I don’t know how last night’s storm will play out, probably it will be clear but muggy today. It was mid 70sF and a little bit warmer most of yesterday, but overcast with occasional very light mist. Then the front crossed over about 11pm and the temperature dropped to mid 60sF. The rain shouldn’t last long, and I’m hoping for no precip today.
Mainly because the big job yesterday was having a tree company do some cleanup. They remediated the damage to the big tree in the front yard from the ‘derecho’ winds last year, and were supposed to do some cleanup and prevention in the pines that were struck by lightning a couple of weeks ago. They didn’t quite get done yesterday though so they need to come back today and finish. If it’s not raining and there isn’t any lightning.
While that work was going on, I continued on my office cleanup. I made some progress and you can actually see the floor in the office, and not just in narrow tracks to get to my safe and my desk.
Today I’ll start with my non-prepping hobby meeting, and then get back to work on the office and house cleanup. If it’s not raining, I might get to make some trips to the shop, and maybe take another load out of storage. That’s the very tentative plan.
Meanwhile the world turns and lots of things are in motion that probably won’t end well. Better to be ready, and for some, better to leave early than to leave too late.
Prep, stack, get your house in order.

The US mortgage rates have been distorted with printing press money. 6% is too low in the current inflation environment.
Trump does not want to be at the helm when mortgage rates revert to historical norms. Even 8.5%, where we bought our first house in Florida, would crater the real estate market in the US.
Suppressing rates will do nothing to make homes “affordable”, and neither will 50 year mortgages.
Used properly, Git provides every developer with a complete copy of the source code and commit history of a project in their local workspace. That approach has its pluses and minuses, but, since Git ate the world and Microsoft bought GitHub, no one really thinks about alternative approaches such as Subversion anymore.
The person pushing the reformat concept is one of the key system architects and has been around the project for at least a decade. I don’t think he’s pushing for more money or a higher title. Like many, he wants to believe that the AI is more than an elaborate finite state machine.
The company stock is back where it was at when the RSU grants were handed out in the Spring. I imagine that the individual in question receives stock grants annually.
Nothing sells except the AI servers, and the margins on those are thin, with Nvidia taking most of the money for the Monkey Trick.
The Trans Texas Corridor lives!
Making houses “affordable” again will require haircuts for many “owners”, and that is not politically palatable for either party.
In Texas, the bond ghouls feasting on massive property tax hikes at the local level would have cratered the real estate market years ago if the Legislature hadn’t come up with the “reform” program of using the local surplus to pay the property taxes. Now the economy of the state is permanently tied to keeping the plates spinning, even when the surplus starts to wane.
Up and headed to my meeting. We have an added complication this month of trying to find a new meeting place. We’ve been in our current one since the lockdowns started, and only got notice of potentially having to find a new space in December. This is our last meeting in this space, and IDK if the board found another yet. They hadn’t as of Wed.

20F this morning. Started the heater on low at midnight, 62F inside this morning, good enough.
The diesel truck heater works, btw, but there is a slight fuel leak underneath and I am unwilling to use it until I am sure I have it fixed.
The iPad upgraded to 26.2 overnight. I am underwhelmed, but it is not a big performance hit as it was on the old iPhone 11.
Local libraries sometimes have rooms that can be reserved. Also senior centers and the like.
Fraternal organizations are an option but they will want $$ to offset their costs (power&heating, cleaning, insurance and the like).
Seems I can’t keep dates straight this year.

Wrestling legend and ex-Minnesota Governor launches attack on ‘draft-dodging coward’ Trump over ICE killing
Talk about scraping the bottom of the barrel. Jesse “I’m a Real SEAL” has quite the crowd around him there. The camera and … nobody else? He hates the FUSA so much he moved to Mexico. I guess it didn’t work out with the cartels.
Orange Man Bad and so are the Redumblicans. That’s why the FUSA is in the toilet. Only he is right. Please crawl back to Mexico.
Ventura was an ineffective one term Governor who arguably paved the way for Trump but now is largely forgotten.
Another story which will play well in the cold, dark days in the UK.
The Mail loves its Schadenfreude as do the readers … at least until the “Paraverse” franchise returns to the air later this month.
Hopefully, Nick Shirley has hired security with his YouTube cash.
Whether or not it stops the investigations, Shirley is a marked man among the Somalis in this country.

Anyone remotely associated with Schwarzenegger in the minds of the public is done since “Screw your freedom”.

Another ineffective media star turned Governor.
Ventura’s greatest contribution was spiking the political career of Skip Humphrey.
But that win also resulted in the Minnesota Democrats total corruption of the voting process in the state so as never to get surprised again.
They should set Shirley up in a location with a platoon or so of heavily armed agents stashed around him, then leak the address. Have him far away when the bad boys come, close the trap, and if there is one ounce of resistance open fire and change magazines one more time after the red paste has stopped moving.
Home from my meeting. Went long and we’ve started planning for our event in August. We got a slight reprieve and can use the venue one last time next month.

The weather stayed cool, but did clear up. The sun even came out. Tree guys are still here, but they are just finishing up.
I’ll see what stuff I can do from my list, but first, some lunch.

No, I have no compassion remaining for activist communists.

If you get your wish for higher mortgage rates soon then the GOP is sunk in the November election this year.
If after this year but before 2029, the 2028 presidency will go to AOC or Newsom.
People vote their pocketbook, especially for the Presidential elections.
Trump knows this. He is more in tune with the common man than you and I are.

