By on March 15th, 2016 in dogs, personal

11:05 – We bought a new Whirlpool washer/dryer set yesterday at Blevins, the local equivalent of Home Depot. We drove straight home, and the delivery truck showed up about half an hour later to install the new ones and haul away the old ones. The washer is HE, but top-load. I’d heard enough bad things about front-load HE washers that I wouldn’t have one on a bet. The user manual was full of warnings that we could expect a completely different experience from using our old agitator-based washer. Certainly, it makes a lot of different sounds than the old one did, and it takes two or three times longer to wash a load. That’s not an issue for us. I can run a load of laundry any time. Both the washer and dryer did the job, which is all I care about.

Colin has been a PITA the last couple of nights, walking around whining and whimpering. I finally yelled at him about 2:00 this morning. I scared him and Barbara. She thinks he hears deer or whatever outside at night. We do want him to be alert and warn us when there’s an intruder, so we need to get him to understand that deer don’t count as intruders. This morning, there were about 30 cows along the fence at the back fence. Colin stared at them. A couple of them kept an eye on him. He is, after all, a wolf. But mostly they just ignored him standing 20 or 30 meters away on the other side of the fence.

Libturds and now *China* are sweating bullets over The Mighty Trump ™. All the other Redumblican candidates are apparently caving or going all in with amnesty for illegals to pander for votes. As Paglia says “spineless”.

  2. DadCooks says:

From all the talk on MSM and the conservative talk shows it is looking more and more like the republicats are about to exercise a series of nuclear options that will destroy the party and ensure we have a true socialist in the house of white. Thank you idiot uninformed masses.

Trump will not go quietly into the night until the gooberment comes up with the fabricated video of Trump and a small boy. Don’t doubt me on this.

You folks that refuse to vote need to admit that you too are part of the problem. You have sat on your hands for too many years. We at least need to get a chaos person in the Grand Goobah position to get the balls rolling.

    All tubes loaded.

  3. MrAtoz says:

I have a matched pair of LG Direct Drive front loading HE’s. A cotton/normal wash is about 40 minutes. More if you up the “dirty” level, spin, etc. A “hygiene” wash is an hour. More if you up the “dirty”. Their is an “allergiene” setting that hits 2 hours. Typical front load washer dribbles into the “hatch”, but doesn’t leak out. I’m pleased with them. The “steam” cycle on the dryer fluffs up dry clean only stuff OK.

  4. Ray Thompson says:

We do too. Bought the stands to go with them. Makes the washer and dryer look huge. The steam setting on the dryer is really good for fluffing pillows and getting rid of some of the grime and odor. Have not had a problem and have owned them for 5 years. I do have to clean the washer gasket as it collects lint. Leaving the door open when not in use is also a good way to keep down the problems with odor.

Dunno about others but as I’ve said, I do not refuse to vote; I do so in our local town elections, regular or special, involving people and issues here in meatspace that can directly affect us, like a new highway department building 200 yards away or a new salt shed or a new person on the Selectboard. And again, as I’ve said before countless times, voting in any elections above that level is a total waste of time; the fix is always in. The actual rulers put whichever sock puppet they want in the WH for however long they want and that’s all.

We need to make our President a figurehead person who acts the part for the right occasions and otherwise does nothing, like the VP currently. And dump the Senate entirely. Then begin holding the House responsible for everything else, person by person, and weeding out the huge majority of lawyers and business people and spreading it around more, with term limits.

But even though despair is a sin, I despair of anything resembling common sense to occur for a very long time in this country, and I also despair that anyone still labors under the delusion that voting for a sock puppet can make any positive changes for us lowly serfs and drones out here.

  6. OFD says:

I furthermore challenge anyone here to read Roger Stone’s books on Nixon, LBJ, and the Bush and Klinton crime families and still post here that voting for these scumbags is in any way a decent, honorable and positive thing, let alone our supposed civic duty. If you begin to feel like I do about it, then go back and read genuine American history and discover that it’s been like this since nearly the beginning, and that among other things, our military-industrial empire and national security state began during our War Between the States and has been rolling merrily along ever since. None of the elites, national or global, running things gives a rancid gnat’s fart in a hurricane of pig shit about you and me. Other than sucking us dry with confiscatory and punitive taxes and sending us and our children into Moloch’s bloody dripping jaws for endless clusterfuck wars that not only solve nothing but make life worse for all of us.

