Cold.\u00a0 Not as damp as normal.\u00a0\u00a0 39F when I went to bed.\u00a0\u00a0 That’s pretty chilly by our standards.\u00a0\u00a0 I expect it to be\u00a0 clear and cold all day.<\/p>\n
As it was yesterday, when I looked out the windows.\u00a0 That was about the extent of my activity.\u00a0 Once D1 got home, we all pretty much sat in the living room and watched ‘Alone’.\u00a0 Second season, just as compelling as the first.\u00a0\u00a0 About half the participants were involved in survival training, bushcraft, or primitive living skills, and they all went home early, with one exception.\u00a0\u00a0 Classroom skills, and hobby activities do not translate into survival in the bush, alone, for weeks or months.\u00a0\u00a0 Mental toughness, flexibility, stubbornness, and spiritual and mental depth seem to be far more important than specific skills.<\/p>\n
There are lessons there for anyone, but especially for anyone who thinks that if SHTF they’ll live off the land, or bug out to a national forest and bushcraft a new life.\u00a0 Nope, chances are really good that those people will be cannibal, criminal, or dead within two weeks.<\/p>\n
Other than the time sink, I recommend streaming the Alone series.\u00a0 You will learn something.<\/p>\n
Today it’s back to reality, back to life.\u00a0 Lots to do, especially after spending a couple days on vacation.<\/p>\n
So I better get busy this morning.<\/p>\n
