Wed. Jan. 7, 2026 – more of the same, MORE I say!

By on January 7th, 2026 in culture, decline and fall, march to war

Cool and then warm, but should be clear and sunny. Really nice weather in general if a bit moist. I’ll take it over three feet of snow any day.

Spent the morning doing auction stuff. There’s a lot less that I am interested in coming through the auctions lately. Every seller I talk to has trouble getting good loads, so there is less good stuff being listed. That leads to competition for the good stuff, and prices being higher than I want to pay.

The afternoon was a couple of pickups, one for resale items, one for household stuff. Then I spent some time working at the shop to make room for the remainder of the stuff still in the last storage unit.

I made dinner after that, instead of working on my office some more. I don’t want to lose momentum, and all the stuff I’ve been sorting is out in the house, so I WILL be doing more on that front. Maybe today…

This morning I’ve got a few pickups, then a doctor appointment in the afternoon. That should give me some more time to poke at the office. Should.

And clearing it all up might make room for some of my other projects to move forward.

Can’t forget about stacking though. I still need a couple more bales of Charmin before this sale cycle ends. And some stuff from the grocery store to replace ‘breakage.’ Stacks take management.

But first you need the stuff. Stack it up.

Cybertruck: In Europe driving anything over a gross weight of 3.5 tons requires a special license. That means that Cybertruck and Hummer are both illegal in Europe. So is the Ford F-150 Lightning, the RAM 1500, the Silverado 1500, etc.

Rightly so, imho. There is just no reason for a private vehicle to mass that much.

um, ever see a commercial truck?

Commercial trucks require a commercial license, which at least ought to mean additional driver training.

Have I mentioned I HATE Windows? Had I been recovering a Linux machine, it would have taken me about 30 minutes from bare metal to a working system with all the applications I need, and the machine would have loaded its own bloody drivers without input from me. Grr.

This. Microsoft has done itself no favors with W10/W11.

And the newest? Apparently, you can no longer buy Office. Now you buy Copilot, and it comes with some appendages that used to be the Office apps. In other words, you will have Microsoft’s AI “helping” you, whether you want it or not.

Mind, I like AI, I use it daily. But an AI of my choice, used when and where I want it. Not integrated into everything, whether you want it or not.

Trump threatens to use US military to seize Greenland

    WTF is Trump smoking?

Denmark is a NATO member, an ally. If he actually tries to order a military attack against an ally, one of two things could happen:

    (1) General officers would be correct in refusing the order, since it would be blatantly illegal. This could and indeed must lead to Trump’s immediate removal from office by Congress.

    (2) If the military carries out the order – possible, because general officers are political creatures – this could start a war with the rest of NATO. The BRICS countries would be laughing, as the West totally destabilizes itself.

I became fond of Libre Office in grad school. That was among the first software to get installed on my new ThinkPad.

Windows wasn’t happy about Putty in particular.

One disturbing thing I’ve noticed with the OEM install from Lenovo is that the option to turn off Copilot in Settings→Taskbar is missing, as it is on my company issued laptop.

I figured that the missing option was part of my employer’s emphasis on the employees using AI since the servers provide vital cashflow, but all of the OEMs must be required to play along with Redmond.

I reached a point where I wiped the OEM Windows 10 install on my previous Thinkpad, but I haven’t seen anything that would motivate me to do that with the new machine.

Credit to Lenovo – they keep the cr*p to a minimum now, unlike some of the others.

I believe there is a registry hack to turn off Copilot, but I generally leave one or two machines plugged into the collective.

Resistance is not futile, but it is work.

Geesh, that episode of TNG aired over 35 years ago.

This is a good week to antagonize the US media, with the future of CNN in doubt, Paramount/CBS cleaning house, and the Comcast “news” networks (MSNBC, CNBC, NBC News) cast off into their own publicly traded company, Versant.

As for the UK, The Mail faces the return of “Death In Paradise” soon, with the series having just pulled strong ratings at Christmas and confirmation that Don Warrington will return as the Police Commissioner at the end of the special.

    – towing.   I have several times used the 10,000 pound tow capacity of my various expeditions.  And I’m just a guy.   I don’t move heavy equipment for my business.

Sure, most big pickup trucks are ‘cowboy cadillacs’ and never used to potential, but campers, stock trailers, and flatbed trailers can easily need the bigger tow vehicle.

