Oct. 4, 2022- holes are being dug, site  is being prepared&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Another cool morning followed by hot afternoon, and cool evening.\u00a0 Definitely Fall north of Houston.<\/p>\n<p>Started yesterday about an hour earlier than planned, but on the other hand, they didn&#8217;t need me to move most of the stuff I was planning to move.\u00a0 The holes confirm that the old foundation repair was doomed to fail from the beginning.\u00a0 \u00a0No soil to bear on under the down hill side of the house.\u00a0 Sand, and silt.\u00a0 Good thing these helical piles don&#8217;t care&#8230;\u00a0 They are due back here today at 7am and hope to finish the digging today.<\/p>\n<p>Lake was down even more.\u00a0 \u00a0This would be a good time to work on the rotten support pilings for the dock as most of them are out of the water now.\u00a0 \u00a0Too bad I&#8217;ve got other fish to fry.<\/p>\n<p>Skeeters are out in force.\u00a0 \u00a0They don&#8217;t usually bite me, and if they do it doesn&#8217;t raise a welt, but the buzzing in my ear drives me mad, and I can feel them on my skin.\u00a0 \u00a0This is the first visit where they were really noticeable and for some reason the house is full of them.<\/p>\n<p>Asked one of the neighbors that&#8217;s been up here a long time what fruit trees he thought would be hardy and would grow well, he suggested peach and plum.\u00a0 Said that apples didn&#8217;t do well.\u00a0 I already have a persimmon tree.\u00a0 Can&#8217;t remember if I&#8217;d mentioned that.\u00a0 Fruit is delicious and sweet.\u00a0 \u00a0Big seed though.\u00a0 I can&#8217;t recall ever eating a persimmon before.<\/p>\n<p>Didn&#8217;t see any animals last night, but there were lots of raccoon and deer tracks in the mud along the shoreline.\u00a0 DID see a big snake in the water as I was packing up my radio&#8230;\u00a0 \u00a0since he was under the water and still, I&#8217;m guessing &#8216;Plain-bellied Water Snake&#8217; based on color.\u00a0 \u00a0Hard to tell at a distance though.\u00a0 I do not care for snakes, especially ones that lurk.\u00a0 \u00a0It&#8217;s country out here.<\/p>\n<p>Stacking up good will and ties to the community this week.\u00a0 Knowledge too.\u00a0 \u00a0Stack something good.<\/p>\n<p>nick<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Another cool morning followed by hot afternoon, and cool evening.\u00a0 Definitely Fall north of Houston.<\/p>\n<p>Started yesterday about an hour earlier than planned, but on the other hand, they didn&#8217;t need me to move most of the stuff I was planning to move.\u00a0 The holes confirm that the old foundation repair was doomed to fail from the beginning.\u00a0 \u00a0No soil to bear on under the down hill side of the house.\u00a0 Sand, and silt.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ttgnet.com\/journal\/2022\/10\/04\/tues-oct-4-2022-holes-are-being-dug-site-is-being-prepared\/\">&nbsp;&raquo;&nbsp;Read more about: Tues.