Here’s a ticket to the clue train for my fellow veterans: the guys my dad and grandad fought against have long since been our best buds and allies. And the little Asian peeps me and my uncle fought at, likewise. Tell ya anything?

By giving the “elected” politicians the veneer of popular acceptance if not mandate, you are authorizing them to continue to make the government ever larger, ever more intrusive, ever more expensive, and ever deadlier.

While they laugh at us and think it’s hilarious that we plebes out here still go along with their hokey charade. It’s like being at the circus or carnival and we’re the rubes and bumpkins who still fall for the magic tricks, snake oil medicine and the carny barker’s spiel of drivel and bullshit.

Mr. SteveF said it better than me; when you vote for a guy like Rubio or Cruz or Trump or McCain or Larry Klinton, or Cankles, or Shrub, you enable them, and validate your continued porking. They don’t even bother to grease us anymore; our healthcare sucks and is too expensive too afford; our kids are coming back from wars all fucked up; they’ve sent our jobs overseas; and they’ve opened the gates wide for hordes of Turd World Stone Age goblins. Why let yourselves be done this way?

    “Donald Trump – Con Man”
    http://blog.dilbert.com/post/141090636816/donald-trump-con-man

“And obviously Trump is a racist for suggesting a temporary ban on Muslim immigration until we figure out what the problem is. You might be tempted to say Muslims are comprised of all sorts of ethnicities, and all he is doing is favoring legal citizens over non-citizens, which is the job description of the President of the United States. But again, you have to see it in context. This is the same man who doesn’t disavow the KKK when he can’t hear the question and who makes his supporters do Nazi-looking stuff with their arms. You have to see the whole picture.”

“Trump also wants to build a wall on the Mexican border and deport all of the illegal Mexicans in this country. That is clearly Hitler behavior because those people are brown and Trump has the same mouth shape as Mussolini. Trump’s supporters might point out that the job of the President is to secure borders and favor citizens over non-citizens, but again, you have to see it in context. This is the man who didn’t disavow the KKK when he didn’t hear the question, makes his supporters do Nazi arm things, and discriminates against the Muslim race that is actually a belief system and not a race. When you put it all together, that’s too much smoke to say there is no fire, right? I mean rationally-speaking.”

I thought Adams was serious until this part of the article. That is blatantly tongue in cheek.

  13. DadCooks says:

You folks that continue to vote beyond local elections

I have very seldom voted for a repulicrat or democan, I do as much as I can to not support the status quo while at the same time trying to find and support true constitutional change. Unfortunately I have had to vote all too often for Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck, as well as myself, to register my displeasure with the brain dead drones.

As I have said before, I am supporting Trump in the hope that he brings chaotic change to DC and the repulicrat and democan parties. Anarchy? Maybe so, but what do we have now but a form of anarchy that supports the oligarchy at the expense of the people.

  14. OFD says:

“Maybe so, but what do we have now but a form of anarchy that supports the oligarchy at the expense of the people.”

I certainly agree about the (corporate fascist) oligarchy but don’t believe Trump will do anything to help us, assuming he even lives long enough to make it to the convention; seems to be a tossup now as to who croaks first: him or Cankles. Her by means of her crummy health and evil rotten soul, and him via assassination.

So I don’t understand why the continued pressure and exhortations, then, for those of us who don’t choose to vote in national elections anymore, to vote. We go through this every election; “Oh this time we really GOTTA VOTE or it’s all over and we’ll all die!” Or, “This time we have a guy who could make a real difference!” And the ever-popular “You’re not voting FOR Tweedledee; you’re voting AGAINST Tweedledum, i.e., the lesser of two evils.”

If I believe they’re ALL evil, then why should I vote for EVIL and against my best interests as a citizen and a human being?

