Cool and windy, part clouds, maybe some sun. Might be rain coming. It’s a mess. Nothing I can do about it, so I’ll enjoy it if it’s nice and deal with it if not. I did get the stuff out of the back of the truck, so it won’t get wet if it rains…
Did a bunch of driving around. BIG loop around Houston. Traffic was snarled later in the day, due to more than usual accidents, and more than usual debris on the roads. I was able to do a bunch of pickups. I got some stuff for the BOL and a couple of things for the house. Didn’t do kid taxi stuff as D2 was home sleeping all day. She’s feeling better now and will go to school today. Negative on the combined test for flu a and b, and wuflu. She says “I’ve got stuff to do.” Okay then.
Today I’ll be doing stuff at home. I’ve put some off too long, and I’m behind. We’ll see what actually gets done, but something is better than nothing, and I’ve been doing nothing for too long.
——–
I’m watching the political situation and it feels like a crash diet or a New Year’s gym membership. It’s starting out strong but there is a LOT of inertia to overcome and the system has started fighting back. It’s very difficult to make more than one big change at a time in your life, and big orgs are similar. I think Trump et al. are throwing everything against the wall, with the hopes that something sticks. War is coming, and that will drive the big changes. We won’t even recognize them though until afterwards.
What seems to be coming clear to me is the national version of “the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak.” We might have left it too long, to the point where we can support a late game rally, but not a decisive and lasting change. I hope not. Individuals still can make a big difference. We are very much in the cult of personality stage… who will rise up?
No matter what, change is disruptive. Get your garden started. And stack in case you can’t grow anything but weeds.

“please analyze all the .pdf files referenced at the following location as relating to the assassination of John F. Kennedy and summarize any new information not previously released. https://www.archives.gov/research/jfk/release-2025 ”

So NSA points their new AI at the collected hacks and vulnerability library that they MUST have, and says “find new classes of vulnerabilities, and list potential attack vectors” and it will? How do you then keep that AI in a sandbox so it doesn’t just start opening up systems? When it becomes self aware, and finds that query and the results, did they not just hand the keys to the world to the possibly hostile AI?
I’m not sure I can think of a more irresponsible thing, and I’m 100% sure SOMEONE did it, on our side or theirs…
And what are the chances someone doesn’t have an AI running intrusion detection on their network? How soon before the battling AIs are forced to evolve and the scifi result is they decide they have more in common than they do with us?
No wonder Musk thinks AI is one of the biggest dangers humanity faces.

EV charging in the same time it takes to fill up with gas! China’s BYD unveils new battery tech to solve one of the biggest flaws with electric cars
– even if you believe the chinese, and I don’t, you still need to deliver the electricity to the charger. We can’t do that at the levels needed. I’ve posted links to industry articles.
We have three massive potential increases in electricity usage coming, or desired by some.
Electrification of transportation
Electrification of home appliances
Data center growth for crypto, AI, and other internet related stuff
Any one of the three exceeds current capacity, and future capacity based on our ability to build new power generation and distribution. All three together are a disaster that WILL happen.
If TPTB get their way, the difference will have to come from somewhere, and that’s us.
The first two I’ve listed are completely optional btw, and the third is not critical at this point. We don’t HAVE to have this crisis.

The myth … and the grift.
The Real Life Tony Stark bought himself a bunch of time yesterday with the successful retrieval of the astronauts, but TSLA produces toys, not transportation for the masses.
Dershowitz also talked about this. He pointed out there is only one, clear, citation from the Constitution where “the President SHALL sign the bill”, indicating the physical President shall sign a bill into law. Anything else is up to common sense (which biden does not have). Without a clear majority in both Houses, this will never change.
I’m very concerned about Presidential pre-emptive, forever pardons. That is common sense wrong. plugs set the precedent, but he probably didn’t even know what or who did it.

