I did get some things done locally when my plan to go out to my client’s house fell apart.\u00a0 Spent some time with one of my local auctioneers.\u00a0\u00a0 Picked up my unsold items. \u00a0 Chatted a while.\u00a0 His wife has recovered from the wuflu.\u00a0 Some residual coughing, but she never lost smell or taste.<\/p>\n
Did some small cleaning and maintenance stuff around the house.<\/p>\n
Picked up D1 and completely failed to spend time together for reasons involving stuff I’m too angry about to discuss.<\/p>\n
Dinner included chopped cabbage, sauteed in bacon fat with sweet onion as a nod to my ancestors from the Baltic region.\u00a0\u00a0 Good peasant food, re-imagined.\u00a0 Well, not boiled anyway.\u00a0\u00a0 Cabbages, potatoes, carrots, onions, and apples are staples for good reasons.\u00a0\u00a0 They are relatively easy to grow, they store over the winter, and they have plenty of nutrition in them.\u00a0\u00a0 They are also easy to cook, just boil or eat most of them raw.\u00a0 They CAN be prepared other, far more tasty ways though.\u00a0 “Modern” cookery ignores the traditional staples in favor of exotic imports.\u00a0 That’s a luxury we may\u00a0 not have in days to come.\u00a0 Take a new look at some recipe books.\u00a0 Try some new\/old things.\u00a0 Plan your garden around traditional staples.<\/p>\n
Plan for today…. nope.\u00a0 Not gonna say it out loud.\u00a0 One less chance for the universe to mess me about.\u00a0 It does involve auction stuff and moving stuff around in storage units.\u00a0 And maybe picking up a check.<\/p>\n
Do what you can with what you have, where you are.\u00a0 Smarter people than me have said similar.\u00a0 It looks like good advice to me.<\/p>\n
And stack up all the things.\u00a0 If it’s critical for you, you probably need more of it.<\/p>\n