Give it up; the game is nearly over; the system is no longer sustainable and it’s simply a matter of time and any “perfect storm” of events before it all implodes. This coming November? Next year? Three years from now, or five or ten? We don’t know, but it’s coming. Why should our empire be any different from all those that came before? The British, the Spanish, the Holy Roman, the Roman, the Assyrian, etc., etc.

Let’s make a deal, OFD (or as I think of you, Eeyore): You shut up about the futility of voting, and I won’t nag you about it.

    Deal?

  16. DadCooks says:

I’d like in on @medium wave’s deal with you @OFD.

In simple terms, DadCooks, you fired the first shot, and now you and medium wave are saying “can’t we all just get along?”

  19. OFD says:

Furthermore, I did shut up about it, a few days ago, saying something like “I give up” after one of our Oz correspondents’ remarks about Cankles and broomsticks and sodomy. Then another shot was fired, as per recollection of Mr. SteveF above, and I got all exercised again, stupid me, my bad, etc.

I’d just as soon give it a good long rest but it will be difficult in this election year and with all the new history being made, and even though it appears clear that we’re not changing anybody’s minds here about it.

OK, so let me just predict this: Knowing as we all do how bad it’s gonna be if and when Field Marshal Rodham takes over the WH again, I predict that if she loses and Trump somehow makes it to that position, I foretell that nothing good will come of it for us out here and things will still get worse, eventually a lot worse. The corollary being that he doesn’t really give a shit about us, either, or the country, per se, no matter what he says to us now. Pretty much like all the others have done since LONG before nasty ol’ OFD was born.

    So pax vobiscum, fratres.

Allow me to elaborate on my previous post:

    1. Barring doing or saying something that would cause him to fall out of the good graces of Our Gracious Host, OFD is free to express himself here in any way he sees fit, and

    2. OFD is an intelligent, well-educated adult with a vast amount of real-world experience, an all-too-rare combination whose opinions on most subjects are well worth paying attention to, but

    3. his periodic rants really are NOT HELPING his brand.

  21. SteveF says:

What I really want to see is OFD getting older and crotchetier and yelling “Hey, you damned kids, get off my lawn!” YouTube or it didn’t happen.

In the absence of that, I’d settle for all professional politicians and would-be professional politicians spontaneously combusting. It would be a distant second, but I’d try to make myself accept it as good enough.

  22. OFD says:

“OFD is an intelligent, well-educated adult with a vast amount of real-world experience, an all-too-rare combination whose opinions on most subjects are well worth paying attention to…”

You are too kind, sir; I’m an old, crotchety, ex-cop, ex-soldier, ex-junkie and ex-drunk with a bad case too often of logorrhea when I ought to know by now when to STFU about stuff. Also a short fuse some days, like today, after a stupid, waste-of-time IT drone interview 65 miles each way. At a mostly Winblows shop in state gummint; it brought up all the bad chit memories from my previous sentence with state gummint and made me a sour bastid this evening.

“What I really want to see is OFD getting older and crotchetier and yelling “Hey, you damned kids, get off my lawn!” YouTube or it didn’t happen.”

I’ll try to oblige, but we ain’t got much lawn for the damn kidz to be jumping around on here; the next good opportunity will be the July 4th weekend and Bay Day, when we get about 3,000 derps here in the village causing a ruckus and watching the fireworks off the one remaining pier. Sad to say, though, previous such holiday weekends failed to produce any damn kidz doing anything within many yards of this property, almost as though it was radioactive or something. They’ll actually PARK on our neighbors’ lawns and I’ll have most of my driveway open and available and don’t really mind if they park in it for an hour or two but nobody ever does. You’d think some terrible monster ogre lived here…or sumthin….

Ho. Ho. Speaking of clouds, that state gummint IT department plans to move their current state-gummint cloud to the Microslop cloud, as it’s “already set up for them,” etc. Good luck with that, and also with your security. Which is a joke already.

“It is the M60. Stop carrying that thing all over the property.”

My days of doing that are LONG gone, and I’d hate to have to do it again for any distance beyond, say, the post office or gas station. I COULD, but it would suck rocks. Plus the ammo, ya know.