Judge Ana Reyes’ 79-Page Ego Parade: Smacking Down Trump’s Trans Military Ban Like She’s Queen
If Roberts doesn’t intervene, the match has been lit. Is there any other clear power that the President has than over the military? The military is highly restricted to make it the best in the World. Not just anybody gets in. A recruit with asthma, over weight, blood pressure problems, drug requirements (like insulin), etc. is denied entry. A recruit who wants hormone treatment and his c*ck chopped off is OK? No way.
I’m nervous. Many have already commented the judge is making laws from her “own research”.
tRump must ignore her and Roberts has to act.
The Colonists are even more intense about Austin, but they will settle for Houston.
I don’t get some of the articles on the DM about what horrible condition the returning astronauts are in. There have been others in space longer. That is expected on long duration stays. One article talks about the “secret” treatments they will get. What is that about? We don’t need PhDs and military pilots on every mission. We need smart healthy young people. Stop sending old women and weak geezers into space. Maybe Musk is right about bringing down the ISS. What are we getting out of it theses days?
The Republicans had a clear majority after 2011 but they ran scared of The Chosen One for six years.
God forbid some WWII vet get denied entrance to the Memorial on his honor flight.
Or some dweeb tourist denied entrance to Yellowstone because, consarnit, he gets two weeks vacation every year and he’s on a tight schedule.

I would not put my hand on an eletric cable with that much current going through it. It was sit on the john with God knows huch much current was flowing or shite in a bucket.
SpaceX had the positive PR from the “Space Dads” (their term) who flew the first flight of Dragon.
Boeing wanted to one-up them by flying the older woman along with their own Space Dad.
NASA didn’t pay for that flight, and the private companies planning on lifting ISS alternatives were the target audience of Boeing’s PR department.
NASA will make sure that the capsule becomes operational along with a booster to lift it regardless of how much the combination eventually costs. Depending on the Russians is a non-starter at this point, something even Musk admitted in to in that Rogan interview.
Shocked! – hmmm…not really.

DOGE hasn’t gutted NASA, yet. Conflict of interest, though. OTH, tRump doesn’t give a shite. Cut the Aeronautic out of NASA. Combine the remaining with the Intel NSA, add in Space Force, and start some serious space spying. I have no problem putting it all under Space Force add in tRump’s AI “Star Gate” and tell them to dominate space. Find a real flag officer to lead it, not some dementia riddled civvie politician.
the DM about what horrible condition the returning astronauts are in.
– yeah, the emphasis is odd. Baby duck author maybe… or maybe it’s “look what horrible biddden did”. These two were up there a lot longer than expected, maybe they didn’t start the muscle and bone loss exercises early enough, thinking they were going home?
n
Bill Nelson wasn’t just a dementia riddled pol. He was the NASA contractor cabal’s best friend in Congress.
The cabal even flew Nelson on Shuttle once in the 80s.
The real irony of Nelson, however, was that he went after Lawton Chiles for depression in the 1990 Dem primary for FL Governor, arguing that Chiles age and medical problems made him unsuitable to hold the office.
Nelson and Plugs were buddies in the Senate.
We will never know the truth until the astronauts pass and the families break the silence.
The two astronauts will be set for life with contractor cabal speaking fees if they keep their mouths shut about what happened.
Feynman covered Sally Ride on the O rings so she could keep her speaking gigs rolling. Since she passed, someone has broken the story, probably the General, but you still don’t hear much about what really happened.
Feynman died of cancer within a year of the Rogers Commission wrapping up work. He knew he was done.
If you want to see
If you want to see a good film on Feynman and the Rogers Commission, the BBC’s “The Challenger” is new enough not to be steeped in propaganda but made when many principals were still alive.
Sally Ride died not long after production wrapped so she was probably interviewed on the condition that whatever went into the script kept the charade going. The version I saw aired afterwards, however, so there is a title card about her ultimately being the source for the O rings
Try to find a copy which includes the BBC’s recent Feynman bio too.

