Oct. 19, 2020 &#8211; first day of school"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> Cooler and humid.<\/p>\n<p>Yesterday got warm in the afternoon, and was crazy humid, but was very nice in the shade if you weren&#8217;t working too hard.<\/p>\n<p>I got a couple of things listed on craigslist and ebay.\u00a0 Sold one item.\u00a0 First sale in 90 days.\u00a0\u00a0 Spent a bunch of time doing some more Halloween decor and lighting.<\/p>\n<p>Did some small cleanup things.\u00a0 Found some missing items, and discovered some others need to be tracked down.\u00a0 Moving all my stuff around is messing with my sense of where stuff is.\u00a0 The flip side is I&#8217;m coming across stuff that has been tucked away for a while.\u00a0 Can&#8217;t sell it if you have stored it for later and have forgotten it was there.<\/p>\n<p>Spent a little time on the backup house search.<\/p>\n<p>Did some other auction stuff.\u00a0 Bought my wife a better xbox controller since she and the girls are playing games.\u00a0 A lot.\u00a0\u00a0 They did all get in the pool while I got dinner ready.\u00a0 Not too many days of pool use left without some sort of heater.<\/p>\n<p>Oldest daughter starts &#8216;in person learning&#8217; today.\u00a0 She&#8217;ll be riding the bus to her new school.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve decided to wear flannel jammies and slippers to take her to the bus.\u00a0 All the moms do it, and half wear yoga pants, not flannels&#8230;.\u00a0 I&#8217;m not quite insane enough to wear yoga pants.<\/p>\n<p>Wife is in the office MWF this week and I&#8217;m home with youngest daughter.\u00a0 She opted to continue virtual learning.\u00a0 She likes sitting alone in her work area.<\/p>\n<p>The tone of the school emails is shifting.\u00a0 Not so subtle hints that parents need to let the kids do the work.\u00a0 Threats that if the kids can&#8217;t follow the virtual rules they&#8217;ll be forced to return to in person classes.\u00a0 Threats that if the kids can&#8217;t follow the in person rules, they&#8217;ll be kicked out for being &#8216;health risks&#8217;.\u00a0 Lots of rules about verifying attendance.\u00a0 No butt in seat = no payday for the district.\u00a0 Lots of emphasis on &#8216;butt in seat&#8217; time.\u00a0 In other words, they had a chance to remake education, and they&#8217;re blowing it.<\/p>\n<p>Lots of things are going to\u00a0 be re-made after the crash.\u00a0 They&#8217;ll be made in the shadow of what was, and shabbier.\u00a0 Thus begins a dark age&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Or not.\u00a0 We are clever monkeys well motivated to survive.\u00a0 Just because it&#8217;s happened before, doesn&#8217;t mean it will happen the same way this time.\u00a0 &#8216;Course, in September of last year, if someone just laid out the facts of our current situation, would you have believed it was possible?<\/p>\n<p>Keep stacking.\u00a0 Keep learning.\u00a0 Keep testing your assumptions.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>n <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p> Cooler and humid.<\/p>\n<p>Yesterday got warm in the afternoon, and was crazy humid, but was very nice in the shade if you weren&#8217;t working too hard.<\/p>\n<p>I got a couple of things listed on craigslist and ebay.\u00a0 Sold one item.\u00a0 First sale in 90 days.\u00a0\u00a0 Spent a bunch of time doing some more Halloween decor and lighting.<\/p>\n<p>Did some small cleanup things.\u00a0 Found some missing items, and discovered some others need to be tracked down.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ttgnet.com\/journal\/2020\/10\/19\/mon-oct-19-2020-first-day-of-school\/\">&nbsp;&raquo;&nbsp;Read more about: Mon.