Of course I don’t tow all the time. I am certainly not paying for a vehicle to just sit and be used exclusively for towing. Thus, I do use my “cowboy Cadillac” to get groceries, and lumber at Home Depot, move large bulky items.

There is an embedded 39-second video that shows a dark red SUV slewed crosswise across two lanes and agents approaching and ordering the driver out (00:07). About four seconds later (00:11) the SUV’s backup lights go on, it reverses about four feet, and then spins its tires as it accelerates forward. An officer fires three shots (last at 00:14). The SUV is out of frame when an impact is heard (00:18), and the camera pans to show the SUV has crashed into a telephone pole and possibly a parked car.

In the earlier post the FOX-9 reporter interviewing a neighborhood resident eyewitness looking out his window is told that the vehicle was not moving when the shots were fired. The reporter claims that this point is agreed upon by all the other people he has talked to. (Make sure to go back and look at that reporting from Fox-9. I would not be surprised if they try to memory-hole it soon.)

    So much for eyewitness testimony.

Throughout the video members of the crowd can be heard showing off the fluent language skills learned in the award-winning Minneapolis public schools.

The FBI needs to take over the investigation and freeze out the locals, who are scum from the mayor and police chief to the Soros-aligned county attorney and state AG.

And I’d suggest that the DOJ get the investigation of perjury and jury-rigging in the Chauvin case off the back burner and onto the front page. Local and state officials will try to pull the same shiite.

Today, ICE officers in Minneapolis were conducting targeted operations when rioters began blocking ICE officers and one of these violent rioters weaponized her vehicle, attempting to run over our law enforcement officers in an attempt to kill them—an act of domestic terrorism.

An ICE officer, fearing for his life, the lives of his fellow law enforcement and the safety of the public, fired defensive shots.

He used his training and saved his own life and that of his fellow officers.

The alleged perpetrator was hit and is deceased. The ICE officers who were hurt are expected to make full recoveries.

This is the direct consequence of constant attacks and demonization of our officers by sanctuary politicians who fuel and encourage rampant assaults on our law enforcement who are facing 1,300% increase in assaults against them and an 8,000% increase in death threats.

This is an evolving situation, and we will give the public more information as soon as it becomes available.

Yes, there is.  The 4×4 system on my 2019 Ford F-150 adds 300 lbs to the vehicle for a total of 6,500 lbs before fuel (36 gallons) and fluids.  The payload is around 2,000 lbs and the towing capability is 13,000 lbs.

I have not towed anything last year or this year so far but I have towed a 5,000 lb trailer several times.  That boom lift needs to weigh that much for my safety when I have it extended to the full 35 feet while working on something above my head.

        https://winsim.com/truck_and_boom_lift.jpg

        https://winsim.com/lynn_replacing_warehouse_top_light.jpg

And the truck needs to weigh more than the trailer for safety sake unless you have a special braking system that only comes on one ton diesel dually trucks.  I have learned that the hard way.

Watch: Comer, Luna Reveal Deep Trouble Ahead for Walz and Ellison During Wild MN Fraud Oversight Hearing

Based on testimony today, I have enough evidence to believe both [MN Gov Tim Walz] and [MN AG Keith Ellison] were knowingly complicit in a Somali fraud scheme in Minnesota. Therefore I have referred them BOTH to the DOJ for criminal charges. May justice be swift. The American people are tired of being taken advantage of.

Too much to hope that Walz would not only get convicted but sent to the same prison where Chauvin was nearly murdered.

    Let’s expand the earlier description:

Two-ton SUV backs up to get a running start

–Tires are turned to the driver’s left. They straighten, aiming the vehicle directly at the officer.

then driver floors it with tires spinning.

The SUV didn’t appear to turn [to the until the first round was fired.

Officer’s weapon clear holster at 00:07, is aimed at 00:09. SUV is clearly moving straight forward at 00:10, is turning slightly at 00:11. Officer fires weapon at 00:12/13. He is moving driver’s left/his right. Second and third shots fired 00:14/15

Watch the slow-motion video–the officer was moving to his right trying to get out of the way as he fired.

The officer was aiming his weapon. He could not see wheels turning, and his own movement precluded any assessment of any steering by the SUV.

    The SUV still clipped him.

    ADW. Clear self-defense.

We have multiple videos that will be used to reconstruct movement down to the millisecond, but we already have a thousand times more information to make a judgement than a jury would have had just a few years ago.

