Oct. 10, 2020 &#8211; so much stuff to do"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> Humid and warm.\u00a0 Some wind.\u00a0 Probably.<\/p>\n<p>It was very pleasant Friday, if windy and overcast.<\/p>\n<p>I did get a few things done, but mostly it was a day of <em>domestic bliss<\/em>.\u00a0 Make breakfast for 3, one after the other, lunch for 2, separately, then dinner for all of us.\u00a0 That takes a surprising amount of time.\u00a0 A bit of cleaning, mostly with the leaf blower, and picking up stuff.\u00a0\u00a0 I went through some more ebay and auction stuff.\u00a0 Did some very minor stuff in the garage, and did a bit more decorating.\u00a0 Lots of time got eaten with real estate research &#8211; driven by my wife&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>The roofer confirmed Monday and Tuesday, so I have to get the antennas down today or tomorrow.\u00a0 Late Sunday I&#8217;ll have to move some of the Halloween decorations too.<\/p>\n<p>I looked at all the garden beds.\u00a0 The beets might be starting.\u00a0 The peas are coming in, but only a few plants.\u00a0 Nothing else sprouted.\u00a0\u00a0 The citrus is starting to get close.\u00a0\u00a0 I will recheck the timing, but if I don&#8217;t see sprouts soon, I&#8217;ll open a new packet of seeds, and try again.\u00a0 It&#8217;ll have to be soon though.<\/p>\n<p>One thing I did mostly for fun was to take apart the slow cooker and see if I could find the fault.\u00a0 I did, the thermal cutoff switch has failed.\u00a0 It&#8217;s a\u00a0 $2 part if you can wait for it to come from china.\u00a0 I have\u00a0 a whole bin of salvaged ones, but they may have a different temp rating.\u00a0 I&#8217;ll check them out in a day or two.\u00a0 The control board also had two swollen capacitors.\u00a0\u00a0 If I have the temp switch, I&#8217;ll probably change the caps too.\u00a0 Then it will be back in service.\u00a0\u00a0 They are not super expensive, and real Croc-pot cookers come up in the auctions and at goodwill all the time, but I do like fixing things and it&#8217;s good practice.\u00a0 It&#8217;s also a quick fix.\u00a0 The longest time would be spent replacing the caps, second longest was taking out all the screws.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;make it do&#8221; is part of my ethos, as is fixing stuff, and I learn a lot whenever I fix something.\u00a0\u00a0 Valuable skills if things go south, valuable in any case even now.<\/p>\n<p>Fix something.\u00a0 Get something old working again.\u00a0 Conserve something.\u00a0 And stack what you can.<\/p>\n<p>nick <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p> Humid and warm.\u00a0 Some wind.\u00a0 Probably.<\/p>\n<p>It was very pleasant Friday, if windy and overcast.<\/p>\n<p>I did get a few things done, but mostly it was a day of <em>domestic bliss<\/em>.\u00a0 Make breakfast for 3, one after the other, lunch for 2, separately, then dinner for all of us.\u00a0 That takes a surprising amount of time.\u00a0 A bit of cleaning, mostly with the leaf blower, and picking up stuff.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ttgnet.com\/journal\/2020\/10\/10\/sat-oct-10-2020-so-much-stuff-to-do\/\">&nbsp;&raquo;&nbsp;Read more about: Sat.
