Cooler today, I hope. The rain last night brought the temperature down, and it would be nice if the front stayed around for another day or two. But it probably won’t. I expect it will still be 90sF today if the sun comes out. Summer is fighting to stick around a bit longer.
Spent the day yesterday running the kid around and doing domestic bliss. It’s weird not having a pickup or even anything pending. I did get my final settlement from the first auction with the new auctioneer and I averaged $10 per lot. They sent me the preview for the next one and the lots look stronger,so I’m hoping to increase the average a bit. Part time money from part time work, that’s all I really want, and I want it to be ongoing.
Today I’ve got kid taxi duties again, although D1 is feeling better and will be going to school, so big sis will take care of some of the driving, especially the morning stuff. I’ve got the afternoon and evening school event driving.
That’ll leave me time to do my pickups. I might even get more stuff moved around in my office and the house if I’m lucky or diligent. Time to refresh and clean out damaged preps too. I’ve got a lot of damaged food from the poor storage conditions that needs to be dealt with and replaced. Just more items on the list.
Some of the list will be determined by weather.
There’s always room for improvement.
Stack.

Friday. Good morning from Vienna.
The birthday child spent the day yesterday shopping. Vienna is one of the few European cities that still has old-style retail other than the ubiquitous chain stores, so I didn’t much mind being dragged along.
I managed to finagle a visit to one of the city’s best tool shops, which was nice. Picked up a hand vice.
Birthday girl has good taste; she spotted the Victorinox 2026 Special Edition pocket knife (blue alox) at the tool shop, and liked the colour, so she got a spontaneous birthday gift.
We had intended to have Wiener Schnitzel for birthday dinner, but when we got to the Schnitzelwirt, the queue was out the door, so we had Greek instead. Vienna has lots of food choices, but don’t expect to find much open after 9pm.
Nick, we visited Walter Weiss, my favourite personal-grooming specialist (hairbrushes, shaving and manicure gear). I picked up a tube of super-heavy-duty moustache wax for you. The lady says it’s a lifetime supply, to be used sparingly. You can see my email address; drop me a line with a postal address and I will send it on…
Yesterday was Mammon, today we’ll do Culture. Probably a visit to the Albertina or Albertina Modern.
Time to get up and presentable. Have a good day!
