Cool but maybe not cold. Yesterday was partly cloudy, partly sunny, mostly depending on what part of town you were in. At my house, we got some very light misty drizzle at around dusk. Nothing more, but I did empty the back of the pickup to be sure.
I did all my pickups. Lots of driving, but I got everything but one done. Didn’t get to the shop to get D1 her welding helmet. She’s not supposed to need one, but having your own is always nice. I did get the sleeves, gloves, and beanie that I bought for her. They are all medium sized and should fit better than whatever the class is using. W says the class will have all the gear sized for girls as it’s a girls welding class… I guess we’ll see.
Today while the kid is doing that, the other one has a competition to attend, starting with dropoff at school at 7am. That’ll be W’s job. I’ll be catching a bit of sleep before starting my hectic morning. We’ve got a whole committee of volunteer hosts for today’s potluck and gift exchange, but I’ve still got plenty to do. And start time for setup is 11am.
The festivities should take me through to evening, late afternoon at least. Then it’s home to clean up and set up the tree. Dunno why we’re so late this year, but I suspect having the room full of my stuff has contributed. All the rooms are full of my stuff to some degree. I am working on that.
No auctions won last night, so I’ll have a pause in pickups. That’s a good thing.
Later today I might have time to look through the freeze dried buckets and see what I got for my $6. Mostly breakfast cereal and side dishes if my guess is correct. I get the feeling that Wise is better than some of the “emergency food bucket” sellers, but not as good as Auguson or Mountain House. The pre-packaged buckets are not what they suggest they are… you will need a lot of additional protein.
So stack some. Use the FDs as supplemental, or really ‘just in case’ and stack real food. Keeping in mind, something is better than nothing. And even overpriced, under calorie’d buckets are better than hunger.

Didn’t work, lazy boy.
My vote for the Orange Man came down to one promise.
Rule of Acquisition 125.
“I’ll tell you one thing, nephew. If the Federation had listened to the Ferengi Alliance there never would have been a war.”
“Because we would have surrendered a long time ago.”
“No, we would have reached an accommodation. We would have sat across the negotiation table and hammered out a peace treaty. One that both sides could live with.”
“You make it sound so simple.”
“Rule of Acquisition 125. You can’t make a deal if you’re dead.”
Stop Der Fuhrer in Ukraine. We will figure out the rest eventually.
Talk about the previous president too if you are so darn enlightened. No? Thought so.
Gas price data point: I paid $2.859 yesterday at Costco (premium). Regular was $2.349.
Up and moving.
D1 had to drive D2 to school this morning as penance for missing her curfew time. Her “our dates were canceled, we’ll just hang out at [primary friend’s] house” quickly morphed to “hey we got invited to a party, can we go?” Yes, you can go but you have to be home on time. Well… 20 minutes late. Friend didn’t want to stop talking to boys and leave on time. At least that’s the story they’re sticking to.
I’ll be headed to my party setup before D1 heads to her “girls welding class”. One of the dad’s in the neighborhood hosts the class. He apparently does a free class to troll for students.
Now it’s time for coffee and breakfast, then the whirlwind starts.

(I didn’t have the $140 Jimmy Swaggart LP, but the first early Elvis I checked had a sold at $84… If I actually list the dang things, I should have a really good score with what looked like a really cr@p lot.)
Is anyone interested in a free one-month subscription to Lunduke Journal on Substack? I have five to give away. If yes, email me at steven dot furlong at gmail
Who are the studio musicians on the Swaggart albums?
Swaggart had ties to Sun in Memphis through his cousin, Jerry Lee Lewis.
Sun’s “Million Dollar Quartet” session album is loaded with gospel influence.
Lunduke is depresssing to watch, I can only take a little…
Quick! When and where is the CFP championship game this year?

My Kindle Fire has decided the setting are incorrect for e-mail. IMAP. Funny, they were fine a couple of days ago. T-bird on my PC is popping along normally. IMAP on my phone still works.
I guess I’ll delete the account and try again. PITA.
Speaking of PITAs. I washed the new curtains. It looks like most of the wrinkles are gone. One pair is ¾ of an inch longer. I have it sorted out. I should have tagged the pairs…. sharpie on the care tag.

