Yesterday was hot (104F in the sun in my driveway) but fairly comfortable if you just sat in the shade with the breeze.\u00a0 Not so comfortable if you were working outdoors.<\/p>\n
At swim practice I was chatting with a friend, one of the other dads, and the subject of security and sketchy neighbors came up.\u00a0 I gave him some advice on cameras and we talked about his new neighbors.\u00a0 Like mine, several unrelated or partially related groups living in the same house, making noise, disrupting the neighborhood.\u00a0 Like mine, also finding that intimidation doesn’t work, and the cops do come when we call for ‘nuisance’ complaints.\u00a0 And yes, we both plan to monitor and if necessary\u00a0 harass the renters until they decide to leave.\u00a0 Time for them to conform to and accommodate OUR cultural norms.<\/p>\n
Other places, like Atlanta and Seattle, are going to get a lesson in what happens when you abandon the rule of law.\u00a0 The good citizens will either leave, or they will take action.<\/p>\n
I mentioned to my wife that I thought we’d have Republic of Texas passports within ten years.\u00a0 She laughed and thought I was kidding.\u00a0 I’m not.\u00a0 I’ll even go so far as to say +5, -3 years as bounds.\u00a0 Ten years is a long time.\u00a0 Literally anything can happen.\u00a0 We won’t be the only breakaway either.<\/p>\n
We’re not going back to ‘normal’ either.<\/p>\n
Dinner was leftovers.\u00a0 Almost cleared the fridge.<\/p>\n
Gotta make room for more.\u00a0 More stuff, more skills, more connections.\u00a0 If you don’t recognize your City Councilperson\/Alderman\/etc and Mayor on sight, and know your local state and federal Representatives by name, you need to do some homework.\u00a0 Who is your Sheriff?\u00a0 Who is your Chief of Police?\u00a0 Do you have an opinion about their politics and competence in their jobs?\u00a0 Do you know your State DA?\u00a0 What about Attorney General?\u00a0 All politics is local, so start there.\u00a0 Vote in the mid term and off year elections.\u00a0 Talk to someone and find out which Judges to vote for or against.\u00a0 If you have kids, start paying attention to your school board.\u00a0 These are the politicians that will have the most impact on your life, and over whom you have the most control.\u00a0 Use it.<\/p>\n
And keep stacking, this is far from over.<\/p>\n
