May 4, 2020 &#8211; May the fourth be with you, alwathe&#8230;."},"content":{"rendered":"<p> Sunny and warm.<\/p>\n<p>It got pretty toasty yesterday.\u00a0 It was 90+ in the shade and there was sun.\u00a0 I mostly stayed under cover and in the house and garage.\u00a0 I did get stuff done.\u00a0 Could have been more, but progress is getting made.<\/p>\n<p>Garden is starting to get shoots.\u00a0\u00a0 Corn, and watermelon or zukes are poking through.\u00a0\u00a0 The potatoes continue to grow.\u00a0 I&#8217;m up to about 18-24&#8243; of tower bag now.\u00a0 I started with 3&#8243;.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve only got two bags of dirt left, so that will limit me on my total height.\u00a0 Unless I can get some bags delivered&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>I harvested 2 skinny stalks of broccoli and we ate it for dinner tonight.\u00a0 I got some nice sweet peppers too, off the old and new plants.\u00a0 That was the first edible broccoli in years of trying to grow the stuff.<\/p>\n<p>Something, rain or animal or insect, knocked all the beginning limes off my tree.\u00a0 They got to be marble sized, then they were laying on the ground.\u00a0 Dang it, I really like limes.<\/p>\n<p>Broke down the 9 pound pork loin from Costco.\u00a0 Made two ~3 pound roasts, and cut the rest into thick center cut\u00a0 chops.\u00a0\u00a0 Vac sealed and froze it.\u00a0 Until yesterday I didn&#8217;t have room in the freezer.<\/p>\n<p>Dinner tonight was one of the roasts, the two skinny stalks of broccoli, a couple of baked potatoes, apples diced and baked with bacon crumbles and maple syrup, and half a loaf of the Costco heat and eat shelf stable bread.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking of Costco, they start their new policies today.\u00a0 Everyone wears a mask, limited number of people in the store, etc.\u00a0 This is new though-<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Fresh meat purchases are temporarily limited to a total of 3 items per member among the beef, pork and poultry products.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>That sounds like 3 packages of meat protein per visit.\u00a0 Funny that lamb isn&#8217;t listed, nor are prepared products like sausage, or spiral sliced ham.\u00a0 I wonder how extensive the limits are?\u00a0 I&#8217;d buy beef if I could get a deal and had freezer space.<\/p>\n<p>This is far from over.\u00a0 Some areas are reporting increases in cases and deaths after slight decreases.\u00a0 Everywhere they stayed open, they have 15-20% cases.\u00a0 Expect to see more in 2 weeks&#8230;\u00a0\u00a0 The economic impact is really just starting too.\u00a0 Buffett sold out of all airline stocks.\u00a0 That seems like a no brainer, but it takes actually doing it, and at a loss, to drive the point home.\u00a0 Market disruption barely begins to describe our current situation.\u00a0 There will be opportunities, but I think it&#8217;s probably WAY to early to be making new investments.<\/p>\n<p>Keep your eyes open and stay centered so that you can more easily move in any direction.\u00a0 Keep stacking where you can, including knowledge and skills.\u00a0 And stay in to stay safe.\u00a0\u00a0 Let the other guys figure out if it&#8217;s dangerous to get back in the pool&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>nick <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p> Sunny and warm.<\/p>\n<p>It got pretty toasty yesterday.\u00a0 It was 90+ in the shade and there was sun.\u00a0 I mostly stayed under cover and in the house and garage.\u00a0 I did get stuff done.\u00a0 Could have been more, but progress is getting made.<\/p>\n<p>Garden is starting to get shoots.\u00a0\u00a0 Corn, and watermelon or zukes are poking through.\u00a0\u00a0 The potatoes continue to grow.\u00a0 I&#8217;m up to about 18-24&#8243; of tower bag now.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ttgnet.com\/journal\/2020\/05\/04\/mon-may-4-2020-may-the-fourth-be-with-you-alwathe\/\">&nbsp;&raquo;&nbsp;Read more about: Mon.