“And I will bet that they did not offer to buy you a tank of gas either.”

    Shirley, you must be joking.

    And I liked this comment:

  35. OFD says:

I tend to agree with Gary North; we’re in entirely new historical territory, politically, among other areas, and this coming year should be a real humdinger. The Party is screwing around with possibly inciting mass revolt across the country, if only the voters, such as they are, but it will extend to other sectors of the pop, I’m sure. The Evil Half has been, and is currently, screwing around with 2A and they’re finding out, and will find out, what a mistake that is. Masses of people are getting really fed up and pissed off, and they are now realizing what fools they’ve been taken for and what lying sacks of criminal shit have been messing us all up for decades.

I cringe every time some political hack or bullshit artist like him invokes His name, bordering heavily on the blasphemous. He’s big here, of course, and places like the upper Midwest and the Bay area out on the Left Coast and among the scribblers at Salon and all the progs and SJW types. Also younger peeps who don’t buy Rodham’s line of corporate fascist bullshit.

“And speaking of, can anyone picture ol’ Throwslikeagirl Momjeans actually throwing a punch? And not getting the bejesus beat out of him five seconds later, I mean.”

I doubt he’s ever thrown a real punch in his life. On the actual streets of Chicago or Detroit he’d be SOMEBODY’S punch, though. Moochelle probably slaps him around and has him moppin’ dat flo every night, and now the daughters are kicking his ass, too. He don’t mind, though, ’cause he the CINC and can have peeps whacked all over the globe at his say-so, digs it, too. And every time he get smacked, another wedding party in Sandbox-el-jab gets wiped out.

Me too. And Cruz has me freaking also. And I have no idea what this “Seven Mountains Dominionism” apocalyptic stuff is and I really don’t want to know. Sounds kinda like the twelfth Imam thing. I really do not want to live in a theocracy. After all, no one expects the Spanish Inquisition.

I really liked Cruz before this race and he has disappointed me. Not as much as our RINO senior senator from The Great State of Texas though.

  38. OFD says:

“And I have no idea what this “Seven Mountains Dominionism” apocalyptic stuff is and I really don’t want to know.”

I hear ya. It’s the logical historical consequences of the Reformation and the continued breaking up into first, the major Protestant denominations, and then a whole slew of offshoots, cults and sects, some of them downright creepy. Sorta like “Children of the Corn,” writ large. But not to wax “triumphalist;” the Roman Catholic Church of well over a billion has its own creepy little corners and weird practices and liturgies not found in the Catechism or standard clerical instructions. Mrs. OFD has known some of them, and I’m certainly aware of them from a distance. Of course the RC mainstream might think I’m into a weird practice, going back in the time machine to pre-Vatican II and the Latin Rite. But at least none of them that I know of handle venomous reptiles or drink strychnine, and they know there are more books in Scripture besides “Revelation.”

  39. MrAtoz says:

Rand Paul for me. A year ago he was saying all the right things and filibustering and generally raising a stink amongst all the sewer dwellers in Congress. He wasn’t accomplishing a whole lot, mind you, but he seemed to be doing his best for personal rights in the US.

And then along came the presidential campaign, and there went Paul’s credibility. Whether that’s because he personally wasn’t ready for the sling and arrows or because all politicians have feet of poseur’s clay, I’ll leave as an exercise for the reader.

  41. OFD says:

What? Mooch do damage to this great country that she’s now so proud of because they elected Barack twice? Whereas before she hated it? Even after the pencil-whipped BA degree at Princeton? The law schools and law jobs raking in hundreds of thousands per annum? What I can’t get over is how so many peeps think she’s gorgeous. Of course we have guys on this board who thought (think?) The big stink was the cost compared to what the little people can afford. Does anyone really think the Obola’s paid for those dresses? They were probably left in a sack on the front lawn so not to be considered gifts. Just like the Mooch’s $500 kicks she wore to the soup kitchen or wherever. She probably found them on the front lawn after calling the maker and saying how nice they were. Obola will get the best deals and freebies for the rest of his life for a “job well done.”