We also have the false initial claims by multiple witnesses that the officer shot at a car that was not moving. Video shows otherwise, folks. Were you making it up, seeing what you wanted to see, or flat-out lying?

Democrats who have been Naziing, Gestapoing, and Hitlering at every opportunity for weeks are flapping their sphincters for the cameras as hard as they can. They’ve embraced the alien invasion of our country, protected the invaders no matter what heinous crimes they commit, covered up theft of taxpayer money  which may total $20 billion dollars in Minnesota alone, and tried to norm this “resistance” garbage where unhinged PLT’s think interfering with armed law enforcement is some perverted “right”.

In a sane world that would be incitement to riot. They’ve called less more.

        https://thelibertydaily.com/trump-demands-record-1-5-trillion-defense-spending/

“(DCNF)—President Donald Trump on Wednesday called for the U.S. defense budget to be increased to $1.5 trillion in fiscal year 2027 to build what he described as a “Dream Military.””

“The proposed figure, if enacted, would far exceed the roughly $900 billion defense bill Congress approved in late December and would represent the largest defense appropriation in U.S. history. The president’s comments come after the U.S. carried out a military operation in Venezuela that captured former dictator Nicolás Maduro, and in the midst of his renewed push to acquire Greenland, possibly through the use of the military.”

    WOW !

An automobile is a 3,000 pound bullet, and aiming one at a person is attempted murder. Aiming one at a police officer is COMPLETE justification for shooting. This was an entirely righteous shoot, and with any luck, police forces around the country will follow the same pattern.

    The Insurrection Proclamation

Great article.  I suspect that it is true as it does make sense.  If so, Trump may be able to head off the oncoming Civil War 2.0 in the USA.  Maybe.

You know, in this iteration as President, Trump has really really really good lawyers.  He did not have good lawyers in his first stint as Prez.  I guess he learned a lot and thought a lot with his four year … downtime.

One hopes that if he gets the opportunity to nominate a few more judges on SCOTUS and elsewhere, that he would consult these new lawyers of his for a few good names.

NO it is not domestic terrorism.  Assault yes, terrorism no.    Escalation of charges and blurring of definitions so they can stretch to fit any crime is wrong.   Too many bullshite  overly specific crimes already exist.

I’m normally a pretty black-and-white guy, but I can see some nuance here.

One (FEMA) definition of terrorism is:

Terrorism is the use of force or violence against persons or property in violation of
the criminal laws of the United States for purposes of intimidation, coercion, or
    ransom

On the one hand, I am stridently against stupid enhancement charges like assault on a postal worker being different than assault on an average joe, or use of a gun somehow being worse than use of a club, knife, or brick.

On the other hand, terrorism is a distinct crime separate from the assault.  Being part of an organized movement against America,  the target of the intimidation is Americans, the rule of law,  and our delegated law enforcement.  And apparently this “lady” was one of the leaders of a conspiracy of intimidation.

So in this case, the proximate crime was participating in violent protests to intimidate, followed by the specific crime of assault with a deadly (vehicular) weapon.

From the facts we have at this time, every one of those witnesses who testified the cop shot through the side window of a stopped car should be charged with accessory after the fact, and conspiracy to commit murder.

Mass, and that is a lot of mass, has a quality and a quantity all of its own.  And that Honda Pilot weighs at least 4,000 lbs, probably 4,500 lbs.

Well…if the victim had calmly followed the police officer’s instructions it’s likely the “victim” would be home with her family rather than in the morgue.

And we could go back to watching HGTV!

    https://www.fox9.com/news/some-ice-agents-wear-body-cameras-but-not-everywhere

ICE issued updated policy on Body Worn Cameras for agents earlier this year after President Trump took office.

The policy makes clear that cameras have not yet been issued across the country. Cameras were first distributed to agents in select cities beginning in 2024.

Minneapolis was not one of the first cities to receive cameras, but ICE agents from across the country have been assigned here in recent weeks. The Department of Homeland Security has not stated whether the ICE agent involved in a fatal shooting Wednesday morning was wearing a body-worn camera.

Yep, called mucosa; varieties include oral, vaginal and intestinal. Possibly others, but the important thing is, if anyone wants a custom vagina built, there is a source of the correct tissue available not far off. I’ll leave that to your imagination.

    – most of the bodycam footage I’ve watched that involved shooting is of the officer’s arms and hands and elbows.   Hard to see what is going on beyond that.
