the bottom. Annoying but no problem because the phone worked fine and the metal case had not a scratch on it. No further drops or other damage for six more years. Then last year my daughter rode an electric bike and I made a video to show how fast she could go a tenth of a mile and I dropped the phone five feet onto asphalt, landing on a corner. The metal corner crumpled a bit and a very small part of the screen is starred but 99% of the screen is still readable and usable. Either I was very lucky or the phone is exceptionally durable. Mostly I’m just annoyed because I don’t do things like that; the first time in months or a year that I just fumble-fingers something and it was my phone onto a road. Duh.
Yikes! I have an E4 in a drawer somewhere if you need an upgrade.
Security patches on the E4 stopped in 2019, however.
I have an E6 as my backup Android phone to my iPhone SE 3rd gen.
The E6 is the end of the series featuring a removable battery.
I have some paying work that I need to do and there’s a deadline but I’ve been pretty well unable to work today or yesterday. Too tired to think straight but there’s too much going on for me to sleep. Same reason as a month or so ago: yelling and thumping at all hours of the day or night. Grandma still has 24/7 aides and they’re doing about as well as anyone could expect but her brain is rotted.
In other, equally annoying, news, I’ve been wanting to exercise for the past couple evenings but one knee and one shoulder, are hurting kind of a lot. Old injuries, acting up because of the mowing and the toting and hauling I’ve been doing. And the soles of my feet have several punctures, a few with thorns still in them, because my wife trimmed the pricker bushes and didn’t clean up the trimmings and I walked on them. Quite annoying. She’s thoughtless, in the literal meaning of the word.
Typo. Duh. I have an E4.
Well, I did get a couple of things done. String trimmed the back and front yards, and blew the debris. Mortared more of the flagstone walk.
Read a couple of chapters while on cool down.
Some fix it parts I needed arrived.
W just got home.
Need to find some dinner soon, I think.

The debate about crime comes amid national outrage over the shocking killing of Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska, who was allegedly stabbed to death by a schizophrenic man while riding a train in Charlotte, North Carolina.
no one writes coherent english anymore. Iryna was stabbed to death, by an allegedly schizo man…
There isn’t any doubt she was stabbed to death, nor by who, nor where. The only thing in question is his mental state, and it’s not relevant.

whew. It did get pretty hot this afternoon, and still as a tomb. I probably should have come in earlier.

That is a very depressing song, to the point that the military and mucky mucks in Clarksville, TN eventually applied enough pressure on Hart to release a statement to the effect that the Clarksville in the song is not Clarksville, TN.
Except that it is.
I pulled my Google account off of the E4, did a factory reset, and installed open source apps from FDroid for browser, mail, maps, etc.
As long as an Android phone/tablet continues to receive updates to OsmAnd (maps) from FDroid, I keep the device around.
I don’t venture out into the boonies around here without OsmAnd preloaded with a current map of the state.
I turn my phone on a couple times per month, for a few minutes or a few hours at a time and I do only calls and texts, no other apps. In principle I suppose I should be worried about security updates but in practice, meh.
Well, too late for an early night, but I can at least cut my losses and get to bed.