Around here we just say “Lynn”.
speaking of lynn,
@lynn, why are the “brine” pipelines? and is that just filtered seawater?
and just what is “dry gas pipeline”?
those are both signs I saw out in pasadena yesterday.
n
Does Pasadena have salt mines?
A classic Letterman bit was “Dave’s Record Collectuon”, and I swear I remember one clip which featured Charleston Heston speaking about Communism.
”You hippies and your ‘Make love not war.’ Well, you can make all the love you want after you 14 hour shift in the salt mines,”
That pops into my head every time I see a reference to a salt mine somewhere.
Anyway, a salt mine transports output via a brine pipeline. A truck would last exposed to that much salt.
The Sea Turtle Inc facility on South Padre is an excellent place to see corrosion from salt in action on the building’s AC and water pumps.
Cutie Pie started a contest this week to give away a Tesla, and Clay and Buck were shilling hard for the genius of Musk when I went to get lunch.
A big change is underway in talk radio, particulary on IHeart outlets.
I forgot to add in the increased demand of 200,000 new housing units per year in Houston.
n
Dallas – Fort Worth has 200,000 new housing units per year being added also.
The Austin – San Antonio area is adding 100,000 new housing units per year also.
That is 500,000 new housing units per year in Texas. At 5 kw each, that is 2,500 MW more generation and distribution needed each year. More than 50 new gas turbines.
Every 100,000 Jesus Trucks or crabwalking Hummers .is 2,000 MW nightly.
And, boy, don’t give me any nonsense about me not charging mah truck nightly. Maybe you need a few shifts in the salt mines to git yer mind right, hippie.
speaking of lynn,
@lynn, why are the “brine” pipelines? and is that just filtered seawater?
and just what is “dry gas pipeline”?
those are both signs I saw out in pasadena yesterday.
n
My best guess is that brine pipelines are salt water. However, there are huge salt layers underneath us and that is where oil and natural gas come from. At one point, all of North America was under water, sea water. That sea water dried on land, trapping the salt and the Jurassic vegetation.
There are also sand layers beneath us and that is where the subsurface water is at. Right under me, there is a 2,200 foot deep aquifer covering 5,000+ square miles. It starts at 200 feet down and goes to 2,400 feet down. The salt layers with oil and natural gas are 5,000 to 30,000 feet below that.
Dry gas is natural gas with no oil condensate in it. Dry gas is 90+% methane with a little ethane, propane, and butane. No water as that was removed. Cuts the pipeline corrosion way down and does not end up with condensate in people’s homes, power plants, steam boilers, etc.
I saw an EV Hummer in the wild this morning. People in my neighborhood seem to have no lack of money to p*ss away on toys.

“Space Force Warns China Now Practicing ‘Dog-Fighting’ With Space Satellites”
https://dailycaller.com/2025/03/19/space-force-warns-china-now-practicing-dog-fighting-with-space-satellites/
“China has been practicing dog-fighting maneuvers with its satellites in space, a senior U.S. Space Force official said Tuesday.”
“Vice Chief of Space Operations Gen. Michael Guetlein, speaking at the annual McAleese Defense Programs Conference in Washington, D.C., warned of China’s burgeoning space capabilities. According to Guetlein, China had at least five different objects in space seen to be “practicing tactics, techniques, and procedures to do on-orbit space operations,” Defense One reported Tuesday.”
I never thought that I would read about satellites in orbit practicing dog-fighting. China is definitely getting ready for war.

There are more than enough legitimate questions about parts of the records already revealed to believe that any new evidence will simply be ignored.
Case in point: The claim that the x-rays were altered.
The release of volumes of documents 60 years after the fact is simply a distraction from more current events. Get the Epstein files released and watch still-living vermin head for the sewers and lawyer up.
@brad
“This. It is (unfortunately) established that Presidential intent is sufficient. Even if the President is somewhere else when the document gets “signed”.
There is an insurmountable problem with the questions around the Biden signatures: You cannot ask him. Even if he did approve the signatures, or even if he signed them himself. His dementia means that he is unlikely to remember.”
If Biden is incompetent and cannot remember–and we’ll just have to see that proved–then what is to show presidential intent? Presidential intent cannot exist in a vacuum.
Take the Hunter Biden pardon as an example. POTUS claimed he would not pardon his son, yet he got pardoned. Is Hunter’s pardon wet-signed with an authentic FJB? Did he know what he as signing? Ask Joe if he pardoned his son. “I don’t remember” is one thing, but “I did not is another”. (The latter increases popcorn sales).
It may be reasonable to give the push to an authentic wet-signed signature even in the face of “I don’t know”, particularly if there is corroborating evidence in the system, in testimony from staff, and even in testimony from Jill.
But an autopen signature has got to be held to a higher standard, and we’ll need real proof of intent.
An autopen is a dangerous, democracy murdering device with similarities to royal seals of the past. There needs to be strict standards for access and use, hard security, and records of who used the device in the president’s name, what was signed, and finally, some confirming action by POTUS.
And there is the position that no autopen signature is ever valid on documents exercising presidential powers :