New Video From Before Shooting Destroys Another Left-Wing Narrative About Renee Good
https://pjmedia.com/matt-margolis/2026/01/10/new-video-before-shooting-destroys-another-left-wing-narrative-about-renee-good-n4948123
Contains embedded video from a second-floor vantage pointtaken from an angle of between the front of the Honda and the driver’s door. Adds about 2:50 to the beginning of the timeline.
The initial camera angle is pointed to the right toward some officers in the street, sweeping chaotically. A car horn starts at about 00:10, and eventually turns to the left and the Honda comes into view as the source of the horn. You can see motion by to driver, but “she dances away to her own horn blaring the whole time” is not clear and evidently based on other observations.
The most valuable addition to the narrative is the total negation of any claim that she was innocent, trapped, or trying to get away. She was having a great time with the horn, and there was nothing to keep her from truning right and leaving. For the first two minutes of the video there are multiple vehicles that passed right by her, clearly showing the wasy was open down the street out of frame.
At 02:12 the camera pans right and follows a vehicle pulling away from the curb and proceeding slowly down the street. The camera pans back and forth, following the vehicle, and as it points directly across the street another vehicle pulls out in front. During this time you can see three vehicle pass the Honda and move on–the street is open, and the Honda keeps honking.
At 2:33 Officer Ross’ vehicle is slowly passing behind the Honda. The camera pans right and loses sight of the Honda . When it returns at 02:44 Officer Ross is parked on the passenger’s side of the Honda and the car following him is just stopping on the driver’s side. A tree blocks the view of Officer Ross’ passenger door. The camera pans right again.
When the camera pans back Ms. Good is visible engaging with Officer good, Spouse Ms. Good enters the frame at 3:08 and engages with Officer Good as he continues around the back of the Honda. From 3:12 -3:20 the vehicle on the driver’s side starts forward and edges slowly past the Honda. Another vehicle also passes by, further showing that Ms. Good could have left. And n fact, from 03:14-17 the Honda moves forward 4-5 feet as Officer Good and Spouse Ms. Good come around the passenger side.
At 03:22 a vehicle with flashing lights pulls up on the driver’s side of the Honda, and both doors open. This is the point where the original first-released 37-second video starts.
This raises a question: There was obviously filming going on before that 37-second video started, and the clear implication is that whatever came before was edited out. Who did the editing? Who was filming? Was it someone in the neighborhood or part of the “activist/terrorist” group?
03:28-30 shows Spouse Ms. Good finishing the exchange we have seen in Officer Ross’ video, and turning toward the Honda. Officer Ross is partially behind the tree. At 03:31 Officer Ross is visible, the Honda is backing, and Officer Ross takes a step forward, maintaining a 3-4 foot distance from the Honda’s front bumper. End of video.
The takeaway here is that Officer Ross cellphone video pov made it look like he was right on the bumper when the Honda started forward. This video shows 3-4 feet of separation.
I have no sympathy for the dead anarchist/terrorist or her spouse*. I have some sympathy for the 6-year-old child who was enrolled in an anti-government indoctrination program–he has now lost both parents, but will hopefully find a new life and a school where he is not brainwashed. I hope the dog finds a better home.
*There will doubtless by claims of “she has suffered enough**, why prosecute her”.
Because it’s obvious that this whole thing was an intentional breaking of the law, planned to disrupt federal law enforcement, and considered quite the lark until the last few seconds.
Because Officer Ross only survived because the Honda spun it’s tires and his reflexes were quick.
Because we need a horrible example in addition to a justified shooting that can be claimed as “unjust”. Where the accessory/co-conspirator to attempted murder and the one that shouted “Drive, baby, drive” gets charged, taken to court, put through a public trial where the evidence is clearly presented and the record is transparent and unfiltered by sympathetic MSM propagandists, and a guilty verdict puts her in jail for decades where she pays for the crime according to the law.
**Note that these claims will come from people who have no sense of morals at all.
Additional observations from the video:
This raises a question: There was obviously filming going on before that 37-second video started, and the clear implication is that whatever came before was edited out.
At 02:00 there is a man with a dog on a leash stopped in a position consistent with he vantage point of the 37-second video. The video pans left and returns about 03:05, showing two more people walking up. One continues on (a woman?) while her companion tarries. He looks like he has his hands by his sides, whereas the first man looks like his right arm is bent at the elbow, consistent with cell phone video.
Earlier, at 3:00 it appears that a person on the sidewalk several doors down is approaching and may be filming. They pass out of frame as the camera pans left, then Spouse Ms. Good enters the frame at 3:08 in the street walking quickly toward Officer Ross.
It appears that there are at least two more pieces of video out there.
LLMs are more than elaborate finite state machines. They have random number generators, too.
Who ever would have thought that Hobby Horse demos and swap-meets would have been so popular in East Texas? Who ever would have thought that men in their fifties and sixties would be able to compete in the Hobby Horse Championship?
I understand and sympathise.
The last week-ish has been wretched. Very expensive and annoyingly time-consuming. Some of the annoyance has been unavoidable, such as my wife getting sick and really should be in the hospital for a few days except she can’t because she’s needed for her mother. The 24/7 aides are able to do basic care but can’t handle a lot of things that come up every day. I told my wife to see about a nurse coming in once or twice a day but nothing’s come of that yet. Other problems came from a parts distributor sending the wrong part, resulting in me having no car for most of a week instead of a day. Or from doing someone a minor favor which went wrong and ended up eating almost a full day. Nobody’s fault on that one, just something didn’t work as expected and I wasn’t going to just walk away halfway in.
With all the videos of the Good/ICE shooting, it was just a matter of time before someone combined all the videos together into a more complete look.
First one I saw was this one from CNN: https://www.cnn.com/2026/01/10/us/ice-shooting-minneapolis-renee-good
Not making any judgement on their analysis; just another data point. I image that there are other similar video analysis around there with different conclusions.

If you really want to split hairs, seeded pseudo-random number generators, the introduction of which vastly increases the number of possible states in the DFA but not to infinity.
Sure, CNN is always fair and balanced.
