July 23, 2020 &#8211; &#8220;I fell in love with her ______ ______&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> Hot and raining, at some point today.\u00a0 Hot now.<\/p>\n<p>Yesterday was both too&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>I did my auction pickup, and arranged for my auction drop off next Monday.\u00a0 That&#8217;s a delay in when I wanted to get the stuff out of my place, but it works better for the auctioneer.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve got more auction pickups today.\u00a0 One of them is another fridge, that can be set so that top and bottom can be either fridge or freezer.\u00a0 Pretty cool.\u00a0 Might flip it.\u00a0 Might keep it.\u00a0 Haven&#8217;t decided.\u00a0 Seems a bit like overkill.\u00a0 But since there is no such thing*&#8230; I must be wrong.<\/p>\n<p>Hurricane season is (maybe) offering us a glimpse of the future.\u00a0 Gaylord or Gaspacho, or Gazprom, or something anyway is headed right for us.\u00a0 Supposed to just be a warm up storm.\u00a0 Just a bit of a reminder to replenish any supplies used up during the lockdown and top up the preps for the season.\u00a0 Just a warm up, the real storms are yet to come.<\/p>\n<p>Random thought, I miss having a calendar blotter on my desk.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve got a couple of sheets of paper that I jot notes on, but I just realized that what I really want is the blotter I used to have.\u00a0\u00a0 I miss my old paper schedulers too.\u00a0 I used to go through them every couple of years and remind myself what I accomplished.\u00a0 Just moving the birthdays and anniversaries to the next year&#8217;s book forced a review of the year.\u00a0 I spent some time going through my dad&#8217;s day books when I cleared out his desk.\u00a0 I really don&#8217;t think anyone will be sifting through my google calendar to get a feel for the beginning of my marriage, or the first few vacations with my wife and kids.\u00a0 I can&#8217;t imagine them sifting through terabytes of files named like img0056-2020-09-21-1941.jpg either.\u00a0 Most likely none of it will even be readable.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the march to war continues under the radar, until the smoke from burning espionage darkens the horizon.\u00a0 THEN it seems sudden and reckless.\u00a0\u00a0 We see only the fin, rarely the shark, sometimes only the ripples in the water.\u00a0 Sometimes we only feel the pressure wave as it passes by.\u00a0 And sometimes, you&#8217;re bleeding out from your stump.\u00a0 Bad times are coming.\u00a0 Moderately bad times are already here.<\/p>\n<p>Start building up your reserves.\u00a0 Of what?\u00a0 Everything.\u00a0 Patience and stamina most of all.<\/p>\n<p>Keep stacking.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>nick<\/p>\n<p>* <a href=\"https:\/\/schlockmercenary.fandom.com\/wiki\/The_Seventy_Maxims_of_Maximally_Effective_Mercenaries\">Maxim<\/a> 37.