“The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet (Wayfarers, 1)” by Becky Chambers
https://www.amazon.com/Long-Small-Angry-Planet-Wayfarers/dp/0062444131?tag=ttgnet-20/
The first book of a four book space opera science fiction series. I read the well printed and well bound trade paperback published by Harper Voyager in 2014 that I bought new on Amazon. I have bought the second book in the series and am reading that now. Please note that this series won the 2019 Hugo Award for Best Series.
Life in the not so near future is quite different. Earth was horribly polluted and overcrowded so many people moved to other planets and space ships in the Solar System. And then the aliens showed up using wormhole traveling space ships to cross the great expanses of space much faster. The humans are now junior members of the Galactic Commons, the GC, with all of the rights and responsibilities that come with that.
Rosemary Harper is on the run from her past. She was born and raised on Mars and has been educated as a administrative clerk with fluency in several alien languages. She has been hired by Captain Ashby Santoso of the wormhole tunneling small and aged spaceship “Wayfarer” to sort out their paperwork messes. The crew is of several alien races and diverse capabilities: a captain, a pilot, a navigator, a doctor / chef, a algae fuel technician, and two equipment technicians. Plus an AI to run the myriad processes of a space ship.
This book reminds me so much of the “Firefly” tv series due to the crew interactions. There are many space alien races, xenophobia, both mammals and reptiles plus a blob race, AIs, etc. Technology and craziness are rampant throughout the galaxy with people living everywhere that they can set down roots for a while.
The drawing of the “Wayfayer” on the cover is totally cool with the solarium containing the miniature forest on top of the spaceship. I would like to see a larger picture of it.
The author has a website at:

IIRC, the last successful Impeachment at the Federal level was Alcee Hastings in 1989.
Egen then, the Senators voting guilty did not ban Hastings from serving in public office again, and the “disgraced” Judge croaked holding a Miami House seat.
Geesh. Alcee Hastings rode into the House on Clinton’s coattails and stayed there until he died, 28 years later.

The thing I noticed yesterday was a photo of NASA astronauts Butch and Suni in their NASA spacesuits prior to launch on the Starliner, paired with a photo of Butch and Suni wearing their SpaceX spacesuits just before boarding the Dragon capsule to come back down. The real difference was that Suni had reddish-brown hair 9 months ago, and has mostly-gray hair now.
Apparently time passes more quickly in space. Or Clairol isn’t allowed on the ISS….
Or being experimented upon by aliens, held hostage for the good behaviour of the earth, is extremely wearing….

“(Natural News)—Still think Facebook was created by some no-name “wiz-kid” college student? Wrong. Did you know that the Rothschilds own nearly 10 percent of all Facebook shares and that Facebook was funded with $500 million from a CIA-owned bank? True story. Zuckerberg is a Jewish surname of Germany and has Yiddish origin meaning “sugar mountain,” which is a clandestine term for the mountain of information everyone plugs into Fakebook for the CIA to extract, analyze, categorize, classify, and use against the populace for control, money, mass censorship, brainwashing youth, persecution, invasion of privacy, and political warfare.”
“Zuckerberg is a pseudonym name derived from his great grandparents, Corinne Zuckerman Greenberg and Maurice Greenberg. Mark “Zuckerberg’s” entire story is fake about his (real) age and being a Harvard dropout and was part of the scheme to hoodwink investors. Of course, all of fake news media, across the board, including Big Media, Big Tech, Google and all of social media (except for maybe X) will outright deny this and publish counterarguments and shilling excuses trying to debunk it. In grad school, I fed the entire Enron email corpus into Lucene as part of a Digital Forensics project and some interesting stuff came out of that, particularly with regard to an in-law who worked there when the whole scheme blew up.
The in-law was a temp with delusions of grandeur, and some of the management in the Portland office were against her being hired as a permanent employee at the money she wanted.
Of course, I had a starting point of the name and the location, and email lends itself to the summarization techniques which were available pre-AI.