Who is Der Fuhrer ? Zelensky or Putin ?
I just cleaned the chicken coop, pulling out the straw which wasn’t as clean as it was when I put it in. I scattered it on the cardboard on the patio, figuring that it would make another layer of insulation between layers of cardboard. But before I was able to lay down the cardboard, the hens ran over and started scratching at the dirty straw, looking for treasure. One started it but within moments all of the others joined her, afraid of missing out on getting The Treasure.
Sometimesonce in a whilefrom time to timealmost always I think that chickens are dumb.Zelensky.
Putin has 4000 (?) nuclear weapons. Rule 125.
Whose tanks are in whose country?
If you have 3X the population, 10X the tanks, 10X the GDP, 30X the area, 4,000:0 nuclear weapons ratio, and you invade your small neighbor again … you’re probably the bad guy.
All of which is well-known, making 50 years of infrastructure dismantlement look like a long-term plan to weaken the EU and make it easy pickings for the Sovs.
Now add unrestricted immigration from craphole countries, and a judicial system that strips the native population of their rights.
Wow, it does look like a plan. Just fund the anti nukes and the greenies so that their ranks grow, peace at all costs, and you have a weakened Europe. Was this really a plan ?
And the Russkies did it in the USA also.
Trumphitler, duh.
Trumphitler, duh.
Yup. The only one without a dog in this fight.

Holly Hunter’s accent really grates. Maybe they should have taken a cue from “The Piano”.

Bakula’s accent was bad in “NCIS New Orleans” at first, but either he figured it out or the showrunners did. I’m guessing the former.
We did it to ourselves in the USA.

It is not that simple. Putin considers Ukraine to be an extension of Germany. He is not wrong.
We will be lucky if Europe gets out of this without a few nukes flying in the air and making really big booms. Europe avoided the nukes in WW II. It may not be that lucky this time.
“Democrats Are Behind Your Crippling Electricity Bills, Report Confirms”
https://wattsupwiththat.com/2025/12/12/democrats-are-behind-your-crippling-electricity-bills-report-confirms/
“The new report, first provided to the Daily Caller News Foundation, found that blue states generally have higher electricity costs than red states. Titled “Blue States, High Rates. Electricity Prices: Elections Have Consequences,” IER’s report notes that all but one of the top 10 most expensive states for energy — measured by cost per kilowatt hour — are governed by Democrats.”
The socialists are going to do us in unless we do them in first.
>>At least that’s the story they’re sticking to.
The problem with ‘tall tales’ is you always have to remember what your version of the “truth” is.
There’s no need to go to scribd and put up with their b.s. to download the report from IER. It’s here on their website:
https://www.instituteforenergyresearch.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Blue-States-High-Rates.pdf
It would have been enlightening to show the mix of generating sources in each state and how the cost is directly driven by the extent to which green weinieism his shut off perfectly good sources and replaced them with the always uneconomical wind and solar boondoggles.
I wasn’t trying this morning, as I was on the road well before Nick’s Saturday post dropped.
A long day, but spent in the company of friends, so that was nice.
Bedtime here. G’night, JimBob!
The State of Oregon used to report the electricity consumption and sources in real time, but the figures about the percentage of the population’s power usage originating in British Columbia coal power plants got too embarrassing for the “green” politicians.
Hunter’s lisp has always made me dislike her performances. Rumor has it sets are being taken down for either storage or the series is DOA.
It’s great to see Starfleet Academy is churning out fat black tranny’s and, uh, fat black, half-breed Jem’hadar. The Academy cafeteria must be fabulous.
Yeah, “did not procreate naturally”, except in the woke Star Trek Universe where they can grow a penis and produce sperm to have sex with female Klingons and give birth. How does that work? I can’t wait for the writers to answer that one.
Perhaps not the ideal way to rid Europe of the moslims. But whatever works…..
Nah. Ain’t buying it. From a baby to full grown man in three days? Nope. Maybe maybe three years. More like ten years a the very minimum.
I actually paid this guy for a year. So I get five “free to me” one month subscriptions to give away.
https://ekolovesyou.com/
It’s on Substack. You don’t need an app, a web browser is just fine.
I like his story telling. I don’t find him preachy. You can read a lot of his stuff for free. I liked what I’ve read enough that I paid for a year. Yep, no shi(r)t me, Mr. Scrooge McEconomical.
So. Go look.
As a bonus of subscribing, I get five FREE (to me) 1-month gift subscriptions. Which unlocks everything. For a month.
Hint: Saving as a web page doesn’t work for me on Substack. But Firefox can print to PDF no problem.
So if interested, let me know. First come, first served.

