Jan. 17, 2021 &#8211; working the plan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> Cold and clear today, same as yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>34F when I went to bed, supposed to be LOW of 36F according to the weather liars.<\/p>\n<p>Did my stuff yesterday, got most of it done.\u00a0 The big disappointment was the sump pump battery backup.\u00a0 No battery.\u00a0 Still, I&#8217;ve got batteries and the rest is ok.<\/p>\n<p>Today the family is driving 3 hours north to look at some property on a lake.\u00a0 I really like the looks of the property, wooded, two lots totaling 11 acres (one on the lake, one behind that lot) right up close to a national forest.\u00a0 The house is really odd, and the lake has some restrictions that my wife doesn&#8217;t love.\u00a0 The question is, bug out location or vacation lake house?\u00a0 Which is primary?\u00a0 We&#8217;ll see.\u00a0 Events elsewhere may push my wife more toward BOL.<\/p>\n<p>I don&#8217;t know what&#8217;s happening in DC but it&#8217;s got the whole country nervous as hell.\u00a0 At least the half that pays attention.\u00a0 LOTS of people are paying a whole lot more attention now.\u00a0 Several people on my rounds today were watching carefully and there is a lot of head shaking once you engage with them.<\/p>\n<p>And that&#8217;s just one reason why KNOWING where you can go if you have to go is essential.\u00a0 Currently, I don&#8217;t plan to leave, and that&#8217;s mostly because I don&#8217;t have anywhere to go.\u00a0 It&#8217;s also because no matter what happens, Texas is probably a good place to be.\u00a0 I&#8217;m thinking Chicago, Baltimore, Philly, DC, all the usual suspects are NOT going to be good places to be.\u00a0 If you live in a sh!thole city, you might want to consider a plan that is just &#8220;that Bayfront motel at the intersection of x and y&#8221; in a small town 3 hours away, with a storage unit and some minimal sustainment supplies.\u00a0 That would be a huge step in the right direction.\u00a0 It might not hurt to have that storage unit in a company name, prepaid for a while, either.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, maybe working out a list of what I&#8217;d stash in the smallest available storage unit would be a good idea.\u00a0 You can fit a lot in 4 or 8 black tubs.<\/p>\n<p>Get to thinkin&#8217;.\u00a0\u00a0 Get to stackin&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>nick <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p> Cold and clear today, same as yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>34F when I went to bed, supposed to be LOW of 36F according to the weather liars.<\/p>\n<p>Did my stuff yesterday, got most of it done.\u00a0 The big disappointment was the sump pump battery backup.\u00a0 No battery.\u00a0 Still, I&#8217;ve got batteries and the rest is ok.<\/p>\n<p>Today the family is driving 3 hours north to look at some property on a lake.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ttgnet.com\/journal\/2021\/01\/17\/sun-jan-17-2021-working-the-plan\/\">&nbsp;&raquo;&nbsp;Read more about: Sun.
