The Saxon Shore: The Camulod Chronicles
by Jack Whyte

In this the fourth volume of the Camulod Chronicles, Whyte continues his superb retelling of the tale of King Arthur as straight historical fiction. You won't find dragons or magic here. Just real people set in a believable tapestry of events.Whyte is an excellent author and an excellent historian. Where gaps exist in the record, he bridges them believably. If you haven't yet read any of Whyte's work, start with the first book in the Camulod Chronicles, The Skystone, and work your way through to this volume. If you have any interest in the late Roman Empire, in the history of early Britain, or in the Arthurian legends, you'll love this series.