You’re okay with warp speed, transporters, time travel and fertility between alien species in general, but your suspension of belief falters on accelerated growth of cannon fodder?
There’s an “unskilled labor” joke in there somewhere.
Yep.
I have noticed that the half breeds are Vulcan or Klingon or Bajoran or Cardasian or whatever on human females. I can’t think of a human male on whatever having children.
Oh. DS9 and Tom and what’s her name, half klingon and half human, had a baby.
Now that’s just mean, talking about friends to SteveF.
It’s nearly Christmas, lets all be nice here.
It turned out to be a very nice day. I planned to grill some chicken on the pellet grill. And, I don’t know, but about 1PM I decided nope. Not in the mood.
So tonight’s supper is going to be a peanut butter sandwich. Maybe. Probably not. I’m not hungry.
I lost my appetite watching that Starfleet Academy clip, too. Better than losing my lunch, I guess.
The “Lower Decks” finale established the “Discovery” storytelling universe as an alternate reality and non-canon.
Well, party went off without a hitch. Except by me. I forgot to check on the ham, and it never got put in the oven to warm up. I went to take it out and it wasn’t there. Cold honeybaked ham is still very good ham.
Slightly smaller group than last couple of years, but still a convivial gathering.
Keurig machine was a hit. I’ve got a lot of soda left over this year. It’ll end up in ma’ belly.
Gift exchange was funny and good entertainment. And W ended up with a good gift.
I left the pie for W to bring and she forgot, so we’ll find out what apple caramel walnut tastes like on our own. I may start by freezing half…
I even have leftovers to eat this year, so that’s a plus.
D1 is still working her shift at the mall so IDK how her welding class went. D2 advanced one level, but then stalled at her thing today. All my hobby buddies wanted to know where the girls were. They have been at the Christmas parties most years. Nice to know that people like my kids and enjoy having them at events.
Now, I might be hungry enough to have more ham.

Why Aren’t Polar Bears Going Extinct Like the “Experts” Said They Would?
The new excuse is that the polar bears have a special ability to evolve:
The old excuse was that numbers keep going up because the bear population is better surveilled. That is at least partially true, but ignores the fact that the pointy-haired scientists came up with their defective numbers that contradicted what the native Inuits, who have lived with the bears for centuries, knew to be true, and that they used the defective numbers to spin a declining population crisis to make the polar bears the face of the global warming scam and, just incidentally, getting them tons of additional grant money.
And we’re supposed to overlook that two of the leading scientists in the field who refused to go along with the crisis story–Susan Crockford and Mitchell Taylor–were targeted by the global warming zealot mob, marginalized, disinvited from conferences, and forced out of positions in an effort to minimalize the visibility of their dissent.
The U.S. spends in the neighborhood of $30 billion per year supporting the global warming zealots. The main product is failed pronouncements of doom from the likes of Mikey “Hockey Schtick” Mann and other pigs at the federal grant trough with no return to the public. Zeroing out those grants would be a public service.
Who on earth downvoted Denis’s 17:54 comment? Denis may be a pathetic fraud of an early bird but there was nothing objectionable in his message.
Nah. I don’t have friends because I don’t want them. I used to have friends and, after a cold-blooded examination of the previous ten years, determined that they were a net negative in my life.
(Ask me about marriage. If not for the urge to have children, I absolutely would not recommend, in today’s Western environment.) (That is, I would recommend that men stay away from marriage as a bad deal. It’s a good deal for women.)
It’s a good deal for women.
– just look a the list of the ten richest women in America. Most if not all got there by marriage, although a couple inherited.

Deanna Troi’s mother was Betazed. Her father was human.
Oprah Winfrey, one of the Jenners or Kardashians, and JK Rowling became billionaires own their own merits (though the Jenner or Kardashian certainly got a leg up from the family wealth and notoriety). Note that two got their wealth from entertainment and the third from selling goods at a high markup based on her name; there’s a term for that which is escaping me on account of I’m tired – worked until my brain started shutting down, then came here to share the non-functioning brain with y’all, because I’m a giving kind of guy.
Anyway, other than those three, I don’t think any female billionaires got it other than through inheritance or marriage. I think the same goes for female hectomillionaires (not “centimillionaires” – that degree of wealth is not at all noteworthy, especially given the ever-shrinking dollar).
