Wed. July 8, 2026 – over the top, under the bottom

By on July 8th, 2026 in culture, decline and fall, lakehouse

Hot and wet. Not the good kind. The Houston kind. Got to 100F yesterday, and the air was saturated. Then it rained. And then it got hot again. And then it rained. We did get some blue sky so that was nice. More of the same today is my guess.

Did some things in the morning. Then did some things in the afternoon. Not enough things. Not super productive things. Just things.

Now today I have structure. I have a couple of pickups to do so I have to meet another person’s schedule. I’m not winning. And I really should be making a list of stuff to take up with me for my projects at the BOL… so I can buy that stuff and raid the stacks for the other stuff…

But I am not motivated.

Just keep swimming. Just keep swimming…

And stack, if you feel like it.

    Wednesday! Good morning.

It is a beautiful summer day here, so naturally I am stuck indoors working on megaproject. Deadlines are approaching and colleagues, particularly one on the distaff side, are starting to become hysterical. I am polishing my cluebat, just in case.

    Have a lovely day.

My point is why was he fired?

There is a whole saga going back years. Burke and his family are serial litigants, and somehow seem to make a living out of that. I suppose there is some kind of sympathy grifting going on, which is why the stunts keep on coming, to keep the sympathy levels up. I haven’t looked to see if there is a GoFundMe or equivalent, ubut I wouldn’t be surprised.

If you want the excruciating details, visit RTE.ie and search for “Enoch Burke”. You can spend a day or two reading. Maybe start here: https://www.rte.ie/news/courts/2026/0701/1581265-enoch-burke/

Burke worked in a private school, the policy of which is to accommodate transgenderism. He objected to that policy. Rather than change employers after he failed to have the policy changed, he preferred to disrupt activities at the school.

He was suspended, then lost his job (the dismissal has been confirmed at the various levels of appeal), and was barred, then trespassed, from the school premises. He continued to trespass, and would not undertake to stop trespassing, which is basically why the courts locked him up.

They let him out now because school is out for summer. If he trespasses again when term resumes, he will surely go back to jail.
