Sun. Oct. 18, 2026 – gonna be a work around the house day

Cool or even cold, then warming a bit. The wind never stopped blowing yesterday until long after dusk. Temps might have gotten into mid 70sF, but dropped below 60F before I went to bed. I think today will be similar, but then we’ll be back to milder weather after that.

I didn’t manage to sleep in Saturday, which was ok. I ended up meeting the HVAC guy at the rent house and doing a couple of other things before getting home. After I ate, I did a bit of work on the golf cart and then put out some more decor and lighting.

I’ll do more of that today. IF the battery charger works, I should be able to get the cart moving today. I’ve got all the critical control stuff that I ordered and it’s straightforward to replace it. I was hoping to do some of the body repairs while I had the stuff out and better access but I couldn’t find some of the plastic sheets I’m pretty sure I have somewhere. Getting it rolling is the most important thing, making it pretty can come later. Knowing me though, the more I get done in this initial burst, the better. Could be years before I get back to it.

Because there is always something that moves to the top of the list, like HVAC at the rent house… or a storm damaged tree, or something.

Do what you can with what you have, when you are able. And stack.

    First post. Yeah!

Heater came on this morning. Smell from the dust burning off the burners. That “dust” is mostly dead human skin cells that have been shed over the summer.

last week’s grocery bill was over $150 for 2 people.

I’m impressed by the way that prices of almost everything I pay for go up faster than inflation, and have been for years. In particular, most taxes and government fees go up much faster than inflation.

farming and farm life is so hard and shitty that even people raised into the life abandoned it as fast as they could

Farming in medieval and early modern times was so hard and dangerous that young men would join mercenary companies because being a wandering soldier was easier.
